Lol. Like MLB would have the nuts to do the right thing. Hope this gets a real replay system in place.
10/5/2012 8:51:50 PM
Selig has never approved a protest . Just read that somewhere. Realclearsports or something like that.
10/5/2012 8:53:18 PM
well glad I made it to that
10/5/2012 8:58:12 PM
Unbelievable. It's a shame that Chipper's last game had to turn out the way it did. The Braves absolutely deserved to lose this game with terrible defense reminiscent of two years ago, but what an absurdly terrible call on the infield fly. Glad Atlanta turned into Phillie fans though, wouldn't have been as dramatic without it. Here's to next year, or maybe the year after that, or perhaps a few years even after that, or probably not at all. We are made to suffer, with the exception of cleveland fans and pittsburgh pirates fans. And it doesn't help we're also NC State fans. Who's making the 2013 thread??
10/5/2012 9:18:16 PM
I understand Braves fans are pissed b/c they got beat. But I don't see what the problem is with the call. Read the rules. Ball could have easily been caught by the infelder. Doesn't matter if he catches it or not (which is kind of the point).Ump should have called it earlier. But I have no problem with the call.
10/5/2012 10:12:09 PM
the problem with the call was the ball wasn't in the INFIELD...[Edited on October 5, 2012 at 10:22 PM. Reason : not that I care....GO NATS]
10/5/2012 10:21:44 PM
Doesn't have to be. Read the rules.
10/5/2012 10:22:12 PM
I've read the rules, actually. Just finished my wiki course. I'm aware it doesn't [b][u]have to be, but by most standard that's where it's called. so yes, technically legit, but kind of lame.[Edited on October 5, 2012 at 10:25 PM. Reason : .]
10/5/2012 10:24:30 PM
or at least, not while an IF is running backwards looking over his head. it was a bullshit call at a possibly pivotal moment
10/5/2012 10:27:23 PM
10/5/2012 10:27:57 PM
I know it's not the rule G-Damnit.... but it's in the name, and I like getting you boys all worked up.
10/5/2012 10:30:57 PM
^ ha, I saw your next post after I posted (where you said you read the rule). I just didn't edit it.
10/5/2012 10:34:01 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infield_fly_ruleI've read it. I know it's not the rule. apologize my sarcasm is not clear. Go Nats.
10/5/2012 10:34:39 PM
damnit...why do I feel that this is just the beginning of an absolute crap sports weekend for me...Braves lose to Cardinals...Wolfpack plays Top 5 Florida State...Redskins play undefeated Atlanta Falcons...urgggrrrr
10/5/2012 11:31:33 PM
Just got back from the gameI beaned some jackass security guy in the head with a glass bottle I snuck inTotal BS call, integrity of the game my asssee ya next year
10/5/2012 11:35:17 PM
10/5/2012 11:44:55 PM
Lets be honest the Ross at bat was bs as well. You cant be granted a timeout that late in the pitchers' process of throwing the ball.Overall shitty game by the umps[Edited on October 6, 2012 at 12:23 AM. Reason : I have to say, i was pullung for the Braves in this one]
10/6/2012 12:22:16 AM
Was out all night what was the score of the game Jaybee?
10/6/2012 1:29:02 AM
Last night was vintage Braves. When needing a clutch win, everything goes wrong. Get an early lead, lose it by committing errors. Take the lead after a little league series of errors by the other team and have them taken off the board. Then have a call made at the last second that is there to protect the offense totally screw a comeback attempt. Not to mention so many people left on base. Ahh.
10/6/2012 7:30:27 AM
The 40-year-old Jones is all done, period. He managed an infield hit in his final at-bat but threw away a double-play ball in the fourth, which led to a three-run inning that wiped out Atlanta's early 2-0 lead behind Kris Medlen.
