There was a local guy who had a 'boxy' model Volvo with LS1 and T56 swapped in it.... should have bought that fucker.[Edited on January 22, 2015 at 7:52 AM. Reason : -]

That’s a pretty nice Legacy, I thought they had 6 speeds in them for some reason...Also, still pretty expensive. Too bad there really aren’t any recent, reliable, manual RWD wagons around that aren’t totally gutless and don’t cost an arm and a leg...

The new GTI for engineers that don't know anything about cars? lolSeriously. Long as curb weight and price is low, I would consider it...
2/3/2015 8:37:03 PM
When this goes on sale so will our Kia.^ how the fuck is this a gti?Btw what you need to know is symmetrical awd so no torque steer andUp to 100% of torque can be sent to any single wheel... Which is epic!
2/3/2015 9:24:53 PM
Its not a GTI, or anything like it, other than the appeal that I can see it may have to a niche of people. I suppose the ST is a more accurate example of the old GTI reference I'm trying to make. You want something professional, but fun, you know nothing about cars or car manufacturers. You're young and successful. So what do you get? A GTI. I guess maybe the RS will be seen moreso in the hands of true gearheads while young professionals. I don't know how to explain it. Quinn knows what I'm talking about though. Of course not all GTI owners are clueless to the automotive world, it just seems like that's the "safe car" to get if you want something more than an econobox but helps maintain the youthful professional that you are.

^^ I'm not following all this hating on GTI owners. It's a pretty great car.
2/4/2015 9:32:19 AM
A GTI says I'm successful? I wonder what my car says about me.
2/4/2015 10:16:26 AM
Whoa! Looks pretty good in blue! Anybody got one I can drive?
2/4/2015 11:07:42 AM
Yeah I had a GTI for ~2 years. Fun car.
2/4/2015 11:47:21 AM
So apparently the GT4's power rating is conservative. Porsche's literature states that the engine makes 385 hp at 10,000 ft. So yeah, that's probably over 400 hp but they won't state that outright so 911 owners won't get butthurt...my guess at least.
2/5/2015 3:09:01 PM
That doesn't sound right either. 385 hp on a standard day at 10,000' would be 500+ hp at sea level. Well, I guess that could be accurate if the 911 GT3 is itself substantially underrated (not unlikely from Porsche) and the GT4 is outfitted with the GT3's engine in full-tune state.
2/5/2015 6:16:07 PM
That's a good point Duke. I actually didn't realize that altitude affected power [ithat[/i] greatly.Just did the math for my buddy's Impreza that we used in CO. 5 guys + gear and at 10,000 feet that car was only making around 110 hp, lol. That damn CVT transmission....motorboating at 5,000 rpm constantly, so annoying.
2/6/2015 8:55:12 AM
^ thats why a stocksti will beat a C5 z06 at bandimere.Boosted cars aren't affected nearly as much.
2/6/2015 9:52:47 AM
The base Imprezas with the CVTs are so slow. My girlfriend has one.
2/6/2015 10:41:12 AM
I know exactly what you're talking about, Hiro. gti is a clown car indeed. i'm fairly disappointed in the GT4 in all that I've read/heard. very disappointed it's not available with a PDK
2/6/2015 11:46:34 AM
I can't tell if you're trolling or not...?
2/6/2015 12:48:13 PM
i'm still stuck on the fuckus... if it gets 25+ hwy that will be my new commuter.
2/6/2015 1:05:28 PM
Yeah I liked my GTI. Got a 2008 in 2010 for ~19k with a 3 year certified dealer warranty. Sold it mid 2013. Great car. Would never have bought one without the warranty though. Had quite a few things break on it.[Edited on February 6, 2015 at 1:21 PM. Reason : s]
2/6/2015 1:20:31 PM
i'm not trolling. the gti is weak imo and the pdk absolutely the superior transmission. i'd take it over anything else porsche offers but a true sequential dogbox
2/6/2015 1:48:49 PM
Also not trolling but isn't a Porsche a little more expensive new(er) than a GTI? Or is that not what you're comparing it to? I got a sub 20k car with a 3 year certified warranty. I don't think you can get a sub 20k Porsche with a 3 year certified warranty...

2/6/2015 3:32:01 PM
^^you're not mistaken. This is a general thread, not about any particular car.^^^so? The GT4 is about driving enjoyment as much as anything else. Since Porsche only offers the GT3 exclusively with the PDK, it's not surprising that they would do the opposite with this car. Who cares which is "faster" around a track, last time I checked this is a street car.[Edited on February 6, 2015 at 3:48 PM. Reason : ^love it]
2/6/2015 3:37:19 PM
^^.... i know... I just didn't want to get into all that. There is a little extra exhaust restriction from the extra power required for compression.
2/6/2015 3:43:17 PM
Let me look into that real quick (took it from a quote over at http://www.s2ki.com).The quote was taken from the video at this link: https://www.pca.org/news/2015-02-04/video-porsches-head-gt-cars-shares-details-cayman-gt4I'm at work and cannot watch this 20 minute video to find it though.[Edited on February 6, 2015 at 3:53 PM. I think you guys are taking the 380@10k feet comment too literally. He was just saying it’d have... a healthy 380hp+. A lot of Porsches (turbos and the GT series) have been known to be very conservative in ratings. One note about the transmission, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the next GT3 (or RS) offered w/atraditional manual. The manual is based off of the PDK anyway.

Still thinking about the fuckus rs. Probably going to get that car.And...The only reason I'm bummed that the new ford gt has a v6 is I think people will hold on to the second gen.. (Or first gen if you consider the gt a car all its own and not a naming issue).

Gotta have a centrifugal supercharger to be such a torqueless wonder.
2/19/2015 8:49:02 AM
0-60 in 4.1 eh? Porsche Cayman S can do that with almost 100 fewer horsepower
2/19/2015 8:57:43 AM
See torqueless wonder comment above.. It's peaky as heck having a high strung engine with a supercharger that builds boost as RPM rises.
2/19/2015 10:08:49 AM
I mean, I would imagine they just cranked up the boost for their already supercharged Evora S model. The Toyota sourced V6 is already supercharged in that application.
2/19/2015 10:20:24 AM
2/19/2015 10:34:35 AM
My guess is 1) they didn't have the engineering resources to develop this car with 2 transmission options or 2) they intentionally left PDK off the options list to prevent it from stepping on the 911's toes (more than it already is).My money's on #2. Anyone that's hell bent on a PDK Cayman can get the GTS and just deal with the hp deficit i guess.
