https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ripple/#marketsThere's a bunch of XRP exchanges. I've been using Kraken and have friends that have used Bitstamp. Kraken is a pain in the ass to use, it has a pretty shit UI and has a lot of issues loading in general, but it has a tiered verification process so you can get away with less verification if you are going to fund via another crypto. Bitstamp requires full verification to start, id, proof of residence, etc, which I was not prepared to go through just for XRP. There are also a lot of horror stories in r/bitstamp so I don't really trust them. Pretty much all of these exchanges are kinda sketch in one way or the other. What wallets are you guys using? Anyone have a hardware wallet?

here is a dumb question, when you buy one of these currencies with cash from an exchange, who are you buying from? Does the exchange themselves buy and sell currency, or are you just putting in a buy order and then they match you with a sell order?
12/13/2017 9:14:19 AM
Kraken is garbage compared to Bittrex. I use the Ledger Nano S hardware wallet. I wish it had support for more coins and the ability to have more than 4 wallets in it at the same time. XRP just doubled today. I'm going to buy some Dash and Iota.
12/13/2017 9:20:53 AM
wow, bittrex looks like a PITA to use
12/13/2017 9:53:25 AM
^ its not that bad. It uses BTC, ETH, and USDT as base trading pairs. You cannot directly link it to your bank account. bittrex wants all of my information but i'm not comfortable giving addresses and last 4 of my social. you could basically do whatever you want with all that. Aren't they kinda sketch?
12/13/2017 8:17:02 PM
Coinbase asks for the same information as well. Your social was probably compromised during the Experian debacle anyways.
12/13/2017 11:39:40 PM
coinbase didn't get anything except my cc
12/14/2017 3:53:02 AM
I didn't need to give my info to coinbase
12/14/2017 7:10:55 AM
I linked my bank account and iirc they did ask for some extra info.
12/14/2017 9:34:07 AM
I got an idea last night.1) Invest $1,100 in Bitconnect.2) Earn $1,000 in interest in 10 weeks. 3) Reinvest the interest in altcoins every 10 weeks.4) Profit You are welcomehttps://bitconnect.co/?ref=get2vivek
12/14/2017 10:38:45 AM
mine is linked, i just needed name and address, no documents or SS on coinbaseonly 1 asked for SS (bitstamp?), so i cancelled
12/14/2017 10:39:01 AM
Well Kraken is completely useless now. Definitely don't bother signing up with them until they get their shit together.
12/14/2017 5:58:17 PM
^ I've been trying to get verified all morning, but considering how error-prone the website is, I'm not sure I want my money tied up on that exchange. That error 520 screen is ridiculous.

bitstamp must not be verifying people anymore, seeing a lot of complaints about wait time for verification[Edited on December 15, 2017 at 11:31 AM. Reason : .]
12/15/2017 11:30:47 AM
^^cool bro, 200 megahash per hour? what kind of miner is that?
12/15/2017 2:54:38 PM
^^ been 24 hours and haven't gotten a verify from bitstamp or bittrex
12/16/2017 2:03:21 AM
Friend's bitstamp verification took about a week and that was 2 weeks ago, so don't expect that to go through quickly.
12/16/2017 2:15:06 AM
I've now realized that the best way to "buy" altcoins is to just buy mining equipment.
12/17/2017 2:43:55 PM
No, Kraken, I don't want to give you my SSN. Why do you need that to fund my account anyway?
12/18/2017 8:42:13 AM
i was finally able to get some XRP, so expect it to crash
12/18/2017 12:21:05 PM
ADA is up 22x since I bought in. If only you guys had invested when I posted about it on here.
12/18/2017 4:24:34 PM
As someone that has been in crypto for a while and is a true believer in Ethereum and blockchain tech in general: the crash is going to be a thing to behold.
12/19/2017 11:05:16 AM
I think it will topple after 3 trillion in market cap. Anyone else want to take a bet?
12/19/2017 12:52:03 PM
I say 2 trillion
12/19/2017 2:17:51 PM
^,^^,^^^why. none of you have given any reasoning for your wild claims.
12/19/2017 7:19:41 PM
I realized today Stellar is worth $0.22. I signed up 3 years ago and they gave you some neglible amount for free.Turns out I have $1400 worth.
12/19/2017 9:58:57 PM
If you value your money, don't put it into Kraken. Last I heard, people aren't even able to transfer BTC out using simple wallet addresses, much less actually cash out to a bank account. Customer service is so shitty, you basically have to go post on a random message board somewhere, and they eventually respond, but ONLY to people who are trying to deposit money into the system. Everything else gets ignored.Look at this thread for examples...https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=290799.5840

That happens with all currencies and will happen as long as there is currency.

12/22/2017 8:32:57 AM
Good day to jump in for more?
12/22/2017 9:25:34 AM
i'll probably buy LTC if it gets close to $150, but the transaction costs for btc are too high unless you are doing large transactions.
12/22/2017 9:47:18 AM
litecoin started going up, so i bought at $202(i hope that works out, i'm guessing this is profit taking and not a cost correction)[Edited on December 22, 2017 at 10:58 AM. Reason : .]

Wagerr at 65 cents right now. I honestly feel like this is going to be a monster. If the mainet release on Jan 15th goes smoothly it could get to 10 bucks quick.
12/26/2017 11:21:52 AM
^^I bought at 85 dollars.
12/26/2017 1:30:07 PM
^^ Thanks for the tip
12/26/2017 5:59:29 PM
^^ I bought at $30 and sold at $60Burnt [Edited on December 26, 2017 at 9:03 PM. Reason : BURNT]
12/26/2017 9:02:43 PM
^^^^ what are you using to get wagerr? YoBit?
12/27/2017 3:17:56 PM
WGR is a pain in the ass to get. Still haven't figured out the deal with Waves.
12/27/2017 9:42:10 PM
^ It definitely is. ^^ I used Waves Dex. The first time I bought I moved ETH from Coinbase to the waves dex and converted to waves in the exchange there before moving it again to the wagerr wallet and converted those waves to wgr. The second round I bought I moved some of my bitcoin profit over and went straight from coinbase to the wagerr wallet to exchange. I'm holding about 15k now. Supposedly there's a beta available for the Waves Dex now that has a much more intuitive UI but I didn't want to trust my money in a beta so I haven't messed with it.Also if you have Waves in your wallet, they have been airdropping a token called Liquid which I have no idea what to do with at the moment.
