Let's not focus on any game, and instead play NBA JAM at practice

let's just forfeit the rest of the season so we can get ready for next year. we've already accomplished what we wanted, which is being a bubble team. I don't want to risk losing any guys to injuries.

we need to put all our focus the next 3 weeks on playing Wake/BC/GT on the first day of the ACC tourney

as soon as we lose that game, lets put all our focus on our 2nd round CBI matchup

I'm not going to post again until we lose three games.

I'll probably see you guys Feb 21st.

Try not to get hyped up about the duke and unc games. Fsu is the one we need.

would be great if we won out! previously all i wanted was a ncaa tournament bid, but now, we need to win out the regular season to solidify a faceless 2012-2013 season.

I was able to land two student tickets for the game this saturday against FSU and was gonna go with my roommate. But one of the tickets is obviously a girl's name (he still has his student ID though) and I was just going to use my staff ID for the other ticket, bc I don't have my student ID anymore. Do they check really hard for stuff like that this season or should we be able to get in fairly easily?

http://blogs.newsobserver.com/accnow/coach-k-likes-packs-tournament-chances

Quote :
"Mike Krzyzewski thinks N.C. State is an NCAA tournament team, so does ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi.

Wolfpack coach Mark Gottfried is not as sure.

"Without question, we have a long way to go," Gottfried said Monday on the weekly ACC teleconference.

State's 18-7 overall and 7-3 in the ACC with its biggest three-game stretch of the season approaching. The Pack plays Krzyzewski's Duke team on Thursday, in Durham, followed by a visit from FSU on Saturday and the return game with UNC on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Those three teams are tied for the ACC lead at 8-2 and each one of those three games represents a chance for the Pack to notch a resume-building, if not clinching win.

Lunardi, who handles ESPN's weekly tournament projections, has the Wolfpack as one of the last four teams in the 68-team field, which would put them in Dayton, Ohio for the "First Four."

Gottfried, who worked at ESPN the previous two seasons before taking the State job in last April, said he noticed Lunardi's projection but didn't think much of it.

"As a former member of the media, one thing I do know, Joey Brackets — who I love — his list will change at least 100 times between now and Selection Sunday," Gottfried said.

"There's a lot of chatter about who's in and who's out but the only way you get into the tournament is to win games."

State has won three straight in the conference to improve to 7-3 in the ACC but all of its wins are over teams behind them in the league standings.

State goes to Cameron Indoor Stadium on Thursday where it hasn't won since 1995 and hasn't beaten Krzyzewski since 1988.

Krzyzewski spoke highly of Gottfried's first team, which has already surpassed the conference win total of the previous five State teams.

"I think they've earned everything that they've gotten," Krzyzewski said. "I think they're an NCAA team and I think they will be tough down the stretch for a lot of people."

Duke throttled State last year at Cameron, 76-52, and won in Raleigh, 92-78. Since State's last win at Duke in '95, the Blue Devils have gone 29-5 against the Wolfpack.

Did you pull for us to finish 8 or 9 in the old ACC so we got an extra game too?

posted about state on another board asking if anyone outside of NC thinks we'll make it. overwhelmingly people thought that we will. doesn't mean shit, but it's nice to know that we're somewhat relevant outside of the state.

We can hang a win in the record book when we beat a 12 seed in Dayton before losing to San Diego State or whatever

I don't think it actually counts an "NCAA Tournament Win" though, for official purposes. I remember reading something about that last year, but I'm not sure. Maybe ncsuallday can ask someone on his other board about that.

I've actually gotten the impression that folks outside NC think higher of the team than those in state do...just my thoughts.

its because outsiders see our record and think we must be pretty decent. People in the state know who we have played and realize why our record is the way it is.

Tournament worthy? we'll see
upgrade? you damn sure bet ya

^^^of course that article leaves off a huge assumption...

that we win the last 3 games of the season.

A win vs. either duke, fsu, unc would put us in the tournament assuming we win @ Clemson, vs Miami, and at VT.

A win vs. either duke, fsu, unc and a LOSS to either Clemson or VT would put us squarely back on the bubble. A loss to Miami wouldn't be good, but Miami is also squarely on the bubble and wouldn't drop us down significantly at all in the RPI.

A loss to Duke, and wins vs FSU & UNC would likely trump any 2 loss finish (Miami, @VT)...

Just my two cents. I just want us to go out and seal the deal.

all these scenarios are irrelevant. We're going to win the ACC tourney and get an automatic NCAA bid.

Man, how great would it be to have won those games against IU, Stanford, and GaTech right about now

Although, even if we would have been on our game, I'm still not sure we would have beaten GT that night. They were just lights out, so it probably still would have been a wtf game

my point exactly. Of the two, a win over a ranked uva team would have been more significant that one over GT

my point was just that the gt loss was more embarassing and painful (to me, not to our tournament chances), because we were supposed to win that game. the virginia loss was more expected.

I don't give a fuck about your pain and embarrassment. I care about making the Dance, which is the topic of conversation in this thread. The UVA loss hurt our chances more than our loss to GT.

We need a "signature" win.

Its part of the the human condition to weigh the negative more than the positive.

Its the same reason why coaches punt on 4th and inches from midfield, even when the odds overwhelmingly say to go for it.
