Oh, the way he worded the second paragraph looked like he was praising her, nevermind.+22.1 credibility!
3/21/2012 7:39:35 PM
oh i just read it as two totally separate thoughts

I wouldn't even call it a "free pass".She hired a coach that got us to the Sweet 16 with the same team that only won 15 games last year, and his first recruiting class is in the top 3 in the country. Lots of cred to the coach, but just as much to the AD for hiring him.She started with the sport that historically we're most known for, it is absolutely fine if it takes a little longer for the other sports to get attention. They all benefit from the money that will come pouring in from better bball and football programs, not to mention the media deals.
3/21/2012 11:03:57 PM
I've heard good things about Yow's handling of non-revenue sports, too. Heard she was instrumental in getting the ball rolling for the clubhouse for the centennial golf course and in pushing along the renovation of the track facilities. Then again, I thought the track stuff started during Jed's tenure...
3/22/2012 1:30:06 AM
Success in football and bball = success in other sports. Pick a non-revenue sport, and I'd bet 80% of the best schools have good revenue sportsI love Yow.

3/22/2012 2:21:57 AM
you can check rankings in basically all sports on the ncaa website, we were actually ranked in a few of the non-revenue sports to my surprise.
3/22/2012 10:16:56 AM
3/22/2012 12:06:29 PM
She also hired a soccer coach from Butler, who had some of the top teams in country.

http://www.accsports.com/blogs/david-glenn/2012032112533/david-glenn-chats-with-debbie-yow-march-22.phpI didn't know the ACC splits any money a particular school gets for a bowl or tourney appearance between all the schools. Sounds like...dare I say it...socialism
3/22/2012 2:11:13 PM
yeah thats why teams sometimes lose money by going to shitty bowls
3/22/2012 2:13:27 PM
How did you not know that?
3/22/2012 2:13:37 PM
I guess it doesn't help that I don't know how I didn't know that. Ah sheesh.
3/22/2012 2:14:48 PM
what all does the 10-year media deal do?
3/22/2012 2:18:18 PM
3/22/2012 2:26:45 PM
The revenue sharing stuff is why we should pull for ACC teams to make bowls and go deep in the NCAAs (other than UNC of course). Can the other 11 schools in the ACC sue UNC for being banned from a bowl as it could reduce our revenue
3/22/2012 2:29:01 PM
it'd ridiculous that unc still gets bowl money from the acc despite their bowl ban.
3/22/2012 2:34:18 PM
Y'all are acting like UNC would have gotten a bowl bid anyways. I rather think the bowl ban is little more than a formality. There's no way they were going to a bowl this coming season.
3/22/2012 2:35:42 PM
wlb420, yes you are correct I think on that my mistake.Teams do lose money still though if they cant sell enough tickets. Ive seen estimates that it can cost about $1 million to send a team to a bowl game.
3/22/2012 2:45:48 PM
Teams have to buy a set number of tickets and if they don't sell them they basically eat the cost. aka Wake Forest. We actually asked for more tickets this years bowl game. she also said that the NCAA only pays for 75 people (coaches, players, cheerleaders, band, admin) for NCAA Bball trips, and they end up over the 75 people and have to eat the cost. meaning they don't get reimbursed off the top before the money goes to the conference.
3/22/2012 2:52:34 PM
http://www.basketballelite.com/index.php/college-basketball/the-ncaa-tourney-money-game/56so you get paid for making the tournament but going deep doesnt mean anything as far as money goes that year but it does for the next six years?[Edited on March 22, 2012 at 3:25 PM. Reason : shits confusing]
3/22/2012 3:24:46 PM
No, the conference gets rewarded for each win its teams get, but for whatever reason the final win doesn't do anything.
3/22/2012 3:36:54 PM
Credible!
4/18/2012 5:17:42 PM
^^ Think of it as the conference getting paid for each game you play in, not each game you win. You're really getting money for making it to the next game. It makes sense, the money comes from the TV deals so your'e getting paid for being on TV more. You don't get more money for winning the championship because you don't get to be on TV again after winning.

Let the crying for Nike begin.
4/25/2012 10:09:00 AM
was scared we were gonna go the under armour route, everything turned out better than expected
4/25/2012 10:15:22 AM
I personally like Adidas. I won't wear any Nike products simply for the fact that Carolina and Duke wear them and Nike does all that Jordan stuff (and I strongly dislike Jordan as well).
4/25/2012 10:22:51 AM
I was hoping we'd go with L.A. Gear.
4/25/2012 10:26:30 AM
I don't really care about the adidas vs nike debate, i don't have anything against adidas like some do ..but this part sounds good:
4/25/2012 10:29:22 AM
I don't care who we have, I just wish we'd get nicer fan merchandise. I wear Adidas golf stuff all the time but I haven't liked any of the recent State stuff
4/25/2012 10:33:42 AM
Really? Because the adidas stuff I've gotten in the past year has been my favorite nc state gear I've ever had. They've put some good shit out lately.
4/25/2012 10:36:24 AM
Maybe I just can never find it...I know I haven't liked any of the polo shirts recently.
4/25/2012 10:37:15 AM
ya, I like what they've done recently as well. wouldnt have said that 4 years ago though
4/25/2012 11:09:58 AM
i was hoping we would go with K-Swisshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aErcUdpOqHI&feature=youtube_gdata_player

http://gopack.cbscollegestore.com/store_contents.cfm?store_id=465&dept_id=17787&product_id=220007i would just like to say, OH HELL YES!when i saw the team wearing these in columbus, i was like wow, do want.
4/25/2012 11:17:12 AM
+900,000 - 1,000,000 credibility per year.
4/25/2012 11:20:34 AM
I was hoping we would go with Sperry's
4/25/2012 11:23:19 AM
adidas fan/coach merch is awful..especially the design of the golf polos. and the adidas hats with those thick bulky bills. no thanks. but i've never minded the on field/court stuff.]
4/25/2012 11:32:18 AM
I dont think Adidas is bad because if you look at the other schools that use them (Indiana, Nebraska, Tenn., Wisconsin, UCLA, etc) they can produce nice stuff, we just havent had anyone to hold them accountable for the shit theyve given us the last decade.I also think whoever decided to "update" Tuffy should be kicked right in the nuts. Updating our logo constantly gives us no stable branding. Im all for bringing back the old mean looking tuffy vs the goofy bastard we use now and bring back the slobbering wolf just for shits and giggles.Stick with those two mascots, a consistent color red, just "STATE" on everything and I think a lot of problems would be solved...
4/25/2012 11:34:02 AM
4/25/2012 11:52:59 AM
why not?Adidas are perfectly capable of making nice polo shirts. Their golf ones are great. I just don't see why they have to put out shit with awkward black accenting and/or stripes down the side.
4/25/2012 11:55:41 AM
I was hoping we would go with Ed Hardy
4/25/2012 1:24:52 PM
4/25/2012 1:28:58 PM
with NC State textile dept being one of the best in the world, i see no reason why we need addidas/nike/Ed hardy, we should come up with our own shoe/apparel brand and offer other universities to use our brand to make monies!/troll
4/25/2012 1:30:48 PM
we should have used Steve and Barry's before they went defunct.]
