Just wanted to agree with everyone who says Rick Santorum is a sack of shit.
1/3/2012 9:26:10 PM
How close must it be to be considered a tie and what happens with the delegates in the result of a tie?
1/3/2012 9:28:44 PM
SoSantorum=Paul=Romneynice...
1/3/2012 9:35:31 PM
I believe the GOP changed the rules it is no longer winner take all...so it looks like 1/3 for each and on to the next state...so we are going to go through this for awhile now....like Obama and Clinton.[Edited on January 3, 2012 at 9:53 PM. Reason : w]

and this is a good thingI mean democracy
1/3/2012 9:55:20 PM
Actually not 1/3rd because the others will divide the 24% or 25% remaining among themselves.
1/3/2012 10:00:06 PM
It's now 24-24-22 Santorum-Romney-Paul.
1/3/2012 10:05:02 PM
People lied and said they would vote for Paul and didn't.
1/3/2012 10:06:19 PM
http://www.cnn.com/election/2012/primaries/epolls/iaHere's a full break down of some polls. It's pretty obvious it's the religious conservatives keeping Santorum afloat. Good thing though that religion isn't really harmful...And it looks like almost half of the people who voted for Romney like him mostly because they think he can beat Obama, not because of any of his principles. He also has the oldest mix of voters, and the highest mix of voters who DON'T like the Tea Party (which I find odd). The other interesting thing is that a plurality of Paul supporters have known they were going to vote for him for a while. If i had to make a prediction, based on this, Romney is going to get the nom. `[Edited on January 3, 2012 at 10:17 PM. That was the odd thing to me too...Between Romney having such a high % of anti-tea-party supporters, and the main reason people vote for him is because they want to see him beat Obama (vs. deficit and economic issues), it seems clear that his supporters are very much in favor of the status-quo. Considering he has a higher rich-people mix of supporters, this sort-of makes sense because to them, things aren't so bad.I just don't see Romney resonating that well with the growingly beleaguered middle class, against Obama, who was middle-class until a few years ago.
1/3/2012 10:22:08 PM
Romney can't beat Obama. Santorum really can't beat Obama. There's only one candidate that can pull the Independent/Democrat votes necessary to win: Ron Paul. Problem is, the GOP establishment would rather have Obama in office.
1/3/2012 11:00:24 PM
I've heard that a few neocons would actively support Obama over Paul, because at least Obama wouldn't pull all the troops out right away and would maintain indefinite detention of "enemy combatants" and military-style targeting of American citizens.
1/3/2012 11:07:35 PM
I honestly don't understand what is happening with the world. The candidates are getting consistently worse and more alike.Watching Gingrich and santorum come out of nowhere means these things are definitely rigged.
1/3/2012 11:10:18 PM
No shit, Sherlock. Paul has lost. Iowa was his only hope. Stop voting. Buy guns.
1/3/2012 11:14:29 PM
The Paul campaign needs to rally around this loss.We need to win the war. The election can still be won. Third party time

The problem is that you don't get delegates for strong showings. You have to actually win and this seemed like his best early chance of a win and he didn't get it. I'm a Paul supporter but its going to take a surge or a Romney collapse at this point.
1/4/2012 12:06:03 AM
You do get delegates for a strong showing this time around: Unlike 2008 most of the primaries and caucuses award delegates in rough proportion to the vote totals[Edited on January 4, 2012 at 12:27 AM. Reason : and this includes Iowa and New Hampshire
1/4/2012 12:27:19 AM
Maybe President Santorum will pick Paul as his VP.
1/4/2012 12:28:46 AM
nah, Santorum would prefer a momma grizzly bear as his VP.
1/4/2012 12:30:48 AM
^^What kind of scandal are you predicting will befall Obama? If Santorum manages to win the primaries, Obama is expected to win easily in the general.

Santorum has no strategy beyond Iowa. Like Huckabee, his fame will be short-lived. I'm certain of it. This is a two-way race between Romney and Paul, with Paul poised to get second in New Hampshire.Ron Paul will not be allowed to enter the White House, though. There's too much at stake.
1/4/2012 11:42:13 AM
I predict he'll be assassinated by the military (a la Alexander Litvinenko) if he becomes successful.

Ron Paul wins 48% of the 17-29 year old vote, 11% of the baby boomer vote.Make no mistake: this is a battle between generations. The baby boomer generation has lived the high life by creating debt and overspending. They plan to continue amassing debt until they die, at which point they will dump all of it on us. As soon as these assholes die off, we might be able to have a free(r) society.
