Sorry, I'm use to finance.yahoo.com which is terrible compared to google.

Thanks!

Is there a place I can find all the companies INTC and JNJ own on yahoo too?

Its a bit too unpredictable for me, its not cut and dry because of decay
its hard to judge where it should be if financials tank
not enough upside potential for me to take a risk

[Edited on April 6, 2009 at 10:24 AM. Reason : im talking about FAZ, what are you talking about]

FAZ appears to be doing the classic three push on negative momentum. It has made 2 lower lows and 2 lower highs. It should start it's next lower high shortly, and when it gets near its next lower at what appears should be around the 16 range I'll be looking to jump in. This would also have FAZ failing to fill the gap which is a bullish signal. Will enter around that low with an extremely tight stop and will snipe some profits. I'm giving up on hitting the home run and am instead going to go back to grinding like I was before.

Grr, I'm blind. The first dip was at 9:45 off the gap up. The third dip that I was referring to as the second would have been the time to go in for an easy snipe.

http://zerohedge.blogspot.com/2009/04/fun-fact-of-day.html

I think it will take just one fairly bad (say, 10%?) earnings miss by any of the big boys from consumables, to retail, to finance to really halt this rally in its tracks and have a snap back as bad as we have seen so far in this catastrophe.

By the same token, any big bank that has cooked their books this round will send us rocketing 5-8% higher within 1 day. Watch the schedule this week and next. Gonna be a rocky ride.

It seems like for every piece I read thinking that this rally has about run it's course I read one that thinks it has more legs. Alcoa earnings after hours will be a real benchmark for that answer.

I still don't trust big gaps on the opens to want to hold anything overnight without some sort of hedge.

I am currently holding FAZ but I bought some slightly OTM May calls in FAS to protect. If earnings surprise then FAZ will drop but probably not as hard as the calls go up in value. On the other side with the now seemingly expected bad earnings to come in, FAZ should move steadily up and the FAS calls being farther out shouldn't move quite as hard. It's basically a straddle type play and fortunately the option volatility has settled a little making it cheaper to make this play.

Alcoa reported .59 loss vs .56 estimates. I haven't read all the details but I think they must have made some positive comments about going forward which moved the stock up a bit, but now it's down 3% after hours.

What is the concensus on Citigroup? I'd like to pick up some C, but what is the probability of them failing or not and when is a good time to get in? Earnings come out April 17.

with the mark to market rule being relaxed, it's anybody's guess.

I'm sure their accountants are working overtime to revalue all of their toxic assets to paint a rosier picture next week.

probably worth a small gamble.

The consensus is they are insolvent. The fact that the Fed is going to delay the stress test results until after earnings season should tell you something. If the results were good, they'd release them ASAP. Having said that, don't underestimate the shenanigans that will be played with the books. It's a pure gamble play, how lucky do you feel?

Dang, market up big early on WFC news. I took a somewhat small position last week in FAZ, sold for a small profit yesterday. I also took some FAS options as a hedge and just barely sold out of those for a small loss yesterday. I have a feeling they will have been worth about $1000 more after today is done thanks to WFC.

Seriously, how does an institution in the worst recession in decades beat estimates by more than double? How did that many analyst get it wrong? Was it because they are cooking the books (like I said a couple posts ago?)

I expect nearly all of them to do this, FAZ will plummet, then slowly and quietly the news of the stress test will trickle out and give up a lot of the gains made on this round of fraud.

On days like this in the past it seems like we have a steady up day throughout the day. However, those days were reactions to full market news (like FOMC minutes, jobless claims, etc) and this is just one bank. I'd probably buy on a decent pullback in the first hour with a fairly tight stop.

Sad thing is, I was up at about 6am this morning and was contemplating buying 1000 shares of FAS premarket and sell it at the market open as it seems like with decent futures and Asian stocks doing well the night before the premarket always trades strong into the open. But I didn't go through with it. Could have quickly eased some pain Ive taken in the past weeks.
