The offensive play calling is also uncreative, and predictable and it has been for the last 5 years. I don't know if it is a product of lack of talent, and ability to learn and run offenses, or what. But we don't even try to do something to change it up and give different looks. I just know from playing football in pretty boring offenses, it isn't fun to come into the huddle and hear "shotgun draw, again."
8/29/2008 12:42:34 AM
i wouldn't expect too much creativity out of a group that can't even snap the ball correctly.

I would have felt much better about this game if it was 34-3 instead of not scoring anything.

the only thing that'd put my chin up is word that glennon is going to start next game.
8/29/2008 1:45:23 AM
wouldnt change a thing unless he was as hard to tackle as bo jackson on tecmo .... cause he's going to be running for his life every down with how horrific our OLine is.
8/29/2008 1:51:58 AM
okay well you can't just sacrifice a whole season b/c you have a bad oline. you still have to try.might as well put someone in who can gain from the experience.
8/29/2008 1:55:48 AM
honestly i think that putting glennon behind our current line would be a step backwards... why not wait till we could possibly have a better line next year and have him start? whats the point of wasting a year of elligibility.. plus he is like what 18? he looks (from the camera's of espn) like he is 16. he looked clueless today when shown on the sideline.. maybe thats just his slackjawed look
8/29/2008 2:00:48 AM
you can say that every year. eventually you'll have to play him behind w/e oline we have.
8/29/2008 2:02:14 AM

8/29/2008 5:53:38 AM
i just want to give my kudos to Mike Archer and the defense. For 3 quarters those boys were lights out. And thats with only 3 seniors starting and returning what, 4-5 starters from last year? Where as South Carolina returned 10 starters on their defense. Our defense CONTINUALLY put us in places to succeed, and then 5 minutes later were having to come back onto the field. Our d-line was ferocious, our LB's were hitting holes and covering, and our DB's were all over them for the first 3 quarters. They just ran out of gas in that 4th quarter. On the other hand, to our offense.......back to the drawing board
8/29/2008 6:30:55 AM
yeah, I was happy with the D's showing. You can say SC's offense sucked, but our guys got into the right positions and went after the ball...that's really all you can ask for.as for the offense...well, when Wilson comes back, maybe we can put something together. For the 2nd and 3rd string QBs, though, we might as well start scouting out intramural players.

8/29/2008 8:12:14 AM
I was at the game and left at the end of the 3rdSouthern Carolina University is in for a LONG season in the SEC with their shitty offenseoh and also, Williams-Brice is a piece of shit -- concourse area is like a prison, only one small scoreboard, parking sucks, they herd everybody into tiny ass little openings
8/29/2008 8:18:53 AM
draw, draw, slant, int/punt. Granted the coaching staff diagrammed the offense to fit Wilson, the offense was one of the worst I've ever seen. There's a lot of teams that would have beaten state tonight. The defense was great, but there's only so many times you can get put into bad positions and only so many 3 and outs before you run out of gas. Vandy will beat SC next week. If NCSU had any sort of offense they could have come away with a W.
8/29/2008 8:24:47 AM
glennon will be in the same mess next year. the oline will not magically be better next year. put in someone decent so you can maybe win a few games and maybe get some recruits.as long as daniel evans is under center this program is going nowhere.
8/29/2008 8:39:55 AM
Who needs magically better? Everyone in this thread would settle for marginally.
8/29/2008 8:53:53 AM
8/29/2008 9:09:03 AM
State actually had momentum Wilson's last drive. They were cramming it down the throats of a damn good defense. Wilson's injury wiped it out, but for a second, we didn't look too bad.Any word on DeAndre Morgan? That's one guy we really need healthy.
8/29/2008 9:42:44 AM
Garbage ass football team; jesus lord in heaven, we beseech thee, send us some fucking talent.8/
8/29/2008 10:18:26 AM
Glennon is not significantly better or he would have already had the start. Putting him in is NOT a good idea. the best thing for him and the future is to redshirt. there are not many freshman that can come in and make an impact--most of the time they get eaten alive and take a step backward. There are not many Philip Rivers out there. I tried telling ya'll Amato left this program in worse shape than he got it (he certainly didn't improve it) and now you're finally seeing it. it's going to take O'Brien some time to weed out the crap Amato brought in.
8/29/2008 10:20:31 AM
I love how Glennon is going to come in and magically be God when he can't even beat out Evans in practice. Seriously I want some of what you all are smoking. The O-Line will be better next year. Mark my words. Receivers will all be back plus Bowens. Eugene, Baker, Underwood, and Barnes at backs. What is there to not like about next year?

Glennon can still redshirt if we let him get some reps against William and Mary and Clemson. Let's see against William and Mary and if he doesn't produce, then Wilson is probably back and ready to play for Clemson. Our defense looked possessed for most of that game, I was really impressed how smashmouth we were.
8/29/2008 10:32:16 AM
Good call. I think that's exactly what we should do. Let him get his feet wet, then go from there. Also agreed our defense looked great -- hopefully that wasn't SC looking terrible though. Maybe a little of both. Nate Irving is like a heat-seeking missle out there.

I believe if you play no longer than 10% of the current season you are applying for redshirt, you are still eligible. I also believe there is a deadline, so Glennon for example couldn't take 5 snaps a game all season. someone correct me if i'm wrong, I know he can get some reps in for W&M and still redshirt, but i'm not sure about Clemson.by the way, the pessimism in this thread is just sickening. Granted we got killed, our defense kept us in this game until the 4th quarter, where our depth showed. You need to realize that when we have so little depth on defense, the offense needs to stay on for more than 2... err 3 plays. They had 112 rushing yards on 10 carries in the 4th quarter... quit being such fairweather woe is me bitches.[Edited on August 29, 2008 at 11:47 AM. If it's only allowed in the W&M game, there's no way in hell TOB will put him out there.1 - Evans could probably do very well against that defense, which shows it doesn't mean shit.2 - If Glennon does work a couple of drives successfully, how many people will be okay when he doesn't play anymore the rest of the season? Even though the defense he had just lit up was sub-par. And what if he does so well that TOB is fooled and decided not to redshirt him, he plays against Clemson and throws 10 picks... how good would that look and how pissed would we be if we had wasted a year of his eligibility?Basically, I don't see it happening.
8/29/2008 11:46:24 AM
you're probably right, i'm still just pissed that Beck saw PT personally over Glennon, I know it was the wiser decision, but it didin't make me any less pissed off that we were in that position.on another note Andre Brown did have over 100 yards rushing

Well at least our teams are improving how much game they play. Bball played 50% last year and football seems to play 75%. At this rate, we will play 2.62 games per game by Spring 2010.
