LOL at Drew Carter tearing another ACL. He's a good example of why most track stars should stick to running in circles and shit.I'm starting to look at the Panthers as a dark-horse team this year. The big question mark to me will be the play of the defensive line. I'm guessing Ladainian Tomlinson runs wild in week 1. 150+ yards right up the middle. If they can keep him to less than 100, it could bode well for the rest of the season.[Edited on August 25, 2008 at 11:23 AM. Reason : 2]

damn I love these seats.(my view for Saturday night's game.)
8/25/2008 11:31:50 AM
^thats the exact view I have...except mine is way up high in the 500 section and its much closer to the 15 yard line than the 50]
8/25/2008 12:03:32 PM
Section 344, row 17, seat 1. Jon actually came to talk to us and sat in some guy's seat and the guy was a total dick to him when he came back from the concession stand. When he left I flipped my program to his picture and showed it to the guy and his facial expression was priceless.

Jon Richardson, Jerry's son. He played football in college with my gf's dad and their still really good friends.[Edited on August 25, 2008 at 12:13 PM. Reason : .]

oh oh ok...i was gonna say...if it was Beason, A it must have been the 4th quarter, and B, you must have connections!
8/25/2008 12:13:08 PM
we had on field passes but I couldn't leave raleigh until 3:30ish and I had to meet up with people on Providence Rd at about 6:30 so we didn't have time. Here's a pic I took after the game from our parking spot. It was definitely a great precursor to this weeks So. Carolina game. I wore my state shirt and got so many jeers from gamecock fans.
8/25/2008 12:19:32 PM
Reqatching the game again today.... just realized that Terrance Holt is a starting DB!Yet another reason to love what this year's panthers team is looking like....
8/25/2008 3:57:16 PM
8/26/2008 1:38:13 PM
when are first cuts?
8/26/2008 1:48:23 PM
With all the talk of WR's and who's going to step up, why isn't anyone calling for Travis Taylor? He's not terribly old, and has played decently for other teams in the past. Everytime he catches a ball this preseason, I find myself thinking "damn, when did we get Travis Taylor?"Samie Parker isn't a bad move, but it seems with Taylor going through a whole preseason, he'd be counted on to step up and fill the void. Yet everytime I read something, it's "the Panthers will have to count solely on Jarrett and Muhammad."
8/26/2008 3:44:37 PM
^^I think a few days ago. We didn't cut anyone of note really -- I kind of wanted Casper Brinkly to make the team, but he's gone. Or is it Jasper? I don't know. The big cut will come after the final preseason game (obviously).Any guesses on which RB cuts the boot? I'm thinking Toefield ... poor guy.[Edited on August 26, 2008 at 3:47 PM. Reason : ]
8/26/2008 3:46:27 PM
^Definitely Toefield... he doesent have enough burst or vision. We have confidence in J Stew as a power-back already...We need to make a spot for Rhys Lloyd somehow....IN JAKE WE TRUST[Edited on August 26, 2008 at 9:34 PM. Reason : oa;ijs]
8/26/2008 9:34:08 PM
Lloyd is a difference maker who needs to be on this team. How many more years does Kasay have left in the tank anyway?
8/26/2008 10:37:50 PM
severallike they said on the last telecast, there is no decline in his %'s yeat, so....
8/27/2008 5:34:43 AM
Lloyd - 2 years in the leagueKasay - 18 years in the league
8/27/2008 10:15:15 AM
Oh I want to keep them both, just saying that Lloyd is a freaking kickoff machine. I have not seen the Golden Boot decline at all, but maybe his age gives the team an excuse to keep Lloyd on as well. But, the Panthers never do shit like this with the cuts. They always cut the guys I want to see on the team... Rod Rutherford, Efrem 'the retarded rabbit' Hill, there are more.
8/27/2008 10:25:42 AM
special teams hurt us last year, i'd love to see us keep both kickers because when you know theres a 90%+ chance that the opponent starts at or inside the 20, it really helps...what i REALLY wish was that we could see Lloyd attempt some field goals in preseason to see if he's ready for that role yet...he says he wants to kick field goals, but i guess he's not that great at them yet?
8/27/2008 10:32:55 AM
Ricky Manning Jr just got cut by the Bears. I wonder if the Panthers will bring him back to improve CB depth.
8/27/2008 10:55:13 AM
We've got loads of depth at CB.Speaking of players that shouldn't have been cut, DT Tony Brown is turning into a machine in Tennessee.
8/27/2008 11:31:51 AM
Lloyd has hit a 56 yarder in a game, and a 70 in practice. He may not have the acuracy, but I have no basis for that. Face it, if Vinatieri offered to come to Carolina for 1 dollar a year to kick FGs, Kasay would still be our kicker.
8/27/2008 11:47:51 AM
^^name me anybody decent after Marshall. Plus, Manning will bring the Bears defensive knowledge, and we're playing them in week 2.
8/27/2008 11:52:05 AM
^^the Panthers definitely like being loyal to their veterans, but the fact that we might keep both Kasay and Lloyd shows me that they're at least aware that Kasay is getting old...Kasay hit a 52 yarder in the Skins game though, he's still got a leg on him, for FGs at least^I think we've got 3 great CBs, and when the D-Line is actually getting pressure, that makes them even better
8/27/2008 11:57:59 AM
8/27/2008 11:59:55 AM
^^I realize that, but you gotta take into account injury. Chris Gamble is coming off an injury, and Ken Lucas hasn't been that durable either.[Edited on August 27, 2008 at 12:01 PM. Reason : .]
8/27/2008 12:00:33 PM
^^he had a good rookie year for us, and somehow was all over Torry Holt in the Rams game, but after that he fell off[Edited on August 27, 2008 at 12:02 PM. Reason : Manning]

Coclough (sp?) is having a good preseason, and can easily slide into a nickel CB spot if one of the other three go down.[Edited on August 27, 2008 at 8:26 PM. Reason : ]

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcwest/0-2-388/Broncos-news-and-notes.html"There is chatter that free agent pickup Keary Colbert is on the bubble to make the 53-man roster Saturday. Colbert hasn't been great in the preseason and in training camp. Yet, he was signed to be the No. 2 receiver in the spring. Yet, several weeks later, Denver drafted Eddie Royal from Virginia Tech in the second round and Royal has burst onto the scene. He is now the No. 2 receiver. Veteran Brandon Stokley is entrenched as the No. 3 receiver and Darrell Jackson is the No. 4 receiver. Glenn Martinez has a chance to stick as a returner. The team drafted Royal to be a return man as a rookie but with him now the No. 2 receiver, Martinez may be needed. So, yes, it seems Colbert could be fighting for a roster spot."hahaha, DO IT!!!
8/27/2008 10:47:22 PM
yeah they were talking about that on the radio today...basically somebody said how good can Parker be if the Broncos cut him and kept Keary Colbert, but then somebody said Colbert might be cut too...I don't really want him back, although I wouldn't completely mind him as a 5th receiver or something, especially with Smitty out the 1st 2 weeks and Hackett still dinged up
8/27/2008 10:50:40 PM
i hope somehow conklin makes it as te...went to hs with him
8/27/2008 10:58:59 PM
Conklin already got cut.
8/28/2008 10:57:52 AM
matt moore injured =(
8/28/2008 9:31:25 PM
basanez might make the team theni hope lloyd is able to stay
8/28/2008 9:33:16 PM
Damn it about Matt Moore. Lloyd is definitely staying.
8/28/2008 9:34:29 PM
Alrighty, I'm going to quit dwelling in the sea of NC State disappointment.Moore didn't look awful last night, but certainly didn't look good. I don't think he's improved any from last year, but still seems to be an ok back up.I thought Basenez looked good. He doesn't have a strong arm, but knows how to drop balls where they need to be. He's got something about him ... just a presence. I feel more comfortable with him under center than Moore for some reason. And a parting note: I hated the Stewart pick when we made it. I wanted Mendenhall. Thanks Panthers' front office for not being as dumb as me.
8/29/2008 11:02:57 AM
^ lol I thought the exact same thing in reference to your last sentence.
8/29/2008 11:52:44 AM
I dont know what i'd do right now if the Panthers didn't look promising this yearI mean State is going to beat William and Mary next week, but I think the Panthers are going to be te most successful team of the teams I cheer for this year
8/29/2008 11:55:31 AM
Made a trade with Miami for QB Josh McCown. Supposed to be for a late round draft pick.
8/29/2008 7:19:15 PM
I like that a lot for insurance...I distinctly remember a game when we played the Cardinals a few seasons ago...granted they have Fitzgerald and Boldin but he threw for like 400 yards and looked better than Jake that game...and I'm a Jake fan...I never ever remember David Carr standing out like that when I saw Houston play]
8/30/2008 1:51:26 AM
It's basically just a big fuck you to Basanez.. cya!
8/30/2008 1:53:49 AM
yeah but i think its also "lets not fuck up like we did last year if jake goes down"i thought brett actually looked better than matt...in the steelers game at least[Edited on August 30, 2008 at 2:08 AM. Reason : .]here we go
8/30/2008 2:07:44 AM
Brett has looked consistently better than Moore IMO. Not saying they'll cut Moore, but crazier things have happened
8/30/2008 10:29:57 AM
All I'm going to say is that it's a good thing for John Fox that the Panthers play in the NFC south.
8/30/2008 10:31:53 AM
the NFL South ain't that bad, nothing like the NFC West.
8/30/2008 12:07:32 PM
Panthers trade a "late round pick" to the Dolphins for McCown
8/30/2008 12:14:41 PM
its a 7th rounder
8/30/2008 12:19:04 PM
Busy day for the Panthers...Colclough was charged with DWI just hours before roster cuts
