6/24/2007 1:50:26 PM
ya that pretty much sucks people are prolly gonna get there at like 7 in the morn
6/24/2007 3:52:20 PM
I don't get it... why? It's not like there are seats, and there won't be that many people there. It'll be at capacity, but it's just a few hundred. Are they all just hoping to get to the front?
6/24/2007 5:05:04 PM
6/24/2007 5:12:36 PM
I'm sure they'll have a better grasp on the whole process by the time the majority of TWW peeps attend. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

6/24/2007 5:31:00 PM
I've never not been able to see at the Orange Peel, and I've stood at nearly every vantage point. Honestly, given the way the floor gently inclines further from the stage, I like giving myself some room and standing at the back. You can see still see the performer(s) perferctly fine in the back.
6/24/2007 6:15:44 PM
drink a few beers, move around to the music and people will get out of your way...has worked 99% of the time
6/24/2007 6:21:26 PM
^^ but I'm short [Edited on June 24, 2007 at 6:33 PM. Reason : and there's always some tall jerkoff who wants to be right in front of me]
6/24/2007 6:27:58 PM
^ yeah, that seems to always happen to me too, some tall jack ass deciding to plant himself directly in front of me and then not move.On the short note, I've been to concerts there with short people, and they've usually been able to see also. I think it's probably the best venue of its size that I've been to in terms of lay-out. Typically, it seems that clubs are long and skinny, so people toward the back are pretty much screwed, and really only people up front can see well. Cats Cradle is a good example. But The Orange Peel is short and wide so a.) more people can get up front and b.) the back isn't all that far back.[Edited on June 24, 2007 at 6:40 PM. Reason : I'm not going to any of the Pumpkins shows, I just feel like posting]

Line was really long, the opening band was celebration, it was SUPER hot inside, and they played for like three hours. The show was really good, though. Billy said he was in asheville like two minutes and some guy tried to sell him some weed.
6/25/2007 10:00:35 AM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVypsHHX4N0here's another video from the 23rd show--- about 5 minutes in length.
6/25/2007 10:27:06 AM
MACHINE GUN!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!??!!?!?!? oh my I would've orgasmed...even if it was a tease
6/25/2007 10:28:17 AM
i was at the show last night (6/24) and it was amazing. they absolutely rocked the house. starting off the show w/ Zero was awesome and Gossamer, the second encore, was about a 20 min jam session w/ guitar solos and a drum solo. i definitely walked out of that place thinking "holy shit that ending was nuts."as for the line, it wasnt bad at all, i guess it we got in line later than most (7:45, IIRC), and it moved fairly quickly. probably waited 15 min and they had a beer table set up so you could keep your buzz while waiting in line.there really wasnt a bad place to stand in the house either, like someone else said, its wide and shallow, and not skinny and deep.

yeah, they definitely had big bouncers patting people down. When I was getting my tickets, though, they only asked for my ID and didn't even look at my email confirmation or credit card.
6/25/2007 2:34:28 PM
i was thinkin of bringin a sony handheld camcorder. i guess it could kinda fit in my pocket depending on what shorts i wore, but do you think i'd have any trouble with that? it seemed like their main focus was no tripods and shit like that.
6/25/2007 2:44:20 PM
i was unaware of that lk, ill have ot look into itya theyre not letting tripods in which i can sort of understand, but handheld recorders suck balls
6/25/2007 3:15:05 PM
I think they may have raised the price cause we're staying at the asheville mall one for 119
6/25/2007 3:30:41 PM

6/25/2007 4:48:13 PM
ok folks. just got back from the first two nights. if anyone has questions, pm me or ask on here. let me say the first night was intense, but the second night was the better show. i think the mix was better, but mostly because billy just appeared to want to shred and scream a lot.my advice, the doors opened between 7:45-8 both nights. if you get in line by 6 o'clock you should be no less than four people back from the stage. there really isn't a bad view anywhere inside, but just so you know. after the first show a group of fans (from kentucky i was told) got immediately back in line for night no. 2. totally pointless (unless you don't have a place to stay or just want to do it because you think it would be fun.)surprise of night 1 was no doubt, hands down translucent for the hard-core fans. totally out of left field and a great, simple rendition. starla was my personal highlight. the band opened with three new tracks, then launched into three fan faves. UNITED STATES is a gem. that song can totally go down as one of this bands all-time bests. hummer was like a dream and lucky 13 is absolutely insane live. silverfuck included a bit of 'the end' by the doors in place of the "i hear you fade away ..." portion. a little dissapointed that they closed with with every light for the final encore, but such is life. billy also played a song by himself that he "wrote earlier" that day. he also played it again on night 2, following up with another new song he wrote on sunday morning.i got in line at 6:15 for night 2 and had two people between me and the stage. night 2 was just a totally better show IMO. 'crying tree' is totally redone, and it's just billy by himself. best version he's ever had of it. the new songs he has written while in asheville are incredible. cherub rock was the fan favorite and you could feel the building shaking (although that wasn't the only time). silverfuck didn't have the end tease, but instead started with the riff of hendrix's machine gun.i could go on and on, so just ask if you want to know something. a ton of shirts. new zero is $40, album cover t (in 4-5 colors) is $35. $50 limited asheville only t. guys and girls shirts, also selling the flag, etc...water is $1.75 at the peel. they sale beer outside to those in line as well. the crowd was awesome (i only saw about 4 people kicked out, 3 of which were on night 2 for trying to mosh during silverfuck). i think that the peel staff does an increidble job.if you get there by 5:45 you should be able to park behind the peel on the side of the street for free. there is a wild wing cafe two blocks down from the peel. i would park, go drink some beers at wild wing and then get in line. once you enter the peel, go ahead and get in your spot and don't move. wait until after to get your shirts.
6/25/2007 5:42:21 PM
^JUNGLE advice, b. thanks.
6/25/2007 5:52:52 PM
^^thanks for the info
6/25/2007 6:17:15 PM
glad to help you guys out. i'll offer more as i think of it. be sure to SAVE your legs! sit down on the floor before the opening band and sit down outside in line as much as you can. the pumpkins went on at 9:55 on night 1 and 10 pm on the dot on night 2. they get done between 12:55-1 am. last night i sat down outside and before the opening band, and when it was all over i felt ok. saturday i stood in line, got in and stood the whole time. when the pumpkins finished i my legs hurt so bad that i felt like i had walked into traffic.also i stayed at the sleep inn at 117 hendersonville rd. both nights. $99 single person rate is what they gave me. real convienient. right off of I40 and a tad under 3 miles from the peel. everyone i talked to in line about the days inn said the place was sketch.
6/25/2007 6:31:31 PM
^ so... once you find your spot, there's no going to get beers and what not, I take it? I mean, I'm cool with being a little further back and being able to get beers, I was just trying to get a feel for exactly how packed it ended up being in there. Also, I heard from someone else that it was incredibly loud... like, almost too loud, and that ear plugs were suggested--- do you think so ?
6/25/2007 7:20:19 PM
if you have a group of friends that can hold your sport, then you can probably get away with taking turns and getting beers. but only for so long. once the pumpkins come up, it's gonna get tighter and everyone that spent 6 hours waiting in the sun outside isn't going to take kindly to people trying to move up. security won't allow it either. if they see anyone causing a hint of trouble, they swoop in.the first night they played one long set and then two encores. night 2 they played one set, took about a 15 minute break, then came back. between sets there was a mad dash of people trying to move up. we all held our ground, although i thought a few fights migth erupt in a few places. it just depends on how the show goes, which songs are played when, etc... things of that nature.also, it is VERY loud. that being said, i didn't wear earplugs and i was fine. i enjoyed it to be honest. jimmy's drums are super prevalent. jimmy and billy are turned way up. i could hear jeff and ginger a lot more at night no. 2. during united states, cherub rock, silverfuck, zero (songs of that nature) you will feel the floor shake. it gets very loud.billy seems to really like ginger and jeff. he kided around with jeff on stage several times, trying to get him to duel with him, etc... on sunday night jeff got lost during the end of untitled and trying to find his spot by watching billy. billy saw this going on however, and turned his guitar around so jeff couldn't see. to be honest, jeff sounds really good. ginger is better than d'arcy. sad but true.
6/25/2007 7:54:34 PM
lol that's pretty funny that billy turned away. you'd think that after more than a month of playing these songs live he'd have a pretty good feel for the song and not get lost.
6/25/2007 8:03:50 PM
i'm getting stoked as hell now
6/25/2007 8:52:42 PM
thanks, abyopp, that's really helpful
6/25/2007 8:59:01 PM
booked the patton days inn for $98 on the 29th, but they switched it from 2 doubles to a king after i confirmed everything... i'll have to try and call em and see what's up w/that. used orbitz.
6/25/2007 9:27:36 PM
very nice info, exactly what i was hoping for A+++++

6/26/2007 10:26:08 AM
I've stayed at the days inn on patton ave three times for shows and I don't see why everyone says it's so sketchy. The room was clean, maids came by to see if we needed more towels like three times, my room had a nice flat screen tv (not plasma or anything, but flat screen), and it was only like $90. Lets put it this way, I've stayed in MUCH worse. For the price and proximity to everything downtown it's not bad at all. I've stayed off of tunnel road before and I wouldn't do that again.
6/26/2007 10:39:12 AM
I'm leaving in 2 hours to drive up to Asheville for today and tomorrow nights shows. Jaysus, time is crawling at work.
6/26/2007 10:41:21 AM
maybe the days inn everyone was calling sketch was the one on tunnel then...good to hear, although i could deal with sketch for the price and proximity to the orange peel anyway. a half mile away is easily walking distance and i won't have to worry about finding a parking spot when i get there.
