**spoiler alertdid the joker give batman mixed up addresses for the 2 captives or did batman just choose to save that particular captive?I missed that and my buddy said joker gave him mixed up addresses on purposeend spoiler
7/18/2008 4:09:30 PM
mixed up on purposeimo, it was a bit predictable
7/18/2008 4:12:26 PM

people are saying they were the only people in the theater laughing for the pencil disappearing act? tons of people laughed at that...
7/18/2008 6:11:49 PM
not where i was of course, the theater was full of whores dressed up like they're going to the club for the first time ever
7/18/2008 6:14:51 PM
ahahaand whoever suggested the watchmen annotations, I think I'll read it once first and then maybe again after reading that.
7/18/2008 6:18:09 PM
Most of the theater applauded after the pencil trick.
7/18/2008 6:19:46 PM
spoiler alertending kind of caught me off guard...I thought the joker should have died and two-face live. I guess since I know heath can't reprise the role. However, I think they should NOT make another one. Noway it will match up. They will probably have 2-face come back adn another villain...Money will drive the next one....End spoiler

I really enjoyed the movie. However, I saw it at a really shitty theater out here in OBX and some line couldn't be heard.
7/18/2008 8:20:36 PM
I loved the film and plan on seeing it again sometime next week, this time in IMAX
7/18/2008 8:21:22 PM

amazingseeing it in the IMAX next week
7/18/2008 11:00:24 PM
Was able to get out and see it. Straight butter. The movie was excellent. Yes money will drive a 3rd, but I think interest and just the sheer level that batman has going for it will help spin another. I really think they did an excellent job. I went in believing it would be good, but it far exceeded my expectations. III
7/18/2008 11:24:01 PM
I thought it was pretty good.Heath Ledger was pretty awesome, but with the make-up, he could be replaced (please not Johnny Depp). They did it with Katie Holmes.
7/19/2008 12:30:06 AM
yeah 1st 1/4th of the movie I was like, huh this all kinda standard fare, I don't know what everybodys talking aboutand then it picked up nicely and got a little bit curvy (i wouldn't really call anything a huge twist but there were just so many little curves that it wasn't completely predictable popcorn fare)was overall pleased with the joker, I had a real fear going in that it would lack the sort of playfulness you see in like the animated series version (mark hamill ftw)though I would have liked to have seen one of those moments where the joker loses his cool and goes from 0 to psycho in 1.5 sec flat, and yeah I know he went psycho but it was always a well controlled crazy
7/19/2008 12:59:08 AM
******POTENTIAL SPOILERS***^^The only problem there is the new Joker living up to heath's performance, which I think would be pretty tough. I bet they go with 2 face and/or another villian in the next one. Incredible movie, I want to go see it in the IMAX now. ^ there's the one scene where he yells at the fake batman I think? you can only hear him there though[Edited on July 19, 2008 at 1:02 AM. now that they cant bring back Joker, im sure theres a way they can carry the character over in the form of The Riddler. the 3rd one will be badass if Nolan directs. but Ledger's Joker is one of the best performances i've ever seen. he's exactly the kind of joker i wanted; not some over the top douche but a psychotic sadist. Nolan has apparently said he's not going to use penguin because hes too far fetched. in the next movie i think it's a safe bet to assume the villians will be Riddler and maybe Poison Ivy to add another female to the cast. still, its going to take a LOT to top ledger's joker, and I have to add Eckhart's two-face was fucking awesome as well. I didn't know Two Face was going to make it into the movie and Eckhart's great performance was a delightful surprise. In the end, I think every actor did an outstanding job, but Joker stood above the rest. Never would have seen that coming from Ledger. Like somebody above said, you would never know it was him unless you saw his name. Same goes for Eckhart; I never expected him to play his role that well. All that being said, my personal favorite scenes in the movie (spoilers):The magic trick scene. Fucking awesome introduction to the Joker. The scene where Joker takes out Gambler and gives his "Why so serious" monologue. The scene with Two Face and Commissioner Gordon's family. That was pretty fucking powerful.end spoiler

just got done seeing this and i can say that for the 1st time in a long time i got my moneys worth at the moviesabsolutely spectacular, joker was as good and better as everyone said he'd bebut

^I thought batman said he was going after Rachel, could be wrong.Great movie though!!!
7/19/2008 1:24:47 AM
^^how can you say Batman changed his mind and went after Dent? As he was running out of the building he told Gordon he was going to get Rachel. What, did he call Gordon from his Batphone on his Batpod to say, "LOL j/k I'm going to get Dent, you get Rachel?"[Edited on July 19, 2008 at 1:31 AM. Reason : ]
7/19/2008 1:31:23 AM
yeah, the addressees were mixed up.. he thought he was going to save rachel and he even was surprised when he found denti kinda wish we had seen one last thing from that guy trying to blackmail wayneand the disappearing pencil thing was the best
7/19/2008 1:34:03 AM
^homeboy got toasted
7/19/2008 1:35:05 AM
i dont think so, i must've missed him saying rachel, but how could he save her and not save gotham's white knightit doesnt make sense
7/19/2008 1:36:11 AM
^ SPOILERSSTo clarify, the joker mixed the addressed on purpose. But, definitely a great movie. MUCH more than I expected, and definitely better than the first one. I'll have to think on it more, but it could be one of the best movies i've ever seen.
7/19/2008 1:36:14 AM
just saw it at the imax, fucking great.SPOILERSand batman definitely said he was going to save rachel and joker gave him the mixed up addresses because he knew who he would chose and he wanted batman to save dent while rachel died. I was kinda expecting him not to kill rachel though, would have been a great twist to have rachel come back at the end alive and see what happened to dent and reject him further pushing him over the edge.
7/19/2008 1:37:25 AM
well, it's not like Gordon is incompetent ... Bats probably figured both could be saved with Gordon's help.

the bitch who played rachel was heinous (in comparison to Katie Holmes) and a bad actor.

So what was the deal with the Scarecrow at the beginning? It seemed like he was the leader of the vigilante group that were dressed up like Batman, but I don't see why the Scarecrow would want to help Batman/fight crime.Awesome movie though. I was very skeptical at first hearing that Ledger was gonna be the Joker, but he really nailed it. Dare I say it, I think he surpassed Jack Nicholson (Although it makes me laugh every time in the first Batman movie when Batman is about to punch him and he puts on a pair of glasses and shouts "YOU WOULDN'T HIT A GUY WITH GLASSES, WOULD YA?").I really liked how they focused on all of the characters instead of just on Bruce Wayne/Batman.
7/19/2008 2:11:52 AM
^^ I agreeto me katie holmes just doesn't come off as intelligent or principled as the character needed to be.[Edited on July 19, 2008 at 2:12 AM. Reason : ]
7/19/2008 2:11:56 AM
^^i don't think scarecrow was associated with the batman look-alikes, because they were trying to kill both parties involved
7/19/2008 2:13:43 AM
*****SPOILER**************was it just me or did they make it seem that dent died at the end? cause people keep saying he will be in the next one but i just got the vibe that he died. ******************************
7/19/2008 2:16:31 AM
yeah, they seemed like they killed him off, which really suprised me. but who knows. maybe they just kinda tucked him away and told people he died. at least thats what they could do to explain his return in a third movie.question is who will be the next main villain. I've heard nolan doesn't like the penguin character, so thats out.
7/19/2008 2:19:32 AM
my guess would be the riddler but i have absolutely nothing to base that on.
7/19/2008 2:26:56 AM
7/19/2008 2:30:40 AM
But if the Scarecrow wasn't associated with the Batman vigilantes, I'd think Batman would physically turn him into the police instead of just tying him up and telling him "Don't let me catch you out here again"I'd really like to see Mr. Freeze as the next villain, the travesty that was Batman & Robin was a horrible portrayal. I'd like to see Mr. Freeze in a manner like in the Animated Series. And on the topic of the Riddler, I gotta say, even though Batman Forever wasn't that good a movie, Jim Carrey really did do a good job playing him. If they do the Riddler, I'd like to see him come back in future movies as a "reformed" private detective like in the comics.
7/19/2008 2:33:02 AM
^ the problem with Mr Freeze is that they might feel his technological aspect is too overthetop for the type of movie they're trying to do. I think the Riddler could be interesting, but he's similar to the joker. It's a tragedy though that ledger had to die. I didn't care about his death when I first heard about it, but after seeing this movie, it kind of makes me sad a little.
7/19/2008 2:40:02 AM
It would almost have to be. Granted, I'm not as up on my Batman villains as a lot of people, but if Penguin is too farfetched for Nolan, then that'll rule out Clayface, Mr Freeze, and maybe even Poison Ivy and Bane as well. So, of the other major villains, that leaves The Riddler, Mad Hatter, and maybe Catwoman or Harley Quinn acting on behalf of a locked up Joker?
7/19/2008 2:41:28 AM
7/19/2008 2:52:10 AM
^^^ no. scarecrow and the fake batmen were not related.they were shooting at him, and batman only tied them up because they had guns.this was so much better on imax. i'm glad i saw it on imax the second time - seeing it the second time made the movie better anyways, but moving up to imax was the icing on the cake.
