I can understand not accept credit cards or checks or whatever else...but cash is legal US tender, I'm not sure how they can refuse to accept it
10/28/2007 4:30:26 PM
not to mention the fact that if you want to buy an iPhone for a SO or a family member as a gift...and then end up breaking yours and have to buy a new one. What are they going to say? Sorry you've already bought 2 iphones...try verizon's chocolate though.
10/28/2007 4:37:08 PM
so it is just a way to keep track of the number that you have purchasedjust use a different credit card number if you want another one
10/28/2007 4:52:41 PM
They probably keep up with names too, and your name is on the mag stripe of the card..not sure what exactly it records or doesn't, but it is feasible to record your name too... although limiting purchases based just on a name is absurd, since common names would of course pose quite an issue

FWIW, the statement on the bills are "This note is legal tender for all debts public and private". The key word to note there is "debt" which has a very specific legal meaning. When you walk into a store to buy a product, you are not in debt to the store, they can still refuse to sell you the product. On the otherhand, if the store offers to let you have the product and puts it on your tab, then you are in debt to the store and they must accept US currency as payment for that debt. In reality, a store could insist that the only form of payment they accept is chicken feet and as long as they never allow you to put yourself in debt to them, it's perfectly legal.

Comments on Software Version 1.1.1* Phone hangs when placing phone calls and using bluetooth (occurs when attempting to dial immediately after a call) (1 / 3 chance of it happening)* When placing in Airplane Mode the phone is on already when I unlock it* No Mark as Spam support for Yahoo Mail* No support for Outlook Calendar Invitations* No search function for Contacts* No video support in Camera* Safari will randomly shut down (typically with Java applications)* No Flash support
10/30/2007 11:23:25 AM
^ i think several of those items belong to an "iphone comments/issues" list, not specifically a software version 1.1.1 list
10/30/2007 12:16:33 PM
yeah I was about to post the same thing
10/30/2007 1:17:43 PM
True.. I agree with most of them but they aren't related to the update per say
10/30/2007 1:31:31 PM
I just noticed today that if your phone is locked and you turn it on. Before you slide to unlock you can double click the home button to bring up iPod controls without ever having to 'unlock' the phone. Pretty neat. Up until then I was under the impression that the phone had to be unlocked to double tap the home button in order to bring up the ipod controls over any window. And music had to be playing in order for this to work.If you double tap it on the unlock screen regardless of music being played...the controls will appear.

i got a really good deal on an ipod touch on eBay so i guess i'll get some taste of the iphone. i would have just bought the iphone, but i'm locked with verizon and get the best service through them so i'll stick it out with my motorola q. i changed the registry and homescreen and it looks a lot like an iphone now anyway.

^that could lead to accidental calls so I think its best that they left that off. Double tap while the phone is unlocked does bring up favorites though.

^^^ i know...thanks to verizon

cool. That's not bad for how much I use a cell phone.Another question. Can you install putty or a ssh client without having to hack it?
1/2/2008 1:27:59 PM
The next iphone patch makes it a million times more useful stock, btw, if you are afraid of modding.
1/2/2008 1:29:28 PM
dude, 200 texts and unlimited data is almost enough to make me switch. i am starting to seriously consider it now, but att doesn't work in my hometown (unless it roams i think and you pay, but i don't know please shed light on this if you can) and the coverage for att seems pretty shitty according to the coverage map shown on the att website.
1/2/2008 1:32:54 PM
I've hacked about every thing electronic I've ever owned and screwed some up beyond repair so I'm not against hacking it... I just don't wanna completely destroy something I just paid $400 for Judging from what I've read about the iPhone all I would want on it is putty or another good ssh client. I almost got a treo but compared to the treo the iPhone is a better deal.
1/2/2008 1:47:53 PM
yes, the monthly payment, and the fact that on the iphone website you can get a 2 year iphone care coverage for $0.00 i think i just my be an iphone owner b4 the day is over with. if anyone has a 4gb for a reasonable price tell them to pm me.

Has there been any update on corporate accounts supporting iphones?
1/4/2008 5:06:08 PM
corporate accounts as in exchange?http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07/12/13/apple_working_on_improved_exchange_support_for_iphone.html

I think he means... If he got a job at IBM what are the odds he would be given a iPhone for his job....
1/4/2008 5:31:12 PM
that's what i thought too but what would that question even mean in that context? i'm sure some companies allow iphones, some don't. what kind of update could there be
1/4/2008 8:40:16 PM
Does anybody else get much better reception when it's plugged in? I get 1, 2 bars max, most everywhere in my apt, but when it's plugged in I always get 3-5 bars - even when I just have the USB cord dangling from the phone and not plugged in to the computer.
1/6/2008 2:19:05 PM
whats the deal on the new software version? whens it coming out?also, whats the safest/most painless way to load custom ringtones?
1/6/2008 2:26:26 PM
^^ i asked that question about 10 times throughout this thread and never have gotten a good answer, but I notice the same thing. I get one bar at max at my parents house when its not on the dock but on the dock I get almost a full signal. It doesn't matter if it's plugged in or not, just sitting on the dock seems to do the trick
1/6/2008 2:27:46 PM
probably will come out around macworldwhen is that. soon, right?
1/6/2008 2:28:07 PM
DakotaThe antenna is located in the bottom segment of the phone where the USB port is located as well.I wouldn't be surprised if the cord was acting as an antenna extension.
1/6/2008 5:32:25 PM
any rumors on when 1.1.3 will be out?
1/6/2008 9:40:27 PM
I would imagine in the next few weeks before the sdk.I'm really looking forward to the website suortcuts and cell tower triangulation features
