rough week. its hilarious to hear all these people panicking though i mean damn people with accounts up 10-12% YTD in JUNE and they go nuts when it goes down a couple points one week.

6/27/2007 10:23:57 AM

to sell CSCO or not to....finger is on the trigger and kinda twitchy
6/28/2007 11:20:44 AM
Why are you thinking about selling?
6/28/2007 11:41:56 AM
couple of reasons1 - diversification... with ESPP and ESOP, i have way more exposure to CSCO than I need.2 - Profit taking/wanna pay off my vehicle. Already realized a 60% gain, so it's a good time. Plus, historically, right after i sell any ESPP, the stock shoots up. I sold some ESPP last year around this time, and a week later the stock began its move from $18 to $28. So, trying to make history repeat itself. I think i might wait it out and see what tomorrow brings. I'll probably just put in a stop so that if today's gains start slipping I'll still get a good chunk of it.
6/28/2007 12:26:42 PM
Is there a free list pf penny stocks. Anything under $5 a share. I found a bunch of places that will give your everything but for quite a fee. If someone could PM it to me I would greatly appreciate it.One more question, sorry, If you own stock in a company and it is bought out what happens?[Edited on June 28, 2007 at 1:54 PM. Reason : asdf]
6/28/2007 1:47:00 PM
It will probably go up.
6/28/2007 2:18:46 PM
i'm not giving any advice on penny stocks.if the company gets bought out, you either get cash or stock in the acquiring company -- depends on the deal.
6/28/2007 2:19:02 PM
i wanted to punch myself in the face for not buying RIMM at 130 -- i was addicted to my crackberry since i got it back in 2005. i should know better.seeing BIDU continue to tear it up made me feel better though.
6/29/2007 10:47:46 AM
^ Ha. I remember playing with RIMM when it was below 70
6/29/2007 12:14:59 PM
Amusing intro to an Apple article
6/29/2007 1:30:11 PM
anyone been following LLNW (they're a competitor to Akamai, recent IPO)?dropped from a high of ~20 2 weeks ago to 15 this week, and bounced back 16% in the last hour or so.
6/29/2007 2:17:48 PM
^^^ i played with RIMM in the 90s (the decade)
6/29/2007 3:16:59 PM
^ I can't compete with that.Holy shit. I just looked at RIMM.
6/29/2007 3:47:51 PM
Apple releases iPhone...RIMM stock jumps 4%.
7/2/2007 11:33:23 AM
^ jumped 20% on friday too.MDR gave me a scare right after I bought it, dropped down to $76 a few days after I bought in at $84, now back up to almost $86.
7/2/2007 11:35:30 AM
anyone own MS? if so, 've you been credited with shares of Discover yet?
7/2/2007 1:41:13 PM
also, bought EMC jsut under 18 last week.anyone still messing with TIE? i'm thinking now might be a good re-entry
7/2/2007 3:13:36 PM
It also might be a good time to get into SHLDNot sure if anyone read about it Newsweek, but this spring they securitized Craftsman, Kenmore, and DieHard into their own company that licenses the names. Basically all the cash stays in the 2 companies, but at any point they could sell $1.6 billion in corporate bonds. The stock has already increased 50% since Eddie Lampert took over a year ago. He's the guy who made Warren Buffett a shitload of his money in the 90s.
7/2/2007 3:46:18 PM
I already have a scottrade account. Do I have to create a brand new account for a roth ira?
7/2/2007 3:53:21 PM
^^^been watching TIE, i think they're incredibly oversold. 20 P/E and 30% growth... If i end up getting out of any of my current positions, TIE is probably what I'll get into.Other stocks that I'm watching closely:LLNW (more for entertainment than anything else, they keep swinging up and down wildly)AMX - on of my Motley Fools CAPS picks back in march, they're up 35% since then, and still have room to grow.ATW - It was a coin flip to buy this or MDR to get some oil sector exposure, but they're both doing ok.
7/2/2007 4:14:13 PM
I just checked out my brokerage account and I'm not seeing anything from Discover yet.
7/2/2007 6:04:46 PM
7/2/2007pretty high market right now YTDwhat is everyones bond/equity (not just speculative equities) YTD %'smine is 13.37%(mutual funds)i want to hear how well ya'll are doing - i cannot keep up with what crap you buy every other week...
7/2/2007 10:27:01 PM
i don't buy bonds, and rarely buy options (if i do, its usually just calls). i don't ever short, and don't do puts.i'm probably up about 15% this year. i was up over 25% before June. i had a lot of travel and work related stress in May and June, and got rattled enough to make a bunch of lousy decisions.
7/2/2007 11:24:22 PM
~9%
7/2/2007 11:55:09 PM
14%Mostly thanks to Fidelty International Discovery and Harbor international. my stock picks have been meh on the whole.
