Bizarro game tonight. Canes' power play went 1 for 16, and alternated between horrendous passing and tons of turnovers and beautiful goals. Every Canes goal was a beauty tonight, including another Eric Staal PerfectShot, but FOUR odd-man chances given up WHILE WE'RE ON THE POWER PLAY!!?!?If every man on that team didn't buy Gerber a drink tonight, I'll be miffed.[Edited on December 24, 2005 at 1:01 AM. 16 power plays and one ppg? dear god.[Edited on December 26, 2005 at 12:01 AM. Reason : -]
12/26/2005 12:00:47 AM
On top of that, the single PP goal was a roofed wrister from Brindy (league leader in PP goals) that wasn't much of a man-advantage type play at all.
12/26/2005 2:39:52 AM
who gives a fuck!? a W is a W, and they've got a 9pt lead on the division w/games in hand
12/26/2005 7:17:59 AM
All I'm sayin' is that each and every man on that team owes Gerber a free dinner for that game.
12/26/2005 2:29:13 PM
this game has had some interesting goals
12/26/2005 8:14:23 PM
the last goal was beasttoo bad nobody was there when that puck trickled in front of the net
12/26/2005 8:49:29 PM
and staal gets another +1 for being on the ice. i think hes been on the ice for 3 of our 4
12/26/2005 9:21:09 PM
tampa is getting away with so much holding late in the game here.
12/26/2005 10:00:25 PM
defensive breakdown in OT.just plain no defense in this OT. [Edited on December 26, 2005 at 10:02 PM. Reason : -]
12/26/2005 10:02:13 PM
i know they dont like to call penalties real late in the game and in OT, but that one was pretty bad, behind the net there in OT
12/26/2005 10:08:33 PM
^^^^Eric Staal was even on the night. He was on the ice for two of Tampa's even strenght goals and two of the Hurricanes even strength goals. He doesn't get a plus for being on the ice when we score a power play goal.

12/28/2005 7:55:56 PM
being a sabres fan for 4 years, its true that hasek at times can mentally destroy a team. hes beatable. but often it seems as though he is not.
12/28/2005 8:10:24 PM
i knew they would score. they had an amazing period.
12/28/2005 8:14:50 PM

Canes made two trades today:Colin Forbes to Washington/Manitoba for Stephen Peat.Pavel Brendl to Phoenix for Krys Kolanos.Peat is a fighter for Lowell. Kolanos has a lot of skill but has bounced around a lot, just like Brendl. However, we know Brendl doesn't want to work to stay here, so some new blood is an excellent thing.

I hate the flyers, but Antero Niittymaki is a great name.

We just didn't have our legs the last 10 min of regulation tonight. The highlight of the game in our section was one of the rink guys bringing a puck to one of the girls in the front row. It had a piece of tape on it that said "#29 REF, meet me at Sullivan's tonight if you're single." Then he kept eyeing her when he had a chance. No joke. Nothing like keeping his eyes on the game. She passed it around and we all had a good laugh at it, plus she seemed elated by the whole thing. [Edited on December 29, 2005 at 10:18 PM. Reason : .]
12/29/2005 10:17:06 PM
^that's also the same official that got hit in the head w/a puck in the first... so maybe it was a post-concussion attempt

the canes need a goally
12/30/2005 1:27:36 AM
^ WTF are you talking about, Cam was standing on his head as the defense was crumbling around him. The third one was bad, but he stopped at least five ridiculous chances, and the Forsberg save (and the presence of mind to stayed sealed on the rebound) was fan-fucking-tastic.
