Nothing is more worthless than a base camper who C4's jets and helicopters (well, maybe a sniper perched on a crane). I usually track those people down after I respawn and knife them. What is more fun is standing on a building or hilltop, somewhere where a helo will fly low trying to strafe you, then throw up some C4 onto it as it passes over and killing it midair. Those are the most satisfying.I really wish they would fix how long it takes for helos to get off the ground. You are a sitting duck for so long. It wasn't that bad in BFV.
9/12/2005 2:11:08 PM
you talk about BFV in just about every post
9/12/2005 2:51:55 PM
Man, WTF is up with the Radeon drivers and this game? I just got a PCIE X800XL and get shit performance, random objects, and graphical lag at times. And yes, the rest of my system smokes (AMD 64 4000+, 2 GB OCZ Ram, 2x 160GB Seagate SATA drives, A8N Premium mobo, blah, blah, blah)

^Yeah, but they totally screwed it with subsquent patches. Talk about horrible netcode!
9/12/2005 4:52:49 PM
Actually I hadn't mentioned BFV since page 15.Also, it is easy to compare the two being that BF2 is the sequel. Considering I spent over 250 hours playing BFV and played it competitively for a while, I spent a lot of time learning the nuances of the game.Anyway, I found this today:http://bf2tracker.com/bf2_gameinfo.php?action=awardsGreat list of how you get medals, ribbons, and badges. I've seen lists before, but not one that breaks down what you have to do to get them. I guess the lists have been out there before but I've never bothered to check.

^Yeah I was about to post that one
9/12/2005 5:18:28 PM
I had an AA APC and a normal APC sitting directly next to each other firing on a waypoint. If I strafe them I die because a tree is partially in my strafing line. But I figure its damn well worth it because they are probably healing each other. So I strafe them, kill them both, and die cause of the tree. This all happened real fast so there was no way to reposition for a better line.I am hoping to god that little bird is as good as I think it is. I can imagine getting a full load of guys, mapping the earth tearing ass drop down quick drop them off at a point, then tearing ass back to another pickup point. You wont be able to get shot down from another helicopter unless they get a lucky hellfire off. Your only worries are AA positions and Jets. BUt I would like to think its maneuverable enough to dodge missles if you run out of flares(if they have flares). But I am probably giving its maneuverability to much credit. Also, will the mod make a new EXE or am I gonna load the mod in original BF2?
9/12/2005 9:02:33 PM
i thought BFV was just a terrible mod for BF1942 (the real game this is based on)
9/12/2005 9:04:45 PM
No offense but you probably just didn't play it enough or give it a fair chance. I've tried 1942 and it's slow compared to BFV (and BFV is slow compared to BF2). Helicopters totally change the way the game is played. To each his own though...
9/13/2005 10:01:40 AM
eh, i wasnt in the US the year BFV was releasedbut BF1942: Wake Island Demo was a lot of fun a few years ago

Along with Desert Combat, Battlefield 1918 and Battlefield Pirates were my favorite mods
9/13/2005 1:00:19 PM
cant forget point of existence for BFV.
9/13/2005 1:01:06 PM
I almost forgot about that one. It's BF2 without the annoying ass commander/artillery/UAV bullshit.
9/13/2005 1:04:15 PM
PoE was fun, but it was way to vehicle dependent. If you were on foot when a tank came round, you were screwed. I liked the AA vehicles in the game though, they seem to be very similar in BF2.I have to say that once they fix a lot of the little issues with BF2 (which are rumored to be in the next patch), it will be the best of the series.
9/13/2005 1:58:05 PM

9/13/2005 5:32:48 PM
I know I've said it before.. but I am never ever playing on EA Official whatever servers.... I now have a headache from the skipping - but the worst part were the total fuckin idiots on the team - next time Ops.. you pick.. I am now kick/banning myself from server selecting privelages after that.[Edited on September 13, 2005 at 8:20 PM. Reason : wow]
9/13/2005 8:20:08 PM
ooh i wanna play
9/13/2005 9:15:11 PM
EA servers are the absolute worst! i avoid them like the plague.
9/14/2005 12:07:33 AM
hahah that server was lame as hell. We got shot down by our own AA in the Cobra. The thing is, he kept a lock on us most of the round, so it wasn't like it was a slip of the finger accident. I had the high score one round for the US with a whopping 17 points.Although it was fun to shoot the pilots out of the Z-10 with the Blackhawk chain gun. I love seeing the helicopter spin into infinity afterwards.
9/14/2005 9:24:16 AM
ooh ooh I didn't know the Black Hawk chain gun could shoot through cockpits!!! Looks like I'll be having some fun with that tonight.
9/14/2005 9:54:18 AM
yeah - instead of us getting to have our own little chopper dogfight we had 1 enemy AA and 1 FRIENDLY AA both locking onto us all match long. We would get engaged in the fight and have to go find the enemy AA gun - blow it up - then run away injured if we could due to all the AA fire and attempting to dodge missles from the other chopper the whole time. When we noticed the AA lock after killin the AA gun I assumed it was the jets or another enemy AA gun.. not so.We had no idea what the hell was going on at first - thought it was all enemy AA until we got shot down.. makes much more sense now because the friendly was seriously locked onto us for awhile.. when he DID shoot us down I was trying my best to take cover over a hillside after he was constantly firing in our direction - either he didn't care that we were a friendly - didnt identify us - was a griefer - or just a total moron... but regardless... he was one of the many intelligent members of our team on that server and it retaught me the lesson of why i will not play on EA Official servers
9/14/2005 11:34:28 AM
since when does friendly AA give a tone
9/14/2005 12:05:25 PM
I didn't think it did either, but apparently so. I think what happened is that we were being toned by the enemy for a bit but lost him. The friendly fired and the missle locked on to us and toned us again before it hit.Either way, it was definitely a friendly that shot us down and we were being toned before we were hit.
9/14/2005 12:18:15 PM
apparently sniper rifles can shoot through cockpits too cause i've definitely been sniped out of the Cobra pilot's seat many a time.
9/14/2005 12:49:31 PM
^Only the upgraded sniper rifle shoots through cockpits. The basic ones aren't powerful enough.
9/14/2005 1:03:16 PM
so who wants to point farm?
9/14/2005 2:12:14 PM
I find that missiles are really retarded sometimesI've shot at an enemy helicopter from my plane, the missiles curve around to avoid the chopper, and blow up a friendly one behind itI was surprised when no one punished me though, nice couple of guys
9/14/2005 2:56:01 PM
^That is probably cause since they are in planes/choppers, the same thing has happened to them. Generally I don't punish if I get team killed in a plane unless some idiot crashed into me or a sniper on my team shot me. I do agree about the missiles though. I will have a lock on an enemy plane and the missile will come within inches of him and then suddenly veer down and hit one of my tanks or black hawks. How come they never veer away and hit an enemy vehicle?

Awesome didn't know that program was out there. Just downloaded it.How the hell do you have almost 20 hours in a jet with only 12 kills? Here's a link to my stats, current as of now:http://www.mr-sparkle.com/opstand.htm
9/14/2005 5:58:30 PM
that's a good question..lol. i never really anymore in the jet so that musta been in the way beginning when i 1st got the game. i would just kinda fly around not really doing much..lol

^ sometimes I wish I could wipe my old data just so I could get a more accurate/current rating of how I play because I know I sure as hell SUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED at this game when I started - didn't play BF1942 much to be preparedhttp://webpages.uncc.edu/~blrichar/breezer.htmnice idea for a program since the dynamic updating sites are still not active like they used to beit needs # of medals though I noticededit - it is in the program - 36B, 26G, 22S[Edited on September 14, 2005 at 7:31 PM. I said something like "That is some fucking bullshit" and was insta-banned........... fucking pussies
9/14/2005 9:35:35 PM
9/14/2005 9:56:53 PM
even if they aren't locked on to anything, AA missiles, fired from either a plane or an AA tank or an AA emplacement, will lock onto the closest heat source. It wont give you tone when he's tracking you in the emplacement, but as soon as the dumbass pulls the trigger, the heatseeker will go after you anyways, giving you tone in the cockpit. And yes, I hope they fix the fucking missiles, I think I complained about that on page 2 or 3
9/14/2005 10:00:17 PM
How many points do you get for capturing flags/defending flags? And whats the fastest way to gain rank?
9/14/2005 11:46:14 PM
medic

Support also gets you points too, just make sure you throw down TONS of ammo packs. If you want to get plenty of points in one round, get a black hawk squad together. Make sure there are at least two engineers in the back and one of the crew is support. Every time someone kills an enemy in the chain gun, you will get a driver kill assist. If you are gunning, you get mad points. Also, aside from just repairing, the engineers can throw mines out of the back and continuously get re-supplied (this works with snipers too).
9/15/2005 7:29:44 AM
medic on a large map 32/64 size is the easy way to get pts on a ground mapblackhawk is the cheesiest easy wayi still say get in a damn tank and kill some shit - quickest combat methodyou get 2pts for a neutral and 2 for a capture if you were the first person to enter the flag capture areayou get 1pt for assisting (neutral or capture)this is why you see some people who play support or medic who run around capturing things just dropping kits everywhere get like 40 team points in a round just from flags and kits without doing a damn thing in combat
9/15/2005 7:44:06 AM
^Well combat isn't necessary (although it helps). Ammo packs are useful, especially if you have the upgraded assault rifle or if you are anti-tank.
