no one pm'd me oddsmaker had the favored american idol kid at +350 when all other bookies had him at -200. I never do these kinds of bets, but naturally when I heard, I had to take it.

wtf is oddsmaker. Couldn't you bet on both sites for a definite win?
5/21/2008 5:31:54 PM
http://www.oddsmaker.comYou could have bet the 200 max on cook at OM's +350 and bet archuleta @ 2:1 on another site for a definite 400 yeah. Dunno why they were that insane this morning, I was scrambling trying to get as much cash onto that site as possible before the odds changed.

Why you would call half of your stack with 99 is beyond me. IMO, you had two options. Either fold (which was probably the right move) or push to isolate the all-in in front of you so LEMMEX wouldn't call.I mean think about it, what are the initial pushers range of pushing hands there?2 overcards..... very likelyoverpair (which he had) underpair (perhaps)A-x (hopefully the x is less than a 9)bluff (probably not)I mean, in almost every feasable situation in my mind, you were calling with at best a coinflip. Would you have played 22 the same way? Honestly it might as well be the same hand in this situation.
5/25/2008 4:15:47 PM
I probably would have pushed.[Edited on May 25, 2008 at 4:19 PM. Reason : ]

Let me try to explain why I just called that hand - I'd been at that table long enough to see what kind of raises these people were doing and I was able to see a bunch of cards because nearly everything got past the river on calls and so forth. The dude with Qs was especially making some bad raises on rags or cards he probably shouldn't be playing out of position. From just a few hands prior to that one, nobody was calling anything, so I figured his bet was sufficient to call without putting all my chips at risk for whatever reason and not have any real threats in front of me. I did get nervous when the guy in front of me made the call and especially nervous when all those clubs came out. But, alas, he was just checking it; moreso because he didn't have shit instead of trying to get me in a trap. Yes, it was a "coinflip" but I got lucky enough and I'm still learning some stuff. Freerolls are not going to deter me from experimentation and I think this was probably one of the rare instances where I was playing into the situation, albeit making mistakes, instead of sticking strictly by the book.

He only had 7 outs going into the river, so he was 15% give or take. You made the right play, you just ran into a moron who didn't realize he was only 15% to win and he was just focused on the fact that he had the nut flush draw and "OMG I HAVE THE NUT FLUSH DRAW, MUST NOT FOLD EVER". Its amazing how many people can't lay down a draw on the turn no matter how much you bet. People like that watch way too much TV poker.
