Rob Crisp was #2 according to Rivals. Toney Baker was #1...was he an Amato recruit? I know he played for TOB, but i don’t remember who recruited him
12/12/2018 7:51:27 PM
Oh yea maybe it was TOBPer rivals, pressley and baker got us two #1s in a row

big fan of baker. sucks he couldn’t stay healthy, dude was a monster
12/12/2018 10:35:02 PM
Toney Baker the Touchdown Maker aka the Tackle BreakerRooks looks good, but I'm not expecting him to be some butterstick baller from day 1, based on a video of him beating white cornerbacks
12/12/2018 10:55:54 PM
Hey, there are good white cornerbacks.I mean, remember Jason Sehorn?
12/12/2018 11:14:16 PM
Rooks was a 5* top 12 player in the country at one point, but that was after his SO year, now he's slid back to the 50ish range. Not sure if other kids showed up or if he didn't have as strong of a year. Best thing about landing Rooks early is that he's sorta like Drake Thomas in the '19 class. He's friends with a lot of the top prospects we're on and he's already said he's going to be a major recruiter for us. If he helps us land Downs(4*), Muhammad III(4*), Mayes(4*), and Evans(4*) like he says he's going to, then hell yeah. He also said he's going to actively try to flip Kedrick Bingley-Jones(4* DE committed to UF).
12/13/2018 10:07:04 AM
Ah yes the #1 recruit in the state who is also top 50 in the the nation is so sought after bc of his ability to recruit. Can't wait to see him recruit in an NC State uniform![Edited on December 13, 2018 at 10:16 AM. Reason : E]

No #sources or anything but I do wonder if Ben Finley could follow Drink to App. Normally I wouldn’t worry much about App getting our recruits, we’re obviously ahead of them in the pecking order. But this seems like it may be a case of the younger Finley really liking Drinkwitz...although he also had other P5 offers. So who knows. Pure speculation from me.
12/13/2018 11:03:34 AM
Ryan is most likely going to the NFL. I think if Ben also wants to go to the NFL, he'd better stay here and play for Doeren than go to App State.
12/13/2018 12:23:49 PM
QB is an important enough position that no matter where you go, if you're good enough you'll get noticed. it's why josh allen, carson wentz, paxton lynch have been recent round 1 picks from smaller schools.
12/13/2018 12:29:09 PM
Yeah it wouldn't surprise me if he eventually ended up there. Drinkwitz obviously has a good relationship with the Finley family and especially Ryan, being his position coach and all.And dmspack is right, good QBs won't get lost in the shuffle by NFL teams, especially when they are solid HS recruits. It's not like he's a complete unknown who walks on and surprises everyone.
12/13/2018 12:44:42 PM
Plus unlike NC State, App State has a really good track record of putting QBs into the NFL. It would make sense for him to head there instead of NC State to stick with his position coach.
12/13/2018 12:48:02 PM
I wasn't saying adding Rooks was only great because of his ability to recruit, but I think it's a huge bonus and the timing of it is an even bigger boost for us as he's going to have over a year to recruit guys to play with him. Well if all we lose out of Drink leaving is Ben Finley, I'll be fine with that. We still have time to find a 2020 QB and it sounds like the 2019 QB we just picked up(Evans) is locked in regardless of Drink, so we should be fine. I'd wait and see who we hire/promote to be OC before I worry about losing 2020 guys though. We're going to be hiring a QB coach regardless(whether it's QB coach + OC is debatable), so I'd wait and see who we pick up before I'd stress too much. If you go by their highest recruiting site rankings, our 2019 QB roster will include 3 4* and 1 3* who will be redshirting. Whoever we acquire is walking into a really good roster.

signing day, already have a few players in.
12/19/2018 8:18:57 AM
Think we have all players signed now except Griffin, who was never expected to sign today. No surprises today, so that's a good thing. Now to spend the next 2 months trying to keep Griffin in the fold(good luck with that) and land 2-3 more players and focus on 2020.
12/19/2018 9:41:50 AM
According to 24/7 (and also the football team social media accounts) there are still 2 others unsigned, a TE and a long snapper. TE is supposed to sign this afternoon, IDK about the other dude.

^^so that obviously doesn’t count griffin...because he wasn’t expected to sign? Or because he has decommitted?
12/19/2018 1:35:32 PM
Because he said he wasn't signing until February.
12/19/2018 1:46:56 PM
and supposedly Ga Tech is trying to him.?.
12/19/2018 1:48:14 PM
The TE and Long Snapper aren't signing today. Both will be blue shirts and will enroll and go on scholarship in the Fall. Walker is having a "mock" signing at his school to have fun and celebrate, but he'll be going on scholarship eventually, just can't sign a LOI. Griffin has always been a threat to flip and never seemed to have any intention of signing early. Now that he's garnered a 4th recruiting star and offers came in from Auburn and Miami, he's going to be taking multiple OVs. I'd expect OVs to Auburn, Miami, GT, and probably 1 more. Will be interesting to see if his offers explode even more after teams are missing on guys or losing guys today.
12/19/2018 2:15:34 PM
Ah ok. So they actually aren't allowed to sign. Also they will be on scholarship, but aren't allowed to play next year. Blueshirting is weird.
12/19/2018 2:28:03 PM
LB Levi Jones of USC was dismissed from the team and I think is now enrolled at nc state
1/7/2019 9:33:06 PM
Angeline came from USC too. Wonder if that’s pure coincidence or what? Seems weird we’d have many connections to the west coast. Any word on when he’s eligible? And if he’s good?
1/7/2019 9:55:23 PM
Hope so, with Pratt leaving we need a stud linebacker
1/7/2019 9:57:14 PM
Well, he wouldn't be eligible
1/7/2019 10:00:06 PM
^^ Payton Wilson
1/8/2019 8:50:08 AM
Payton Wilson is coming of a pretty major injury. I will be surprised if he makes much of an impact next year.
1/8/2019 10:17:56 AM
Brock Miller looked pretty good in the UNC game when Pratt was out
1/8/2019 10:34:37 AM
^Wilson also had his surgery before the season started to clean up some stuff from his initial surgery almost a year before that, so he should be back early enough to help. It will be all about him getting into playing shape over the Summer. Moore and Miller will start, but definitely think Wilson can be a contributor. Also Levi Jones was dismissed off the team after playing in 7 games for USC. So it's likely one of two options here. 1.) He's ineligible 1 year from that game(so we'd have him starting in November). 2.) His family moved from Texas to Cary last year so we use the same waiver the tOSU RB used to play at UNC last year and say he transferred because of his family. I #2 route seems to be working with the NCAA the last 2-3 years, so I bet that's the route we go. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out, he's been out of football for a few months and wasn't starting for USC, but I definitely think if he's playing on the team(not confirmed yet from school) and eligible that he can contribute and give us some good depth.
1/8/2019 10:35:41 AM
Brock Miller played the worst game at LB I've seen a State player have against aTm.
1/8/2019 2:35:44 PM
You mean the same Brock Miller who was coming off a season ending-injury and played as a back-up and was forced to start 2 games this year because Pratt was out? I think the entire team played like shit against A&M, but I also think that our guys on defense can improve. Moore started the whole year, then factor in Miller has experience, Acceus has experience, Wilson has a ton of upside, Jones has a ton of upside(if available), Hart coming off a RS year but getting good reviews from practice, and also add in we only play 2 LBs at a time, not sure we're going to be awful there. This is going to be a bit like last year, where we're losing 4 stars on D but the rest of the talent should be better. Well this year we should be losing 3 of our best defenders(Pratt, Roseboro, Bryant), but we should be getting better at other positions. Even if Wilson isn't 100% or takes a bit to adjust to college speed or if Jones isn't eligible, still think the general consensus is that we'll be improved on D, just by shear talent and athleticism. Griffin visited Auburn and is probably visiting both USCs. Most still think GT is the primary threat.
1/9/2019 1:38:05 PM
USC-West seems like a free trip to Cali. He was going to visit Miami but that's out and now he's replaced them. Seems like a dude just wanting to take 5 OVs. I could see Auburn blowing him away, and I don't see how people can eliminate Auburn because they have a RB signed in this class when NC State has a 3*/4* RB signed in this class as well and GT has 10+ RBs on roster. He could have picked GT or VT the first time if he wanted to play with one of his brothers.
1/10/2019 10:30:24 AM
GT had a different coach then so they weren't considered
1/10/2019 11:35:51 AM
Griffin trending in the wrong direction apparently. GT putting on the full court press and South Carolina hired a coach he liked from Miami.

Yea that was posted a week ago. Just official confirmation now. Discussed some in the 2019 thread.

Looks like Louisville has offered that blueshirt TE Kam Walker.Guess that's what happens when you try to game the system. Oh well.]
1/17/2019 9:34:20 PM
Game the system, what? You think louisville offered because we offered him a chance at a blueshirt? Lol...christ almighty
1/18/2019 12:20:58 AM
No, I think we tried to get him here without counting towards this year's scholarship limit. We were trying to game the system and it looks like it's not going to work.
1/18/2019 7:41:17 AM
Yeahhh but it’s not like we’re the only team doing the blue shirt and grey shirt thing.
1/18/2019 8:39:27 AM
Well no, this is just something that can happen when you try to do it. He could go to Louisville and have the opportunity to play right away, which he wouldn't be allowed to do here.]
1/18/2019 9:13:50 AM
Yup. That’s all part of recruiting.
