i didn't realize it covered movie theaters and sporting events too (as long as no signs are posted)awesome[Edited on July 23, 2013 at 9:20 PM. Reason : NC needs to standardize the signs on doors]
7/23/2013 9:16:48 PM
I'm excited by the bill, but now I need a new red book.
7/23/2013 10:35:20 PM
red book?
7/23/2013 10:40:46 PM
The book I got when I took my CC class that outlines all the applicable laws. handgunlaw.us does an excellent job, but you have to check the links to a lot of statutes to get the whole picture. I like the one stop reading better.
7/23/2013 10:52:36 PM
i don't recall receiving such a book[Edited on July 23, 2013 at 10:54 PM. Reason : ad][Edited on July 23, 2013 at 10:54 PM. Reason : isn't that difficult to remember, assuming you care at all ]

7/23/2013 10:55:28 PM
we need that bill that would prevent my employer from telling me that i can't have my firearms locked in my vehicle in the parking lot.

^ agree 100%
7/24/2013 8:53:45 AM
it's not locked when you get in and out of the vehicle.
7/24/2013 9:00:18 AM
getting in and out doesn't matter
7/24/2013 9:41:24 AM
the actual text of the law, not the summary at the beginning of the bill:
7/24/2013 9:42:17 AM
If anyone really wants a new red book, I'll get you one at cost once the new revision is out. As long as you read up on 937, you'll be up to date on the changes.I haven't read the final revision to the bill, did the conference committee strip out the part clarifying that greenways are not considered athletic facilities?
7/24/2013 11:19:27 AM
that part is still there. see page 6:http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/Sessions/2013/Bills/House/PDF/H937v4.pdfthat's the full text of the version of the bill that passed[Edited on July 24, 2013 at 11:35 AM. Reason : law on 10/1/13, assuming the gov signs]

7/27/2013 11:44:17 AM
Someone buy my LCR. I don't want to sell but the wife says its got to go since I bought a gun this morning.
7/27/2013 4:36:56 PM
Man, I never expected availability of 6.5 Creedmoor match ammo to be a problem. Looks like most places are sold out.
7/27/2013 5:54:42 PM
*cough* reload *cough* *cough*
7/27/2013 7:01:05 PM
seems silly to me to buy that rifle w/o plans to reload
7/27/2013 7:20:30 PM
Half of the appeal of the Creedmoor is that it kicks ass even on factory loads....and a friend who lives 5 minutes away (and just retired from the Navy, so he has some extra time on his hands) just got a press and is starting to reload. Once he gets a little more experience at it, I'll probably get him to load some for me.I frankly have way too many other hobbies to want to screw with reloading at the moment. I don't feel like making space for the equipment or especially teaching myself how to do it. If I learn hands-on from my friend, maybe I'll reconsider. ...but seriously, besides shooting, I'm into playing guitar/sax and recording, lots of lifting weights (and a decent bit of swimming), SCUBA, flying, roadracing and autocross, riding motorcycles, and in the winter, I try to ski some...on top of having a 6-year old and having to maintain a house and yard by myself. [Edited on July 27, 2013 at 8:40 PM. Reason : ]
7/27/2013 8:36:27 PM
sounds like you've got it figured out
7/27/2013 8:39:51 PM
eh, maybe halfway.
7/27/2013 8:41:46 PM
everything you need to reload for that rifle will fit in an average plastic tote with room to spare. all you need is a kitchen table.but i can't argue with the time issue. it's up to each shooter to decide if it's worth it to devote some of his spare time to reloading. casual shooters don't get all excited about spending a couple hours at the reloading bench as they do over a couple hours at the range. they don't rush home with a new press or set of dies and start posting about their new toy. it's not for the faint of heart.

I picked up a SIG P938 Extreme w/ two (2) mags this morning off gun broker. I got the auction disabled but oh well, my gain.[Edited on July 27, 2013 at 9:13 PM. Reason : ...made up a Sig Product]
7/27/2013 9:08:32 PM
auction disabled?
7/27/2013 9:09:32 PM
It was a reserve auction so I just emailed the guy and asked what his reserve was...he wavered for a bit and then gave up his number. Told him it was too high for my budget and that I will wait for Sig LE to send me one. He got back to me for a few buck more then the Sig LE price and took down the auction.
7/27/2013 9:16:50 PM
cool
7/27/2013 9:20:09 PM
I put a lot of things on gunbroker for way more than theyre worth, usually because I have some sentimental attachment to them, and they usually never sell. But when they do, oh boy am I excited. Just goes to fund more potential investments Fun hobby. Most of them I never even shoot. One of my local shops has a real nice flat rate where they wrap/protect/ship/insure things for me. Less than 50 bucks anywhere.
7/28/2013 2:14:22 PM
What is the Sig LE price on the 938?
7/28/2013 7:26:10 PM
$609 for the Extreme$611 for BRG$588 for RosewoodWait time for Eternity
7/28/2013 9:26:18 PM
^nice. I got my extreme for around 650 after randomly finding it at a gun shop. No discounts before anyone got crazy. Now I only see them for around 700+ for us non LE folk.
7/29/2013 9:29:20 AM
Anyone have experience with short barrel 1911s?Commander style, or whatever.
7/30/2013 2:54:23 PM
^Yes. What do you want to know?
7/30/2013 11:44:24 PM
pros, cons, best buys, things to look for, compare shooting it to a full size, things like that

My father-in law works for U.S. Case in Raleigh. They sell Pelican and SKB cases of all types (gun, laptop, bags, coolers, misc), as well as their custom U.S. Case cases for sound equipment and other things. They sell lights of all types (tactical Pelican lights, commercial lights and safety lights). Finally they do custom CNC cutouts for guns and equipment out of various types of foam inside whatever case you'd like.Long story short, they are going to have 4 tables at the upcoming Dixie show this weekend and I'm going to be working the show with them. They will be selling all types of Pelican and SKB cases including the 1700 series for rifles and shotguns, smaller cases such as the 1400 for handguns, small cases such as the 1000 series for ammo and smalls. They will also have iPad cases, iPhone cases, and Pelican backpacks. Also there will be 35 and 45qt Pelican Coolers as well as Pelican flashlights and area lights. They will have all kinds of stuff for sale and will be showing off some custom inserts you can have made. If you are at the show, please stop by and check out our cases and other stuff. The Pelican flashlights are amazing!Look for the HUGE Pelican case and coolers banner at the show. I'll be there probably Saturday most of the day and then some of Sunday.
7/31/2013 9:01:15 PM
how do the pelican coolers compare to yetis? mainly concerned with ice life.we've used those intrinsically safe pelican flashlights at work and they're pretty damn impressive.
7/31/2013 9:05:53 PM
I love 1911s, but I wouldn't want anything but a full-size.First of all, my one experience with firing a small 1911 (Para Ordnance) is that I couldn't hit shit with it, while I can just drill targets like you read about with my full-sized Springfield.Second, the only use for a little pistol is concealed carry, and for self-defense, I'd rather have something else than a 1911, personally. I like my 1911 as a range toy, but I like my compact Xdm much more for a defensive weapon (or a TCP/LCP/P3AT if you need something really small).
7/31/2013 9:07:10 PM
^^Honestly, the Pelicans are designed the same as the Yeti. 2" thick insulation, commercial grade gasket, etc etc. So its performance is the same as a Yeti. I have a Yeti and it is simply amazing how long that thing can hold ice. I've had it close to a week with ice (more water than ice, but it was cold water). That being said, the Pelicans I think are built heavier and better. The latches are better, the handles are better, there are fish measure strips on the top, it just seems to be built heavier.Plus, they are a hair cheaper than the Yeti's.
7/31/2013 9:19:34 PM
what kind of warranty do they have?
