So I bought 2 dresses off ebay from the same seller. AWESOME!!! Super fast, good shipping prices, and I just felt the need to share. She sells mostly Anthropolgy, Desigual, and Free People. Seller name "White Chocolate Couture." will post pics later

i got 2 new dresses from goodwill this past weekend...i love them both...i will post pictures when i'm not having such a nasty, fatty day

i just rememberedi bought a SPARKLE SKIRT at old navy tonighti don't know why. i saw it and was like, THAT IS MINEEEE.wanted this top to go with, but then i was like maaaaybe its a little much. but now i'm sad i didn't get it. so i might go back. whoops. i mean if you're gonna sparkle, sparkle. amirite?(you can't tell, but this shirt has like those sheer/shimmery sequins all over it. which is why it looks weird in the picture. it looks way more awesome in person).i also saw these super acid wash jeans that i wanted. what is wrong with me?TOTES tried on like 4 dresses though that were NOT flattering. like i don't get how they could be flattering on anyone. that is the thing about old navy. i take like 50 things to try on (always gotta try on there, shit is whack) and like 2 fit. and it isn't the sizing, its just the way they are cut. i could put on a 0 or a 24 and it still wouldn't look good. but they look so darn cute on the hanger. *SIGH*[Edited on April 11, 2011 at 8:28 PM. the same things seems to always happen to me there. a lot of things look cute on the shelf and fit completely wrong or weirdly in the dressing room
4/11/2011 8:31:16 PM
i have that problem in pretty much every store
4/11/2011 8:34:47 PM
^^ YES exactly. it is so frustrating. but after years of frustration i realized it was a common problem. so it ISN'T US. it is them. i try to use that rationale for a LOT of dressing room mishaps....normally it really is me and fat thighs or short legs or no boobs...but this time it really is them and not us ^ well me too. BUT THIS TIME IT IS THEIR FAULT! lol[Edited on April 11, 2011 at 8:35 PM. Reason : .]

Old Navy's shirts run really fucking large. It annoys me because I will see something I like and I try on the XS and it's still way too big. Their tank tops are fine but for some reason their other shirts can be way way huge.
4/11/2011 8:40:59 PM
that is one reason i like old navy. i wear a smaller size in their tops hahasome of the sundresses look pretty cute. which brings me to my next topic that i'm sure has been discussed in here before. are sundresses appropriate for outdoor weddings? i think they would be, but i've not been to many outdoor weddings. i wish i had worn a sundress to the one i did go to though because it was hot as ballsss. opinions?[Edited on April 11, 2011 at 8:48 PM. wrap dresses usually look good on everyone. especially one with a cap sleeve to make your shoulders look broader and balance out your hips. Or anything with an eye-catching color/detail/ruffle/etc on top, to draw the eye upwards ]

do you guys ever feel like you go through stageslike right now i feel like i'm in an ugly stagebut sometimes i go through weeks/months where i'm like "wow i look kinda pretty"but i'm definitely in the stage right now where i'm like "wow no matter what i wear or how i do my hair i look disgusting"maybe it has to do with the change of the seasons. like i'm so used to wearing long pants and long jackets/sleeves/sweaters that it wears on my confidence a tiny bit to show my pale ass legs off for the first time in like 5 months. or whatever.

got a massive tax return so I had a little shopping spree... This one is classified as loungewear. what do you think, can I wear it out of the house? I'm also a little afraid it's going to be that awkward "Fat calf" length and it looks impossible to shorten. somebody just posted a poopy review for that skirt, which should already be at my mom's house now I also got a Tshirt and some capris that supposedly match the lighter blue color in it. too matchy-matchy? Mom still hasn't sent the dresses I posted a month ago, so it's gonna be a pretty sweet parcel... I was tempted to order more eshakti dresses but without knowing how they fit yet, might be a waste

I'm a big fan of the motorcycle jacket. I have a tweed one that I'm in love with and I'm sad it's time to retire it.I want one made out of the sweatshirt kind of material so I can wear it year round and not feel bad. Though I'd buy that jacket and keep it for fall.Packprincess....sorry I didn't fully answer your question. Here's some more tips! Detail on the top, simple on the bottom will help disguise the hips and draw the eye up. Try dresses that have some kind of embellishment up top whether it be ruffles, pattern or luxurious texture, it will all help to add a little more volume to your bust.Nipped in at the waist & flares at hip and thighsEmpire WaistWatch your hemline! Make sure it's not too short that it stops at the widest part of your legs. This is a good cut.[Edited on April 12, 2011 at 11:59 AM. Reason : there ya go]

DivaBaby19 is the local Stacy London. And i agree with everything Erica said that would work. i'm pretty proportional - i have a large bust, small waist and then wide hips but am average through the thighs/butt. i find that looking for items that are more fitted or have built in "structure" (like what Erica posted - think fitted around the waist and not boxy) work the best with me and generally do with most people. i have to be careful of too much "poufy-ness" on the top or it ends up making my chest look even bigger or sometimes even makes my boobs look like they go down to my waist.
4/12/2011 12:08:16 PM
Sadly I can do this for everyone but myself
4/12/2011 12:09:36 PM

Oh well thanks!I'm always having an inner battle when picking out clothing. I love the classic, but I also enjoy to be a lil flashy. I have to remind myself to work a little of the trend into the usual staple pieces, and not go overboard.
4/12/2011 12:14:00 PM
thanks!
4/12/2011 12:17:18 PM
i have the opposite effect. working in an environment as causal as it is here (jeans everyday) has made me feel sloppy lately. not that i dress sloppy but since we wear jeans everyday it's kind of like, ok what tank/cardigan are we wearing today? also i need more dresses - why are all my dresses black? i try to find more colorful or fun ones and i only find ones that i really like or fit me right in black.
4/12/2011 12:17:52 PM
Working at Saks I got into the rut of wearing all black and just distinguishing things with texture and whatnot. The cosmetics team had to wear all black, but I just found it easier to do so I did.It was easy to pull off going out because it was winter, and man all black looks killer (and slimming). Now my goal is to buy some fun bright tops to wear with my pants and skirts here at work.I also need more dresses...I have no clue what happened to half my shit when I moved in October. I think my mom was like "ew this can't look good on...throwing it away"[Edited on April 12, 2011 at 12:21 PM. Reason : e]

I babysit and work at a preschool. I dress very casual, and dressing up is pretty foreign to me. I want to try to get some spanx skinny britches and rock some dresses a decent bit of the time this summer. And i'd like to dress up a bit more next school year because I get to teach my own class!
4/12/2011 12:23:08 PM
i just ordered these 2 dresses from Old Navy. this one i'm going to pair with a belt - the reviews on it are really good but everyone recommends a belt.
4/12/2011 12:25:31 PM
You can still look cute babysitting...the key is making sure the pieces are comfy and easy to take care of. I'm ALL ABOUT comfort, but it has to look good on. I won't go as far as pajama jeans tho Most of my wardrobe is washable because at the time I couldn't afford to go to the dry cleaner once a week. I just didn't make enough monies.Cassie....ahhhhhh I almost bought that blue dress last week! I really want it in white because I have a sick fetish for eyelet lace. It's very pretty and yes belted would look cute! Old Navy actually did a great job this year with their spring/summer dresses. They're hit or miss so I'm happy it's good.Man we may all need to coordinate when we're gonna wear our ON dresses [Edited on April 12, 2011 at 12:27 PM. Reason : e]
4/12/2011 12:25:50 PM
i'm excited - i just hope the sleeves aren't too "pointy" on the arm and flow down on the blue eyelet dress. only one review mentioned they didn't like the sleeve on the arm out like 50 reviews so i think i'm okay. i really wanted the wrap dress in the raspberry or peacock color but they were out in my size
4/12/2011 12:28:56 PM
i'm going old navy shopping today!not getting my hopes up though....anything i try on will probably look stupid on me [Edited on April 12, 2011 at 12:32 PM. Reason : sadf]
4/12/2011 12:31:23 PM
oh shut upyou need new clothes Also I'm super excited about all their maxi dresses! I love them because they make me look taller
4/12/2011 12:33:05 PM
I may end up at old navy this afternoon as well.
4/12/2011 12:34:25 PM
I'm sorry but I am NOT a fan of Old Navy...I feel like their stuff falls apart and is poor quality. I have on an occasion or two found something decent.
4/12/2011 12:39:02 PM
^ i normally don't care for Old Navy either mostly because the stuff never fits me right. but occasionally i find stuff there that is cute and works. dresses are pretty safe bets. pants and shirts - not so much. which is weird because The Gap and Banana fit me perfectly and they're all part of the same family.
4/12/2011 12:40:15 PM
Of course the quality is lower than their other stores. I think everyone knows that going in.Clearly these aren't investment pieces in a wardrobe. They fun skirtin around town type things.I have no problem throwing on a $5 top with some $200 jeans once or twice a season, and buying another top next year. That's just me.
4/12/2011 12:42:51 PM
it's funny - when i was younger i was such a label whore. now i don't really care where i get stuff as long as it fits well and looks good. lower price clothing has come a LONG way.
4/12/2011 12:44:28 PM
^Hell I've even gotten compliments on shirts I bought at Wal-Mart of all places....I don't throw that info out after the compliment of course [Edited on April 12, 2011 at 12:54 PM. Reason : can't spell]
4/12/2011 12:45:34 PM
some of my best fitting jeans i have bought have been from Target.
4/12/2011 12:49:44 PM
^^lol, I always brag about how cheap I bought something for when I get a compliment on it and usually wear I got it from.
4/12/2011 12:54:04 PM
No i know i mean you pay what you get for but i feel like i am better off at target or marshalls.
4/12/2011 12:55:09 PM
I just say thank you...or I KNOW I LOVE IT TOO...and keep on moving. If they ask I'll tell them where I got it.
4/12/2011 12:55:46 PM
haha I buy about 85% of my clothing from Target. The rest is a mixture of places like Ebay, NY&CO, Express, and few departmet stores. I heart Target
4/12/2011 12:56:04 PM
when i have money, please to DivaBaby19 to go shopping with me. I need a wardrobe upgrade. I am still wearing band shirts from high school.and I am fashion illiterate
4/12/2011 12:56:16 PM
well and i shop at places like target/marshalls WAY more than Old Navy. i maybe buy 1 Old Navy piece every 1-2 years. i'm picky. i study the outfit/article of clothing and think about if i think it would really fit right on me. most of the time i go, "nah" and keep going. but i like to keep my options open. i have though developed a small obsession with Marshalls lately.
4/12/2011 12:56:29 PM
So I hate shopping. Found Wallflower jeans that fit at TJMaxx, and I want to know where else I can buy them locally. I have tried on hundreds of pairs, do not want to order them online in case the pair I got wasn't like their normal ones.
4/12/2011 12:58:04 PM
tjmaxx is the bomb
4/12/2011 12:58:19 PM
I like Marshalls b/c more variety all in one place. but i love forever 21 for good cheap stuff and accessories. and about 80% of their things last for a few years. never had an issue. Also here we have many awesome boutiques that I shop at with reasonable priced stuff. Think Francesca's but 1/2 the price.
4/12/2011 1:00:35 PM
I just got two cute empire-waist dresses from target and they are so adorable! I wish I could find pics online.Does anyone here use self-tanners/moisturizers? All last summer I was told I looked sick because I was so pale (nevermind the fact that I spent the whole summer in a hospital visiting someone and never saw the sun except for when I was driving to and from the hospital) and anyways I thought maybe this summer I'd try out Jergens tanning moisturizer for some color. After a couple of uses it's noticeable and it's not orange but it is streaky. Do you guys have any suggestions, am I doing it wrong or are there better products?
4/12/2011 1:01:31 PM
Oh I love Target too...but it's on the ON level for me. It's a little harder being a larger girl too. I really have to examine my clothes for quality and shape and cut because a lot of the things offered in larger sizes looks like a tent (MY BIGGEST FRUSTRATION but I won't go there because I could talk for days).I'm big on fashion though, as in I read/watch and study what's being designed and whats coming out each year. I then go on hunts to find those pieces in cuts that look good on my body type. That's the hardest part. I like having friends that let me dress them, and that's what I liked about working in retail because I could put together those looks on the skinny chicks with the snap of a finger.Ok I'm rambling, but I think what I was trying to say is I will search any and everywhere to find something to put into my wardrobe. I have a mental catalog of what I own, so its fun trying to find different style shirts, etc to wear with whats in my closet. And I don't really care where I find these pieces (and at times how much they cost) as long as I like them.
