uh, no. no. but no use in speculating.plus, i wouldn't mind horner coming off the bench. unfortunately, we had to start him.[Edited on May 18, 2010 at 7:43 PM. Reason : ]

Well that sucks. Not a huge loss talent wise, but he was a very solid player who did what was asked of him. Hustled, rebounded and defended very well. Hate to see him go.
5/18/2010 7:51:52 PM
I don't like losing athleticism. You can never go wrong with a good rebounder, hustler, defensive guy. Davis got off the floor quicker than anyone on our team last year.I understand PT may be limited next year, but he could have stayed with the program for 4 years and gotten good minutes.

5/18/2010 8:06:18 PM
So this frees up two schollies now, right? All expectations are for Mabry to use Mays and then save this one for next year? or is there a secret signing in the works?
5/18/2010 8:13:34 PM
I thought last I heard the staff had decided to pass on Mabry, but that may have been before the news on Davis
5/18/2010 8:15:37 PM
mabry won't be coming here (our decision)
5/18/2010 8:16:41 PM
so we are going to have an extra open scholly going into next year? wow, never saw that one coming. this may be good if we can lock down another 4*+ talent early on going into next year with it. we are likely to lose alot of talent after this year anyways
5/18/2010 9:38:22 PM
that leaves 2 right?1. Smith2. Javi3. CJW4. Thomas5. Howell6. V7. Wood8. Painter9. CJL10. Harrow11. Brown12. ??13. ??
5/18/2010 9:53:21 PM
nice. didnt Hodge say he was lookin for that 5th year of eligibility?
5/18/2010 10:06:29 PM
correct me if i'm wrong: if we're done recruiting for the year, we'll def have 4 schollies for '11 (smith, javi, mays & davis).if leslie leaves, and/or any other early departures, we'll have 5+.and of course, there's the thomas wild card.sid best get to recruiting for '11!
5/18/2010 10:06:49 PM
5/19/2010 2:23:26 AM
I'd love for Lowe to be able to sell playing time to some solid 4* and high 3* players in the 2011 class and be able to boast another Top 25 recruiting class. We could potentially have 6 open scholarships next season if CJL and JT don't return.
5/19/2010 2:31:35 AM
well FWIW gravis at PP thinks Leslie will be here for two.If so, two years from now the rotation will look something like:HarrowBrownLeslie/WoodHowell/LesliePainter/VandenbergWith CJW and maybe Thomas also seeing some minutes. We can sell PT to a second tier combo guard (someone like Seagears) and a big (to a slightly lesser extent)
5/19/2010 3:11:58 AM
leslie thinks he'll be here for one year, so right now all gravis is doing is speculating on how he'll perform.
5/19/2010 7:51:25 AM
The best recuiting Sid can do this year is on the court. The recruits will come if he can get the Pack into the National Spotlight this year
5/19/2010 8:11:31 AM
I agree with DalCowboys. If Sid doesn't at least make it to the tourney, what recruits are gonna want to come play here?
5/19/2010 8:46:38 AM
^too easy, but what about harrow, brown, and leslie?but i kid, and i agree, we need to make it to the tourney.
5/19/2010 9:06:15 AM
that's too bad about Mabry. Best wishes to Davis - you'll be missed!I don't foresee Leslie staying more than 1 year.Hopefully the coaching staff can lock up one solid 2011 commit this summer and get the ball rolling on recruiting some good talent.

5/19/2010 9:34:48 AM
Josh Davis played his ass off 100% of the timesad to see him go, he was awesome to watch (except, sadly, when shooting free throws :beatup
5/19/2010 9:46:42 AM
Good luck to Josh Davis - hope he can land at a decent school, play well for them, and get his degree. Would have liked to have had him stay on the team, but can't fault him for leaving.

what we need to do is come together and make some ridiculous parties so cjl will pull a wall and want to stick around and enjoy his college yearS
5/19/2010 12:02:36 PM
will pull a what?
5/19/2010 12:26:24 PM
Pull a "Wall", as in Ryan Wall, four-year reserve player at TCU from 2004-2008.
5/19/2010 12:52:27 PM
I'm sure the parties that NBA players go to pale in comparison to a well thrown NC State party
5/19/2010 12:55:34 PM
^^ although i did laugh at that quite a bit, ryan wall transferred from new mexico after two years, so let's hope he doesn't pull a ryan wall.
5/19/2010 1:30:41 PM
wow, quincy miller is #2 overall in the new scout 100. it'll be sick if Duke winds up with him and austin rivers. talk about a nightmare situation.
5/19/2010 1:40:49 PM
pull a Ryan Wall
5/19/2010 1:43:44 PM
I just don't want Sid to try and reach on a late pick up or a transfer and end up with another Mays or Marques Johnson.
5/19/2010 2:47:59 PM
considering how many scholarships we have and how little players we have in next year's class, i don't think it'd be a real problem.
5/19/2010 3:34:47 PM
^that's what I'm thinking. I'm kinda wishing we still had Mays as a third-string veteran combo guard.V edit: Javi averaged 3.1 TOs a game, playing 25.5 mpg. Mays averaged 1.1 in in 18.5 mpg. Javi had a 1.18 A/T ratio. Mays had a 1.43. Mays was slow and couldn't create. But he held on to the ball pretty well. Very well for a 3rd string back-up.[Edited on May 19, 2010 at 4:07 PM. Reason : ]
5/19/2010 3:43:19 PM
^It would be nice to have a veteran combo guard, but not when it's a combination of being slow and turning it over multiple times.
5/19/2010 3:52:28 PM
agreed. I wouldn't be heartbroken to see Javi leave, too. Hell, let's give Lowe all the scholarships he needs for the next few years
5/19/2010 4:28:44 PM
^Lets not get carried away now.
5/19/2010 4:32:03 PM
lololol I haven't heard the name John Cannon in a long time. This was a guy we were rumored to be watching a couple years ago, but the guy turned out to not be ACC material.]

im sorry, i just dont see how anybody can think that julius mays was anything but terrible for this team. when you just pick up ur dribble and call a time out almost every trip down the floor... ur t.o./assist ratio will look alright. but if you look at the.... on the floor point differential. (whatever that is called) im betting that javi's is wayyyy better than "the human emergency break"s.
5/19/2010 11:42:08 PM
^
5/19/2010 11:45:14 PM
You must be one of the delusional few who think that Mays is better than Javi.

Not State basketball related, but Terrence Jones committed to UK today and signed his LOI.
5/20/2010 1:00:34 AM
^ supposedly he didnt sign a LOI, just a "financial aid offer." I guess that gives him a way out if he changes his mind again[Edited on May 20, 2010 at 1:06 AM. Reason : a]
