^ http://slickdeals.net/f/6964624-upgrade-and-keep-your-unlimited-data-with-verizon?I checked out the 2nd post here which is a wiki that is supposedly updated. I appears like the Best Buy loophole is still in place. I just want some sort of confirmation from someone that has done it in the past few weeks.
10/8/2014 2:34:55 PM
Knock-on is great.
10/8/2014 3:44:25 PM
BB used to have a similar loophole in place with sprint. The two companies never shared data back and forth so you could hypothetically get an upgrade with BB, never activate it and then cancel the line with sprint 30 days later and the phone wouldn't be blacklisted. I've been informed that particular loophole is now closed and there's a team that audits now.I cannot confirm/deny with VZW however.

droid turbo doesn't use soft buttons. and just like that it's out of the running
10/9/2014 11:33:54 AM
I actually prefer the hard (well they're still kind of soft because they're not actual buttons) buttons on the Galaxy series. The soft buttons on the actual screen of the LG G3 are kind of annoying. They make the effective screen size smaller and I accidentally hit them sometimes when using the onscreen keyboard. [Edited on October 9, 2014 at 4:19 PM. Reason : s]
10/9/2014 4:18:27 PM
that's all well and good until those standard buttons change as android progresses
10/9/2014 6:22:14 PM
They're all programmable. There's usually the left, home, and right button. You can change them to whatever you want. Sure if Android moves to two buttons or four buttons then sure but I highly doubt that's going to happen in the lifespan someone would keep a phone.
10/9/2014 6:30:56 PM
I hate Samsung's buttons. The back button on the right seems completely counter intuitive to the Android OS. My MAXX and my tablet with CM both have the 'correct' placement. Back on left, home in middle, recent programs on right.
10/9/2014 7:28:20 PM
Back on right makes much more sense because most people hold their phone with their right hand and it's much easier to hit the back button with your thumb when it's on the right. Also I'm pretty sure people use the back button more often than the recent programs button.
10/9/2014 7:52:49 PM
I have no problem at all using my right thumb to hit the back button on the left while holding the phone in my right hand. Back on the left makes much more sense. Do you think a web brower's back button should be to the right of the forward button?
10/9/2014 8:10:05 PM
I think this is a silly argument. Every phone and tablet I've had it's been on the right. Sounds like you've always had it on the left. I think it's more user preference based upon what they're used to.

10/10/2014 9:37:59 AM
My back buttons have always been on the left too.
10/10/2014 9:49:12 AM
I'm not saying one is better than the other I'm simply saying that's what I'm used to. Considering all Samsung devices have it on the right I'm betting that makes up a rather large portion of Android phones out there. My LG G3 has the back button on the right as well. That's a large portion of the flagship phones out there now...G3, Galaxy Note 3/4, S5.

Got my Moto X, very impressed.
10/10/2014 12:44:50 PM
^^Yeah sorry I meant non Vanilla. Again not saying it's better. My only point was it seems easier to reach the back button if it's closer to your thumb than further away especially so on larger phones. You certainly have to reach more with your right thumb to hit the back button if it's on the left side.
10/10/2014 12:54:58 PM
Um, my LG G3 has the back button on the left.[Edited on October 10, 2014 at 5:06 PM. Reason : Although maybe I did that on setup.]
10/10/2014 5:06:16 PM
10/10/2014 6:15:16 PM
When I'm holding my phone my thumb is usually "hovering" about an inch above the center of the screen. So basically everything is equidistant to tap.

Anyone using Easytether? I have a GS4 and it was working fine yesterday. Today, it works for a few minutes, then the speed starts to degrade, then everything times out... data on my device works fine.
10/14/2014 11:08:34 AM
Doing the same thing using BT tethering...
10/14/2014 11:53:25 AM
so rumor is that 5.0 (L) will be released today. i will be checking my n5 all day.

10/15/2014 2:03:25 PM
Are they not going to make a normal sized Nexus 6?
10/15/2014 2:07:35 PM
Doesn't look that way
10/15/2014 2:10:50 PM
Assholes.Where will I go for my vanilla android fix now?
10/15/2014 2:12:40 PM
damn...and it's expensiveah well, so long nexus phones...looks like the developer edition of something else is in my future
10/15/2014 2:36:01 PM
:/ big and expensive. Luckily I'm still very happy with my N5 so I have time to wait around and see what else might pop up over the next year or so.
10/15/2014 3:45:23 PM
hmm. I might get the n6
10/15/2014 3:52:19 PM
i am probably going to get the n9. i also think that the n5 is still going to prominately promoted within google play at least - for all the people worried about the size of the n6. lollipop will make it feel like a totally new device. just go here http://www.google.com/nexus/ and you can see that the n5 is just as front and center as the 6, 9, and player. while the 7 is no where to be found.[Edited on October 15, 2014 at 8:53 PM. 10/15/2014 8:50:11 PM
get a Moto X if you want a small Nexus 6. problem solved
10/16/2014 7:40:13 AM
if they were going to almost double the cost of their flagship phone, i don't understand why they didn't at least use a 64-bit proc to take advantage of lollipopobviously cost is a factor, but if you're going to go up by $300, what's another $50? i don't suppose the 810 is out, yet, but doesn't the 9 have the nvidia tegra k1?[Edited on October 16, 2014 at 10:12 AM. Reason : ah, never mind...i think the tegra is ~30% bigger than the 800-series snapdragons]

N6 is kind of disappointing to me. Not just the size (I LOVE my LG G3 and it's a 5.5inch screen), the price is a little sad to me. I liked the budget warrior approach. The N9 looks fucking fantastic. I will probably dump my N7v1 and iPad Retina for one.
10/17/2014 10:23:49 AM
Also I really hope Verizon is pushing 5.0.
10/17/2014 10:24:12 AM
9 inches is a little large for me.
10/17/2014 10:27:35 AM
^^ Good luck. I had pretty bad experiences there with my vanilla Android GNex[Edited on October 17, 2014 at 10:28 AM. Reason : ^ I imagine it would be for most ]
10/17/2014 10:28:06 AM
the 9 is smaller than an ipad, right?
10/17/2014 10:48:25 AM
Little bit.
10/17/2014 10:54:01 AM
^^^^
10/17/2014 10:54:50 AM
It sounds like some of you people want a 6 inch phone and a 7 inch tablet for some reason. Like 2 separate devices, that are nearly the same size. I prefer my tablets to be large.
10/17/2014 11:40:00 AM
I really like my 5.5" phone and my 8.4" tablet. I had an iPad and 10" was just too large.
10/17/2014 11:53:51 AM
^^ my N4 is a perfect size (4.7" screen, case size of 5.27"...which would be fine if the screen were that big and went edge-to-edge)i've tried several 7-8" tablets and i didn't like them...it felt like using a more unweildy, less functional phone10" is where i imagine i'd find a tablet to be useful, though i'd gladly play around the N9 for a couple of days to see if it's big enough
10/17/2014 1:12:46 PM
My family still gets wonderful use out of the 9.7" 32gb HP Touchpad loaded with Cyanogenmod 10-something ... it works so well I can't remember any more.Basically used for quick web browsing, kid games, Netflix, and Plex (kiddo uses streaming instead of TV).I really like the 4:3 ratio for a tablet, and I like the 9.7" size of the Touchpad. Despite losing 0.7", I'll be all over the new Nexus 9 if this Touchpad ever dies.[Edited on October 17, 2014 at 2:54 PM. Reason : .]
10/17/2014 2:52:21 PM
Yeah, the Touchpad is a good size. It might not be ultra high def 1080p but it works just fine for watching Netflix, Youtube, etc
10/17/2014 3:18:57 PM
my galaxy s3 is being a major pain in my ass. would love to upgrade relatively soon (ideally something with a good camera as well) and will be attempting that bestbuy method once something comes out that interests me.
10/20/2014 2:12:17 PM
I upgraded to the Note 4 from the Note 2 this morning. The 4k display really pops on this thing.
10/23/2014 11:50:45 AM
so I've finally joined the world... I have a tablet (tab 3).any recommendations for an app to allow BT tethering from my phone (GS4) to my GT3? I really don't care to get into rooting. Oh yeh, and not a VPN solution, since those work for browsing only (tried easytether, which I use for PC to phone and love, but the tablet version is VPN only).[Edited on October 24, 2014 at 9:42 AM. Reason : haha, have a table.]
