I need to order a tactical solutions barrel for my Mark III. I have one for my 10/22 that I've been very pleased with, and I cant think of a better gun to run a supressor on.

I believe it's worthwhile to denote +P when discussing the caliber of a firearm so you dont blow yourself up, obviously.and yes I have see the caliber denoted with +P on the frame of a revolver before, Im sure it was a Taurus actually.

What are you guys using for ear protection. I lost me trusty ear muffs and need to replace them with something comfortable.
5/13/2013 11:06:30 PM
^When I shoot .22 I use a Sparrow, Osprey 45 for my handguns and a 762SDN6 for bigger stuff It was easier to eliminate the need for my Walker Pro Ears.
5/13/2013 11:28:41 PM
^ quit bragging How is the Sparrow holding up? Pretty easy to clean?
5/13/2013 11:50:19 PM
^^^ cheap-ass winchester ear plugs from Walmart. I find them comfortable and to be good noise reducers. I also wear them when mowing my lawn.
5/13/2013 11:59:34 PM
Quiet time

i wear Howard Leight Impact Sports. i love them.

5/14/2013 7:31:50 AM
i thought that indoor ranges generally didn't allow ear plugs, but i've never really paid attention because i always had my own.
5/14/2013 10:06:41 AM
^ Why would an indoor range not allow ear plugs? I have ear plugs that work a lot better than most muffs. For indoor ranges that seem particularly loud, I like to wear plugs under muffs.[Edited on May 14, 2013 at 11:15 AM. Reason : ]
5/14/2013 11:12:53 AM
because they are easy to insert incorrectly? i don't know, it was the rule at the range back home, thought i saw something at the place of Tryon too.Eagle 1 was robbed the other day, I don't understand how they've stayed in business this long. Their safety policies and range layout are sketchy.
5/14/2013 1:23:16 PM
Well, they are the only range in North Raleigh. I much prefer it to the place off Tryon. Also what about the range layout is sketchy?
5/14/2013 1:38:00 PM
^ didn't they just renovate their range? Didn't seem sketchy to me the one time I've been...
5/14/2013 1:55:17 PM
Because .45 is naturally subsonic it's not a problem. When it comes to the larger calibers, a 300 blackout and some .223 can be found subsonic. If you have a bolt action 300blkout with my 762sdn6, it's quieter than a surpressed hk mp5. I have not put it on a 308 yet, but I will in the next few weeks. Let me know if you want to head out shooting and hear for yourself.
5/14/2013 7:20:39 PM
Is there a point in going up to .308 from 300blk? If staying sub sonic I think blk handles 200grain bullets better and they are limited to the same velocity so the smaller round is atleast as powerful as the .308 in this case.
5/15/2013 6:12:55 AM
The effective range for 300blk is. Pretty short, especially when you load them subsonic
5/15/2013 8:16:29 AM
as far as ballistics is concerned, if you're throwing the same bullet at the same speed, then there's no difference. i think that's what sumfoo1 was getting at.
5/15/2013 8:39:19 AM
5/15/2013 8:45:56 AM
i've never heard of anyone shooting subsonic .308, don't think it is very common. i wouldn't really compare .308 to .300blk, even though the same caliber they don't really have the same usages at all (eg rare to find a .308 SBR, extremely common to find a 300blk SBR / pistol)
5/15/2013 9:18:48 AM
it's not like a can is totally useless unless you're staying subsonic. there's a reason all the long range practical shooting sniper wannabe types use cans now.
5/15/2013 9:41:47 AM
I've shot 45ACP suppressed, and it's not what I would describe as quiet.I'm building a SBR 300 blackout, but my SDN762 is in can jail right now waiting on the stamps to come back.
5/15/2013 10:24:34 AM
^^ so you're saying i need use a can i'm kinda one of those guys...can't wait till ccgci's 1000 yrd range opens, i'll probably join there too when it does. and keep the goldsboro range membership until they get some pistol steel out a ccgci
5/15/2013 11:08:50 AM
Glock 26. May be a little wide though. Are you against revolvers? I personally carry an Ultra Lite IWB at ~1:00. I prefer revolvers in general though.

.308 subsonic exists, and is awesome, but hard to find for some folks. No reason to choose that over .300blk, if you're purpose building a suppressed gun. Cans for long range...shoot slow. That suppressor wash can through off your mirage reading.
5/15/2013 6:20:56 PM
Ohh so I'm a wannabe wannabe lol.

First time reloading military brass and fuck that mess.NRR, what do you do about primer pockets? By hand took me far too long.
5/19/2013 6:26:49 PM
dillon super swagechamfer tool in a drill will work, but i prefer to swage the metal back where it came from instead of just cutting it away
5/19/2013 6:57:38 PM
Darn, don't feel like dropping $100 on something that simple
5/19/2013 7:47:02 PM
find a screwdriver blade that fits it perfectly.twist.
5/19/2013 8:20:50 PM
i didn't either, but it'll last forever and if it doesn't they'll fix it for free, no questions asked. i fucked mine up because i was a retard and didn't know how to take it apart and they fixed it for free.RCBS has copied it and it's $80, but i prefer the dillon version: http://www.brownells.com/reloading/case-preparation/primer-pocket-tools/reamers-swagers/rcbs-primer-pocket-swager-bench-tool-prod54151.aspxCH4D makes this, which is reasonably priced and most users like it: http://www.ch4d.com/catalog/priming/pskRCBS used to make something similar to that called the "primer pocket swager combo". i used a buddy's once and it was ok, but kinda cheesy imo.or you can just buy a primer pocket crimp reamer and stick it in a drill. i prefer a small bench-top drill press so i don't have to hold a trigger down on a hand drill.
5/19/2013 8:24:10 PM
Good deal, thanks. Not sure what I will go with, I need something though since my dad bought a ton of military 5.56 I will have plenty of that brass.

What's a good actual gun smith in raleigh ?I'm not talking about someone who can just assemble and ar or something i'm talking about someone who knows how to mount a scope on a gun without provisions for one, or someone who's actually talented at bedding a stock.Thanks. -Foo1I'd really like to get an optic properly mounted on my mosin along with getting it properly glass bedded. ( i know you laugh ) but i just want it to be all it can be and stop shooting just the cheapest rounds for it. Maybe even start loading for it.
