45LC can handle bigger bullets and that means a lot if you buy into the fat/heavy way of thinking. Personally I don't see an advantage with either assuming the LC gun is a modern design. If you look at the evidence you'll see penetration is similar, the LC does it with mass and the 44 does it with velocity. Thinking loooooooong term the 45 LC would be softer on your gun...and wrists. The choice should come down to other factors, like whether or not you already reload a different 45 or which gun is cheaper.

Spent an hour last night with a hammer and a large punch, trying to get my front sight taper pins out. They haven't moved any. Why hasn't anyone made a pin removal tool for this?
5/7/2013 12:49:06 PM
There is a block you can put the sight in to make it a lot easier. Make sure you are hammering them in the right direction since they are tapered.
5/7/2013 1:02:01 PM
they usually come out left to right. don't be afraid to beat the piss out of them.
5/7/2013 1:46:49 PM
home defense shot gun people.... what do you keep'er loaded with ?
5/7/2013 2:17:33 PM
00
5/7/2013 2:28:10 PM
Buckshot. I'm not really picky about what kind.
5/7/2013 3:08:43 PM
00 in my 12 gauge, whatever kind of buckshot I have in my 20 gauge (for the wifey)
5/7/2013 3:20:52 PM
Ill see if I can find it, but the FBI did a study years ago that said #4 buck was the most devastating load for a human target. If it wasnt an immediate kill they said there was no surgeon in the world who could sew up that many large wounds.
5/7/2013 6:18:32 PM
I think I read that. It had to do with the cross-sectional area of each projectile and the total number of projectiles. In reality, any buckshot will do just fine.

Just get a desantis. Read a page or two back, we discussed that there.
5/7/2013 10:25:23 PM
Lol@ NRR.Mines loaded with 00 I was just wondering what y'all use. If you go more the bird shot sting the shit out of someone or the hit them with 8 50+ grain projectiles.
5/8/2013 2:30:52 AM
^^^page 205. Desantis ITP holsters. Most people here have the Nemesis (link). I recently got the Super Fly (based on the Desantis suggestios ITT), which is the Nemesis v2.0 (link). I prefered the Super Fly for the removeable flap; I leave it on as it provides better concealment in case it pokes out of your pocket and it reduces printing; it also has an "improved" no-slip coating.]
5/8/2013 8:47:51 AM
Probably not that impressive to some, but I am absolutely thrilled with it. No heavy visible modifications made to the center console, but I did have to do some work on the holster to reorient the attachment point. Was originally wanting to mount it horizontally under the dash, but it hangs just slightly too low.
5/8/2013 9:22:25 AM
BB isnt a bad defensive load methinks.
5/8/2013 12:03:17 PM
I keep #6 bird shot in my 12ga. Houses in my neighborhood are maybe 15-20ft apart and I'd hate for any stray pellets to go through the drywall and into the neighboring houses, should I use something larger/more powerful.
5/8/2013 12:43:06 PM
yes
5/8/2013 12:45:43 PM
Bird shot is for birds, not self defense
5/8/2013 12:53:13 PM
The two rounds behind it are 00 buck. My 9 is nearby, as well.
5/8/2013 1:07:14 PM
might not get a chance to get to that second and third round
5/8/2013 3:33:57 PM
i've never understood that staggered loading, warning shot stuff. you can't know what you will get a second or third shot, you should be trying to end the threat with the first.
5/8/2013 3:45:15 PM
And possibly end the lives of the kids that live across the street from me...someone kicks down my door and I fire buckshot at him, those pellets are going right into their bedroom. I don't need that kinda blood on my hands.

"#8 bird shot wont penetrate human skin at more than 55 meters"anyone care to confirm? Interesting video, though.
5/9/2013 8:04:30 AM
i have some at the house... wanna pace off 55 meters and we'll give her a try?lol 55 meters is pretty damned far for bird shot anyway the spread would be huge.
5/9/2013 8:11:09 AM
I've been peppered with bird shot while dove hunting. just a slight sting. now i cant confirm how far away they were but it came from across the field. but keep in mind 55 meters is about 180 feet. it's hard for something so light to maintain any amount of energy over distance.

Hopefully all goes well and I'm going to land my Ruger LCR on Saturday; too bad I won't get to qual with it until the Fall [Edited on May 9, 2013 at 9:08 PM. Reason : ...]
5/9/2013 9:01:12 PM
what caliber?
5/10/2013 9:53:38 AM
38 Spl +P
5/10/2013 5:24:21 PM
+P is a caliber?
5/11/2013 12:45:33 PM
It's a 10% increased pressure rating, so it does make a difference in what it can shoot. Most +P is a bit quicker than regular 38 Spl. and delivers more energy.
5/11/2013 4:10:47 PM
I just want to shoot my damn gun
5/11/2013 5:37:19 PM
^^ When buying an LCR, do you get a choice of 38 Spl or 38 Spl +P?
5/11/2013 8:47:16 PM
Lol Going to Goldsboro tomorrow
5/11/2013 9:40:39 PM
Rawr Rawr Rawr he added +P when asked caliber; When you buy an LCR, you get the choice of buying a .22 WMRF, .22 LR, .357 or .38 Spl +P as written in the literature and on the weapon. Quit trolling you fucking tool.

Anyone else love Rugers, but really only after heavily modifying them?I picked up a 22/45 Lite (threaded barrel) a few weeks back, and liked it but the factory trigger and manual of arms were horrible, especially having the pull the magazines out because of the damn mag safety. So today I installed a Voltquartsen match trigger, mag safety delete, bolt release detent delete (can rack the bolt to release now) and a pointless but fun compensator from Tactical Solutions. The trigger feels night and day different, mags drop out freely, etc...a world of difference. Only thing left is to improve the sights...and get a supressor, but I'm waiting until after we move for that heh.Had a similar experience with my 10/22, I love it now but I swapped out the trigger, stock, sights, and modded the bolt release before I really liked it heh.
5/13/2013 4:54:20 PM
^ I've done the mag safety mod so the magazines drop out freely, but haven't changed out the trigger yet. That might be my next mod. Would love to get one of the new black 22/45 Lites
5/13/2013 5:04:06 PM
Ruger and Tactical Solutions should just get together and have babies already.
