Don't you hate when you come back from having to leave the computer for 30 seconds to see that you had been dealt pocket 10's, then watch 3 guys push post 4 5 10 flop, and see a 10 come on the river? FUCK. I hate walking away and missing out on a ton of easy money.
2/8/2008 6:55:41 AM
I do hate it when that exact scenario happens to me as well
2/8/2008 8:05:04 AM
That's happened twice since I started playing the Sunday mtts. I was dealt AK and AA. Now I never leave for 30 seconds. It's a bitch timing rest room breaks when you're multi tabling.

This has probably been asked before, but do you guys report any online winnings on your taxes? Can or does the IRS can keep up with that?
2/8/2008 9:19:29 PM
Anyone on here BIGJOKERCHIP on Stars?
2/8/2008 9:28:52 PM
I don't, because I am not sure about the legality of online play now.... hell who am I kidding, I wouldn't report it anyway.
2/8/2008 11:54:48 PM
If you do it full time you should report it. The irs will probably wonder how you manage to live without any reported income.
2/8/2008 11:56:30 PM
I just used the mother/AIDS comment and apparently got reported to a moderator?
2/9/2008 12:44:08 PM
They'll send you an e-mail warning and tell you not to do it again or you will lose your chat privileges.

OK Omaha-Hi question.10 person table, you are on the button. .05/.10 blinds, one caller, next guy raises to .45 and 5 people call, putting (.05+.10+.10+6*.45)=2.95 in the pot. I look down at AhQhAd2d. The right play here is to bet the pot and isolate? I did this, got one caller, won a big pot (well... $30 at a $10 table) and then got chastized for my play by everyone, saying you should never reraise with any hand preflop. Thoughts?
2/11/2008 5:41:56 PM
Yeah, I usually reraise there and hope for a 1-1 all in preflop. You aren't going to get a much better hand aside from AAXX suited.
2/11/2008 5:43:54 PM
^x6 Well yeah its favored. But who the hell plays AAAA
2/11/2008 5:50:13 PM
^^personally i think it depends how much of your stack you can get into the pot with a reraise. if it's half or more, pop it for sure. if it's less than 10% don't unless you think villain is very likely to repop. somewhere between 20% and 35% is merky imo..
2/12/2008 1:58:25 AM
If I recall correctly I had just sat down and had won a small pot so I was sitting at $12.50ish, so my bet definitely put about half my stack in the middle. As for the hand outcome, the flop was 466 with 2 hearts. I immediately pushed after the flop, got called with 551010. I ended up hitting my flush, but of course I didn't need it to win. I guess more than anything else the flush was a nice protection in case he had 2 shitty hearts.
2/12/2008 10:19:36 AM
So, you had him beat the entire way down and they chastised you for it?
2/12/2008 10:34:40 AM
they are not good at omaha.
2/12/2008 2:35:01 PM
dont worryi dont like it either.
2/12/2008 3:21:31 PM
Yes. As soon as the hand was over they were all like "You must be a Hold Em player." That is 100% true, I have only started Omaha the last month, so I thought perhaps they were right. I agree there are some differences, but big picture, IMO the idea in both games is to isolate one opponent who is calling with an inferior hand. I very rarely raise or reraise when I play Omaha, in fact I only call when I either have AA, KK, QQ, or JJ or I have high connectors AKJ10, or maybe something like 5678 double suited. It's really easy to fold a good hand in Omaha because odds are, if the board didn't help you, no matter what you are probably beat.I saw a really neat hand the other day. A guy raises, gets called. Flop is 5c7c9h. Initial raiser bets, other guy pops it, this continues til both guys are all-in. Turns out the caller flooped a straight with 86 and the initial raiser had Ac9cAd9d, so basically the nut flush draw and top set. The guy ended up hitting his boat. I punched the hand in, and I even though the guy flopped the straight, he was a 63-37 dog to win the hand. So even though he called with shit and hit the nuts, the correct play would have been to fold, with the nuts!
2/12/2008 6:09:59 PM
OK that's twice in like 3 days. I think the odds of it happening once are 1/20,825 (1/(3/51+2/50+1/49)). I never multi-table so seriously the odds of it happening twice in one week are.... not good. Maybe I should play the lottery.
2/13/2008 7:20:22 PM
2/13/2008 7:30:45 PM
OK the way I see it.....Every card has 3 matches (duh). So select one from the deck, let's say for instance any queen. Now the chance of getting one of the other queens is 3/51. If you pull one of the queens then next the probability of pulling one is 2/50, and then lastly 1/49. Multiplying 3/51 x 2/50 x 1/49 and taking the inverse of the answer you get 1/20825.Is that not right?
2/13/2008 7:53:38 PM
y are you taking the inverse?
2/13/2008 8:09:21 PM
Let's say the answer came out to be .001 then the odds would be 1/1000, aka the inverse of .001.
2/13/2008 8:22:42 PM
2/13/2008 11:11:28 PM
^^^^^^^Thats the problem with Omaha - its a hard game to adjust to as a hold em player because you have to learn the nuts will not always hold up. Sometimes you have to fold them off the flop. If someone pushes you there you have to assume they have either a set, a flush draw, the same straight or a combination. Unless you have some of the cards he might need as outs to offer you some protection, its not worth it to call.
2/14/2008 7:13:25 AM
stars discontinued sngs till later this morning......what am i supposed to do now? not play cash, that's for sure.
2/15/2008 3:01:20 AM
Weird. They did the same thing last Sunday. Their servers seem to be lagging.
2/15/2008 8:18:06 AM
So I don't do this often, but here's an interesting little hand from a game I frequent...Texas Hold-em NL 1/3 Game:The final board is Ace of clubs, Jack of Hearts, 9 of Spades 7 of Hearts and 2 of Hearts. The final round of betting began with first position (who had led the bet from pre-flop aggressively) betting out $100. Cut-off (the only other position to play after the flop) raises $273 ($373 straight) which the original better has covered. This results in an instantaneous call from the opening better. What wins that hand? Straight? No unfortunately not. Flush? Don't be silly. The raiser wins with pocket 5's. The insta-call was a KQ off who truly thought his nut no-pair was good. You can see why I play there.
2/15/2008 11:40:22 AM
