What a change from that super challenging first half to that super fun second half. 22 points is the biggest lead in English top-flight history.71642

Arteta shifting the entire front line to accommodate Lacazette is crazy. He’s been bad for a long time now, Auba is by far the best CF in the squad.

Maybe next season we'll wish death on our owner right?? Lol!! Normal things!
2/4/2020 7:53:08 PM
plenty of your fans did for Hicks and Gillet. If you were around back then you would know. I like how its gone from not caring they die and realizing that nothing will change till they do to wishing they die.

So Liverpool fans, any concerns that the red Sox just traded one of the two best players in baseball bc he was too expensive? Are they freeing up money to sign mbabbe? Or will they fire sale if/when we close it out?
2/5/2020 7:01:51 AM
hm I don't keep up with baseball but after just reading real quick, it doesn't seem too much different from how I see Liverpool dealing with things now. They have their stars on really good contracts because they convinced them to sign long-term deals but if Salah/Mane/whomever chose to run down their deal so they could get a salary outside of what FSG thought acceptable (salary cap in baseball, current wage structure in Liverpool) then they would definitely sell. They're clearly preparing for something like that by integrating Jones, Elliott, Williams into the first team setup so as long as they have the long-term plan, I'm completely fine with it. It's always fun to see players come up through the team in that way -- both as proper youth players but also younger players with potential that Liverpool have added recently like Gomez, Mane, and Robertson.

Wazza boss: Wazza do you think you or your colleague should get the raise Wazza: I think I deserve the raiseWb: ah well since you don't care, we'll give it to your colleague
2/5/2020 8:41:12 AM
^^^sorry I need to do better at ignoring thingsBut yea I respect your calm and rational response. I think id have a hard time if they sold VVD bc he was too expensive. I love our front line, but I dont think any are irreplaceable level like VVD (or say mbappe, or messi for the last 10 years). I don't follow baseball as much anymore but Betts is apparently one of the top 2/3 players in the whole sport, not just the best Red Sox player.
2/5/2020 9:51:57 AM
equating apples to oranges like a straw man in both my personal opinions and Liverpool's potential business based on an irrelevant sport.LMAO
2/5/2020 10:10:15 AM
I don't really think anything the Red Sox do has any relevancy to how Liverpool operates. The Red Sox want to get under the MLB luxury tax threshold, which I'm fairly certain isn't a thing that exists in the EPL for Liverpool.
2/5/2020 10:11:32 AM
I think the Liverpool owners making a move that favors there wallets rather then their team is def relevant to the other team they own.I agree the luxury tax factor makes it less of a CONCERN but it def seems relevant to me
2/5/2020 10:24:29 AM
What makes VVD "too expensive" though? From Liverpool's perspective, they have him on a long-term deal right now until 2025. He either plays there until he's out of his prime or he makes a big fuss and they're forced to sell him but that isn't the same as trading an asset vs. investing more. They've already made the investment.I guess a better example is buying Mbappe will never happen at Liverpool (unless he wants a massive pay cut) because they will not pull a Manchester United and significantly overpay in wages for players, especially with their current squad. There's no reason to.
2/5/2020 10:29:32 AM
If you need to sell VVD to buy Mbappe then that would be the stupidest deal in the history of this sport. Even more so than Sanchez. ^I like how you equate overpaying to Manchester United when City, Chelsea, Madrid, Barcelona and PSG have been doing it for much longer. But the narrative I suppose....Football doesn't work this way unless you are the Glazers or Kronke. FSG has proven time and again they have the best interest of the club at heart and not the other way around. Shit even the Glazers haven't exactly sold a star United player to line their own pockets as deplorable as they are.[Edited on February 5, 2020 at 10:34 AM. Reason : a]
2/5/2020 10:32:51 AM
okay City, Chelsea, PSG, Madrid all apply too if it makes you feel better
2/5/2020 10:35:12 AM
^^^Yea i guess it's purely a hypothetical at this time. And I thinks it's fine to not buy an mbappe, but if you develop one you should work pretty hard to keep them. I'm not really concerned at this point, it's just interesting to see them make a move so widely panned. It's mostly just a conversation point since there isn't much worthwhile drama in the league right now.

Pretty much the issue across most of the world and not just in football. People/organizations with money use it to influence and gain more power. I really think the super league is going to be a reality one day. Qatar getting the WC was just an extension of this blatant money grab.
