thinking more about it...the 9 games for yurt7 might mean Kapita could be expected to get more. obviously nothing's guaranteed. but Kapita's story seems much more difficult and more shades of gray than Yurt7's. so if this is a case of the NCAA being like "well we can't necessarily prove anything, but there was maybe something here" and giving him 9 games, then my gut would be the Kapita gets more.

It would be great, obviously, if Kapita could play for us, but his recruitment just seems really, really weird. And there's a lot of smoke.

I don't think Gottfried did anything wrong, I just think Kapita being linked to multiple pro leagues isn't a good thing for his NCAA eligibility. Having him practice with the team only helps us get better.

What I've read seems to reflect this, more than Yurt but no sniffs of perm ineligibility. Tbh, anything up to a year off seems like a win to me.

i've always wondered what would happen if the ncaa said a player was ineligible but the school played him anyway. Would the other teams just refuse to play the game? would every game just be recorded as a loss? Would the media record the real record and then ncaa just not allow them in the tourney?

other teams would probably still play because of money and revenue. ncaa would get real red in the face and none of the wins would count officially and definitely no post season eligibility. and the ncaa would probably levy a pretty hefty post season ban and fines.

#15 seems about right if you're just basing it on potential(which is what preseason should be).

Going to be hard pressed to find too many squads out there with more talent/depth/experience than our current roster has. Obviously if Kapita is ineligible, that'll bump us down, but we are one of those teams that has a really high ceiling and fairly low floor.

I think it'll help that we'll start off with a light schedule, but I imagine when we drop 1-2 games before Yurt is back we'll be out of the top 25 and then we'll have to earn our way back in once conference play starts.

I think people are going to be surprised by the "Mav can play the 4 in a pinch".

Our first game of the season, I think you'll see Mav start at the 4 and play a hefty number of minutes. We have the players to go small this year, so I think you'll see plenty of that until Yurtseven/Kapita are eligible.
