synapse, he has def booked tickets via my account. A little sketch, but beats risking the accounts getting shut down due to violating the airlines terms and conditions in addition to paying xfer fees.
11/20/2013 12:09:38 AM
It really does - those transfer fees are insane.
11/21/2013 7:39:35 AM
Barclay 40K hit instantly after spend req was met. Guess I can use them for Vegas afterall
11/22/2013 12:50:14 AM
How long until i can apply for the Citi AA card and get the bonus?
11/25/2013 4:08:16 PM
How should we know?
11/25/2013 4:17:11 PM
Cause some have applied for it multiple times. I was sure if it was 90 days
11/25/2013 4:22:24 PM
^Try 18-24 months since approval of previous cards. I was rejected at 18 and approved at 24 for personal cards.
11/25/2013 6:29:28 PM
Oh, wasn't sure which citi aa you were talking about.Yeah, I think 18 months is the number I see thrown around a lot.
11/26/2013 2:04:50 PM
I'm still trying to understand the context for his question...he's already had the card in question? If so, does it matter how long ago he closed it, or just when he was approved for it?]
11/26/2013 2:09:04 PM
Maybe he had the card, got the bonus, cancelled it, and wants to know how long to wait before he can apply for the card again and get the bonus?
11/26/2013 2:11:42 PM
^Exactly.
11/26/2013 8:45:14 PM
i think i seen some of the people in here standing out on the curb wearing the statue of liberty twirling a cash for gold sign.don't listen to these people, credit cards are for suckers.
11/27/2013 3:09:51 AM
i think i HAVE seencome on man
11/27/2013 9:09:31 AM
^^, your statement is true regarding 85% of the American public. However, this topic is for those who aren't morons who carry a balance on an insane interest rate. I've never looked at an APR when deciding on a credit card and I bet most on this topic don't.
11/27/2013 9:51:24 AM
Ignore the troll people.
11/27/2013 10:09:14 AM
If there is no annual fee on a card just throw it in a safe or a locked drawer. The open available credit helps your score, you should have some activity on a card occasionally to keep them from closing it for inactivity. Scores push upward when less than 30% of your available credit is used on revolving credit. A way I get around it with my rewards cards is paying them off 3 days before the bill cycle date each month. (bill cycle date, NOT DUE DATE) The bill cycle date amount is usually what reports on your credit report, so if you pay down to 0 a few days before you balance will be nothing and your credit reports always show a low utilization ratio even if you are cycling tons of money through the card.]

After foolishly waiting for my Hyatt free night certificates to arrive via mail I now realize they were instantly applied to my online account.
11/27/2013 2:59:59 PM
So maybe I just missed this completely - but award wallet now has given everyone emails addresses. If you have your loyalty programs email to that email, it will update your account for you.Pretty cool
11/28/2013 6:32:26 AM
Finally called the reconsideration line for that Chase Business SW card and got approved after moving some credit line around!!!
12/2/2013 2:34:07 PM
sooo I never noticed the "Offers for You" on my Amex PRG until a few weeks ago. Some good ones I've taken advantage of so far: $25 off if you spend $75 at Amazon, $5 off $30 gas purchases at a number of different gas stations, and $10 off $50 spent at JC Penney.
12/2/2013 4:13:12 PM
I wish MY amex offered that. All I get is emails about shitty twitter tie-ins
12/2/2013 5:08:13 PM
Just signed up for a Chase Freedom; they are giving $200 for spending $500 within the first three months. I've never dealt with Chase before...any negative experiences with them? Their rotating 5% categories seem okay if paired with other card(s).https://creditcards.chase.com/freedom/learnmore
12/3/2013 6:28:56 PM
Chase is probably my 2nd favorite company behind Amex.
12/3/2013 8:14:57 PM
I love chase. I just opened two chase cards (the IHG visa and the sapphire preferred) and closed another, I wonder if I should try this one for the two hundy
12/4/2013 7:56:24 PM
^not sure if the bolded part applies to this particular card, or any chase card...?
12/4/2013 10:24:51 PM
Okay - I just realized if I spend 6k more I'm eligible for the companion pass; however, it has to come at the end of this year. Is this worth the effort or my time? Any recommendations? Suggestions?
12/8/2013 10:19:52 AM
I just cashed in a lot of points, but have the entire airfare and hotel stay paid for through points for a Swiss ski trip. Still have enough for our airfare to St Martin in June.
12/8/2013 2:37:21 PM
Cashed in miles and points for a week trip to Hawaii in January. Now that the AA/USAir merger has been approved Im spending my AA miles...I can see a devaluation coming pretty soon.
12/8/2013 7:43:04 PM
^^^ Yeah, I'd get it by prepaying some bills, using amz payments, and buying prepaid cards.
12/9/2013 2:28:44 AM
Found out you can just buy the 6k points for ~150$. And actually right now you can get them for ~45$ to get the companion pass.
12/9/2013 6:32:48 AM
Where the hell can you get 6k sw miles for $45?!?!?
12/9/2013 11:13:14 AM
Was reading flyertalk. You can get 1700 points for a 30$ spend on 1800flowers. And amazon had a local deal for 30$ for $15. A guy on flyertalk said it worked - I tried - it didn't[Edited on December 9, 2013 at 11:19 AM. Reason : ]
12/9/2013 11:16:45 AM
^^ yeah those points are worth like ~$100 towards SW flights.
12/9/2013 11:35:31 AM
So it looks like I'll need to find someone else to sell rewards too. I'm currently having a bad experience with Bruce right now.Do we have a comprehensive list of all the places to sell miles, as well as a general feedback?I know rewards2cash.com and sellmyrewards.comDoes anyone have a model like Bruce where they just paypal you the money?[Edited on December 17, 2013 at 7:05 AM. Reason : ]
12/17/2013 7:04:52 AM
sellmyrewards.com will paypal the money and even do a wire (which makes sense when the wire fee is less than the paypal % fee).
12/17/2013 7:11:18 AM
Define "bad experience"
12/17/2013 9:54:42 AM
He used around 2,000 more points than what I sold him. I contacted him over 5 days and never got a response. That said, he's going to make it right. He told me had brain surgery and that's why he hasn't been getting back. He even sent me a picture of it. [Edited on December 17, 2013 at 10:44 AM. Reason : ]
12/17/2013 10:35:12 AM
So we're talking like $20 here right?Did he make it right?
12/17/2013 10:52:11 AM
We are - but it's an account I was trying to build up again - 2,000 points doesn't always come easy.Yes[Edited on December 17, 2013 at 11:13 AM. Reason : ]
12/17/2013 11:13:14 AM
I hear ya. That would be annoying.
12/17/2013 11:30:27 AM
I sold him 90k AA miles in May and he's only used 70k. I just changed my password back since I'm trying to build it back up again. I don't want to screw him out of 20K, but I don't really want him to have access to an account with additional miles he has yet to pay for. I could always try to sell him the 20K twice and see if he notices
12/17/2013 12:04:20 PM
12/17/2013 12:04:48 PM
Lame. Can't vouch for citi but Chase has been good with that stuff in the past.I don't do it as often as I should, but a lot of times I ask about the bonus if I call in to activate my card.
12/17/2013 12:06:07 PM
So the card is paid off now and I am trying to figure out if I close it can I sign up again the next time they have a good offer. If they have a retention department, that might be the perfect place to get the promo added, but if they will not make this right I have absolutely no use for this card and have already established the customer service sucks.
12/17/2013 12:58:41 PM
Yeah, Amex>Chase>Citi for cust service.
12/17/2013 1:27:50 PM
12/17/2013 1:30:40 PM
Word, well I'll give him access again when the rest hit. I don't want a faux pas like yours...
12/17/2013 1:43:18 PM
Don't blame you at all.
12/17/2013 1:43:35 PM
I just read that AA's OneWorld alliance will be ending with the merger. Any truth to this?I have 75k miles I was planning to use for a trip to either Australia or Europe. Are there any strategies I can use to make sure I'll be able to use the miles for this trip? I already have several vacations planned for 2014, so I would really like to plan this for winter 2015. AA's window is open till November 2014 currently, will the OneWorld agreement still be in place in February which would allow a January 2015 flight? What about scheduling the flight for November and then cancelling. Does AA's 1 year allowance to reschedule a flight apply to OneWorld fares, even if the OneWorld agreement ends? Also planning on leaving an open leg flight to HNL on the itinerary if I do the Europe route if that matters at all.I know this is a little off topic, but I'm hoping a couple of you who have some extensive flight planning experience might have an answer.
