Young people voted against, old people for. It's only a matter of time at this point for those old people to die off before this is reversed.

Honestly, this makes me value the institution of marriage less. State-recognized marriage has been used as a tool for bigotry.I'm resentful that if I ever do marry my partner we would have benefits that others don't have who should.I don't personally want any kind of complicity in this bullshit ever.

North Carolina doesn't care about gay people.

Unless one exists I'm going to also whip up a map of how people voted on the amendment compared to education and maybe some other demographics. Just so we can all see what we probably already know.
5/8/2012 11:55:52 PM
We allready know how the triangle voted and we have the highest concentration of PhDs in the country.

This shit was lost in 2010Legit question that was asked: "So does this mean we can't speak anymore? You know since the amendment is regarding freedom of speech."FUCKING FACEPALMThe people I dealt with in Southeast Raleigh were all black and they came from the upper room baptist church or whatever its called. They hounded every person that walked into the polling place saying this is the orginal way families were formed and we should keep it that way.I am so so so upset about this right now. I heard a lot of black people fearing what would happen if we allow gays to marry. One lady said to a voter: "WHAT'S NEXT?!?!?! A MOTHER MARRYING HER SON???"Fuck that...I'm mad that I was looked at as less of a Christian (wow I did just throw an F bomb before this sentence) because I wanted folks to vote against this amendment. I tried to take the viewpoint of those that were against gay marriage and tried to remind them that it's already illegal. That seemed to work well.Man this sucks...fuck I can't even put my thoughts into words.

Guilford and Forsyth surprised me by not going against.
5/9/2012 12:15:56 AM
have you been to guilford and forsyth counties?

Guilford surprises me.Forsyth, not so much. There are very very few young people in forsyth county.[Edited on May 9, 2012 at 12:18 AM. Reason : guilford was for by less than 100 votes, FWIW. ]

5/9/2012 12:21:17 AM
I was just in Winston-Salem for a job interview last weekend. Everywhere I looked were signs against amendment 1. I know Forsyth is more than just W-S, but Wake is also more than just Raleigh-Cary.
5/9/2012 12:27:17 AM
fuck every fucking idiot that voted for this thing
5/9/2012 12:36:15 AM
I never saw an exclusivity contract in there either. So the bible is kinda an instruction manual right ? So when I learned how to ride a bike it told me to put both hands on the handle bars and pedal. It never mentioned riding no hands, wheelies, jumps, or the entirety of the xgames. I'm just saying just because it wasn't in the instruction manual doesn't mean it's wrong.

I assume that one guy wasn't implying that we could somehow force the way God planned it to be back upon the world. That would be counter intuitive.

Yep! Sharia Law implemented in NC
5/9/2012 1:29:48 AM
Imagine if people took real issues as seriously as they do social issues. What a joke our society has become.
5/9/2012 3:10:47 AM
"real issues" is pretty fucking nebulous, i'd love to hear some examples
5/9/2012 3:17:04 AM
I halfway agree social issues are important but there is no en masse movement unless it has to do with gay rights I mean at the end of the day we are only concerned with the pebble in our shoe
5/9/2012 3:17:13 AM
^gay rights was the least of my concerns with this amendment tbh
5/9/2012 3:19:51 AM
If u say that to the wrong person you could be labeled a homophobe and a bible thumper
5/9/2012 3:21:20 AM
I couldn't give less fucks. Anyone who knows me wouldn't make those assumptions.
5/9/2012 3:25:01 AM
I personally think the recent attacks on women's reproductive rights and access to healthcare on a national scale and stripping away our bodily autonomy is much more concerning than a bigoted amendment in one state. I'm going to get up on TV with a pile of burning wonderbras and kim kardashian whore shoes. If you don't wake up, lazy bitches, you won't need any of that shit after you get stuck with a child of unprosecuted rape after you get detained by the TSA for refusing to let them grope your no-no spot multiple times. [Edited on May 9, 2012 at 3:30 AM. Reason : ]
5/9/2012 3:29:03 AM
gay rights affect like 2% of the population. The rest of the homos just marry a random woman and suck dick on the side so they can live a "normal" life.$15 trillion affects everybody. Lowest % of citizens working since 1981 affects everybody.Seriously, when almost 50% of the population doesn't have a job, shouldn't we turn our eye to more important things?Dont look here, look over here!!!! You people are like 6 year olds at the shell game booth on the atlantic city boardwalk in the 80's. Grow up jesus.
5/9/2012 3:29:56 AM
Yikes
5/9/2012 3:30:51 AM
Unlike spending 15 trillion dollars on killing or policies that would aid job creation or establish iron rule over vaginas, and bestowing crooked fucks of all kinds the power to take advantage of everyone without the courtesy of a goddamn reacharound, at least there was the pretense that this shitty law was the will of the people (though they're clearly inhuman) and that we were at least presented the illusion of democratic choice in the matter. Of course they're just throwing a bone with the charade that that popular opinion might actually count for something instead of having to simply continue enduring whatever the tyrannical oligarchy forces upon us all. Of course apathy reigns under those conditions. And clearly, people "caring about" 15% unemployment doesn't do diddly squat to create jobs.[Edited on May 9, 2012 at 3:51 AM. Reason : ]
5/9/2012 3:49:04 AM
Listen any human worth a shit opposes the war but its a huge business for this country and as long as its profitable and donors continue to usher candidates to the forefront it will continue. "Policies" that support job creation is laughable. The government agenda is to destroy as many jobs as possible. The more jobs they destroy, the more obedient their citizens are.
5/9/2012 3:59:17 AM
some business, that leaves every family $150,000 in debt. however, how do you expect citizens to get involved in real issues when there is no recourse to be made? That shit is emotionally exhausting, no wonder people are numb.
5/9/2012 4:10:48 AM
From a friend's FB
5/9/2012 6:01:30 AM
Your friend is a fucking idiot to say something like that and since the word "bigot" is thrown around so easily these days he appears to be an insensitive bigot to me. What does being gay have to do with enjoying or not enjoying being fucked? He's showing his own form of stereotyping and close-mindedness with that little joke.
