you put Android on it yet?
12/25/2011 8:20:02 PM
yeah, I did that immediately
12/25/2011 8:23:18 PM
I picked up the 32gb in September for $150. I still haven't installed android on it. In the early release I read about the issues such as the sleep of death etc. I know several updates have been issued since then. Would it be worth it to try installing it now or should I still wait. I bought the touchpad for my 6 year old son so I'm not really in too much of a hurry to change anything. I would love access to better games though.[Edited on December 31, 2011 at 4:48 AM. anybody else having issues installing the update OTA? since I have Cyanagenmod installed, when the WebOS upgrade install begins and the device restarts, it goes to teh Clockwork boot menu, if I select WebOS it says the install fails, if I let it boot into Droid, then reboot, it fails alsoany ideas?
1/12/2012 6:07:57 PM
Think I'm in an infinite reboot loop. Don't even get to the boot option menu. HP logo shows for a while, screen goes off, hp logo shows for a while....]
1/12/2012 6:09:51 PM
is there some way to temporarily disable Moboot?
1/12/2012 6:11:57 PM
welp ended up using webOS Doctor. Had to wipe everything but oh well
1/12/2012 6:30:22 PM

1/13/2012 9:28:15 AM
anybody know what firewall ports WebOS uses for normal internet access? have a firewall with all ports blocked by default, with the necessary ports open for HTTP, remote access, etcfigure i need to create a rule to manually open the ports but don't know which ports
1/17/2012 9:55:52 AM
1/17/2012 10:06:48 AM
couldnt get internet access through that firewall on the CyanogenMod end either, even though my Android phone had internet access, so I dunnoit was funny doing a little research on it though, came across some thread where somebody was complaining about not having internet access once he left the house on his touchpad (didn't understand tethering), so he says he's gonna buy all this other hardware just for the sole purpose of tethering...guess you had to be there :\

Of course this happens on internet blackout day! I want ICS!
1/18/2012 8:38:56 AM
Hot damn!! I know what I'm doing tonight instead of going to bed at a reasonable hour.
1/18/2012 9:39:13 AM
I'll install it when video fully worksdon't really care about the camera though
1/18/2012 10:15:07 AM
i really only use it as a Kindle so I probably will not update to ICS unless I get super bored
1/18/2012 1:31:48 PM
I challenge anyone to find a better game app than Robotek
1/19/2012 9:31:07 PM
^I love that game
1/19/2012 9:32:11 PM
I'm just glad the thing can play the hbo/cinemax apps now
1/19/2012 9:32:33 PM
^^playing multiplayer against other players is lots of funbut i hate the fuckers who just do the laser all the timemy personal strategy is to try and get at least 2 robots then put up a shield
1/19/2012 9:34:39 PM
I sucked at that game, gave up w/ it fast
1/19/2012 9:52:36 PM
you should give it another shot and pay attention to the tutorialimo
1/19/2012 10:03:30 PM
finally installed CM9they said hardware accelerated video wont work, but I haven't found any video to work quite yet (only tried one site that streams video though)
1/27/2012 8:48:11 PM
Sold both of my 16gb and cases for 220 each, buying an iPad. I enjoyed it with android but I still like the iPad better.
1/28/2012 11:16:01 AM
ICS isnt bad but I think i still prefer webos[Edited on January 28, 2012 at 12:34 PM. Reason : .]
1/28/2012 12:34:33 PM
I definitely prefer WebOS. If it supported Netflix (and had a much larger app store) I'd be on WebOS 99% of the time.
1/28/2012 6:16:46 PM
It still feels like a late-stage beta OS though (probably because it is).I hope the open-source community can advance it, without crapping it up.
1/29/2012 1:54:57 PM
Just installed ICS on my touch pad. I just wish there was a better keyboard.
1/29/2012 7:12:30 PM
i'm hoping with Open WebOS it'll start showing up on android tablets
1/29/2012 7:24:08 PM
I would love webos on my galaxy nexus...if i get to keep the nexus browser!
1/31/2012 7:45:17 PM
just realized this thing can play .MKV files
2/6/2012 6:45:20 PM
I'm completely wiping android off my device so I can install the WebOS upgrade and resolve a couple other minor issuesonce I get WebOS updated, should I install the CM7 3.5 Alpha or try the CM9 alpha? I'm more about function than a fancy Android OS so I'm leaning towards the 3.5
2/7/2012 9:45:23 AM
I haven't run into any problems with CM9 v0.6.
2/7/2012 9:56:06 AM
uninstalled android, webos still wouldnt update, so i webos doctored it...just got all my preware patches reinstalled since hp's backup doesnt restore thosei noticed touchplayer wasnt available in preware anymore but here's a workaround since kalemsoft player sucks...dont thank me, thank Saint Germain1) Deinstall Touchplayer2) Luna restart (or reboot your Touchpad)3) Open preware and select the top left menu4) Select "Manage Feeds"5) Go all the way down and enter the address "mobilecoder.touchpadhp.info/mcfeed" AND deselect the "is compressed". Click on "Add feed"6) in the preware top left menu, select "Update feeds"7) Find Touchplayer and install it8) Luna restart (or reboot your Touchpad)]
2/7/2012 3:43:39 PM
going to try and put cm9 .6 on mine. hope i don't do it wrong. always feel like i'm one step from bricking my touchpad
2/7/2012 3:52:51 PM
i just copied the zip files for 0.6 onto the touchpad and copied the new ACMEInstaller2 to my Palm directory, getting ready to novacom it upif you brick it, worst case is probably 30 minutes of WebOS DoctorI uninstalled CM7 before doing all this stuff but it still left some android specific folders and data files, so I'm interested to see if stuff gets overwritten, duplicated, or left alonenew splash screen is sweet[Edited on February 7, 2012 at 4:21 PM. Reason : .]
2/7/2012 4:11:53 PM
i just copied the zip over and rebooted in recovery mod and installed it. not too happy- the hbo/cinemax apps don't work, a few websites that use to load don't. crackle doesn't even work =/
2/7/2012 4:34:36 PM
i like it myself at least as far as the ICS interface (which i havent used before) and the responsiveness, seems pretty quickjust installed the Google Market zip so I can start downloading appsah shit, installed the CM7 market zip, stuck in an endless cycle of the installation failing and starting back up, time to boot into webos and install the remove android patch in preware [Edited on February 7, 2012 at 4:57 PM. Reason : ..................................................]
2/7/2012 4:42:15 PM
when my screen turns off, the bass turns into distortion if Pandora is playing (while in the ICS)but it works fine in WebOS' Pandora, obviously
2/7/2012 6:03:47 PM
i know most of yall upgraded from CM7 to CM9 with a zip file, but I'm having trouble finding a Google Market file compatible with CM9...found a link online but it was hosted on a filesharing site that had been shutdown...tried reinstalling CM7 with intentions of zip upgrading, but for some reason couldnt get it to connect to my wifi[Edited on February 7, 2012 at 6:07 PM. Reason : nm, CM9 comes with Market ]
2/7/2012 6:06:16 PM
ok CM9 doesnt come with Market, you need to download gapps-ics-20111230.zipi'm liking ICS, very fast
2/7/2012 7:45:37 PM
yeah, there's an ICS specific google apps. The new Chrome for Android browser is pretty snazzy
2/7/2012 7:49:03 PM
Indeed
2/7/2012 8:17:13 PM
might go back to CM7 3.5 and wait to upgrade to CM9 when it supports netflix, watchespn, hd youtube videos, etc
2/7/2012 10:55:07 PM
