You could pull three from the Big 12 since it's crumbling. And UCF wouldn't be bad to grab from C-USA. They have an improving football program and is the biggest university in Florida.
9/18/2011 11:48:11 AM
who would have thought the ACC would be the conference to make the big splash...glad we did because we could have been SOL
9/18/2011 11:49:01 AM
chances for ECU in the big east now?
9/18/2011 11:51:26 AM
better chance than everthough I'd like to see the ACC give ECU and Louisville a look.
9/18/2011 11:53:23 AM
^Can you imagine how much we'd hear from ECU fans if they got a bid to join the ACC. It would never fucking stop.
9/18/2011 11:54:24 AM
if you are trying to expand and be one of the better conferences in this current situation you dont go and grab a Conference USA team (UCF)
9/18/2011 11:54:25 AM
i would hate ecu in the acc...too much in state recruiting battles going on as it is
9/18/2011 11:55:33 AM
^^The same UCF who gives every ACC team they play a run for their money? I think their biggest flaw who be their academics.[Edited on September 18, 2011 at 11:58 AM. Reason : ;]
9/18/2011 11:58:31 AM
You have the likes of Louisville, WVU, UConn and Texas available and you choose UCF? That would be one of the worst mistakes I've ever heard of...
9/18/2011 12:02:27 PM
9/18/2011 12:09:17 PM
9/18/2011 12:12:23 PM
adding pitt and syracuse adds PA and NY TV markets (I don't buy that they aren't looking at TV markets)adding UCF would make 3 FL schools... yeah seems like a great plan
9/18/2011 12:12:41 PM
9/18/2011 12:15:06 PM
I still vote WVU and Louisville as the other two, realign divisions to North and South and go on about our business.
9/18/2011 12:38:46 PM
Lets get FIU.
9/18/2011 12:48:35 PM
Which I said, just like West Virginia, that is there biggest flaw. Where as West Virginia has a small fan base that doesn't travel well. In a small state in a University thats isolated. Compared to one in Orlando. Yeah, fuck, having three teams in the same state. It isn't like North Carolina has have 4.[Edited on September 18, 2011 at 12:52 PM. Reason : ']
9/18/2011 12:49:01 PM
^^^ I could get behind Louisville and WV.
9/18/2011 12:51:13 PM
I'd much rather have WVU than UCFThey have had a lot of success in football and basketball over the last few seasons, plus they have a pretty heated rivalry with VT and Pitt anyway. At best, UCF is an overgrown directional university
9/18/2011 12:53:18 PM
9/18/2011 12:54:14 PM
If we're talking teams from Florida, why would we take UCF over USF? Not that I really want either of them.
9/18/2011 12:57:57 PM
I know I'm late to the party and I do understand that its all about the money but......FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK ...the addition of Pitt and SyracuseI would rather kick out VT BC and Miami so we could go back to the 9 team conference. I miss being able to play everyone twice in basketball.
9/18/2011 1:02:25 PM
stop living in the past
9/18/2011 1:03:29 PM
The only possible rationale to add UCF or USF would be if FSU and Miami defected, which is not happening. WVU is a poor academic fit, and since the ACC already has a foothold in the DC TV market (Maryland, not to mention VT and UVA in Virginia), adding WVU would add no TV markets other than maybe Charleston, WV. WVU is much more attractive to the SEC than ACC for this reason, especially given that the SEC schools have general agreement to not expand within their existing geographic footprint.UConn is a decent possibility. Whoever said Villanova is crazy, why would the ACC add a school with no IA football program (if you really want to get into the Philadelphia market you would look at Temple, or even Rutgers)? Even Louisville or Cincinnati would probably be at least as likely as WVU.Also, WVU has a good sized fan base that travels well. I don't think anyone thinks this move is about traveling fanbases.[Edited on September 18, 2011 at 1:08 PM. Reason : .]
9/18/2011 1:07:15 PM
This is definitely an upgrade from what we have so be happy.
9/18/2011 1:08:52 PM
Notre Dame and Texas please.(Yeah, right.)
9/18/2011 1:10:20 PM
USC and Georgia? Wouldn't that give some better rivalries with Clemson and GT?
9/18/2011 1:18:08 PM
You think we're going to steal two teams from the SEC? I doubt that.
9/18/2011 1:26:08 PM
ahahahah georgia to the accgive me a fucking break
9/18/2011 1:26:29 PM
lets grab BYU. get a religious rivalry set up
9/18/2011 1:28:53 PM
if there is one thing i hate, it's blind speculation. HEY GUYS, WHAT IF THEY DID THIS TO THE DIVISIONS. NEAT RIGHT?
9/18/2011 1:51:05 PM
hey PackBacker, I don't know if you saw this but Syracuse and Pitt have submitted applications to join the ACC!
9/18/2011 2:02:06 PM
Official now "ACC adds Pittsburgh, Syracuse from Big East"http://www.wralsportsfan.com/college_football/story/10148325/
9/18/2011 2:15:03 PM
^Nice! Great news!
9/18/2011 2:16:02 PM
finally! wral has reported it. We can move on with our lives now
9/18/2011 2:16:15 PM
We need Rutgers to round out the geography. How can we go from Pennsylvania to New York to Mass and just skip New Jersey (besides the fact that the state sucks)?
9/18/2011 2:30:27 PM
lol @ UGA and USCWe should totally grab Florida and Texas!
9/18/2011 2:31:43 PM
^^
9/18/2011 2:32:51 PM
^Great news. I really don't want Rutgers. They don't bring much to the table in football or bball.
9/18/2011 2:34:33 PM
Uconn is likely, they want in. They are good at basketball and pretty decent in football since they moved up. Overall seems to be pretty solid. I don't know much about their academics however.
9/18/2011 2:36:32 PM

Add UConn and WVU and call it a day. UL would work too
9/18/2011 2:40:42 PM
The question is now, who's 16? No way we take WVU or UL I think.Too bad Georgetown doesn't have a Div I (BCS) football team . . .[Edited on September 18, 2011 at 2:47 PM. Reason : r]
9/18/2011 2:41:03 PM
My guess would be Rutgers. Large public school in a state with money.[Edited on September 18, 2011 at 2:47 PM. Reason : and i don't care what that source said.. still would be my bet]
9/18/2011 2:44:37 PM

Poor academics.
9/18/2011 2:47:55 PM
I wonder how open Notre Dame is to giving up its independent status in football now. Supposedly their tv dollars have been dropping over the last 10 years while the big conference tv payouts have been going up.Notre Dame (while not on the atlantic coast) would be a great get. Realistically though they'll probably go Big 10 if they do anything.
9/18/2011 2:52:57 PM
Why would Notre Dame join any conference but the big 10? Seriously? I just hope actually get to play Duke every year now (and not Maryland).
9/18/2011 3:01:50 PM
how much would 16 teams change conference scheduling across the nation if there were multiple conferences that way? 10 games?[Edited on September 18, 2011 at 3:04 PM. Reason : d]
9/18/2011 3:03:14 PM
^^ Because they're Big East for basketball.
