Just remembered this painting in my house was done by an Iranian American student at NCSU — got it from the student art sale about 9 years ago. Looks eerily like the burning oil drums

^Out of curiosity, how old was the guy? I was just wondering if you know whether or not that painting was inspired by a particular event, like the oil fires in Kuwait, in Iraq War I, for an example (I know you said he was Iranian, by the way).

And that quote, is that from within this thread, or is that from the artist?

ETA: I guess maybe the reference to "paint" just answered my own question, lol.

^ it’s the artist’s blurb on the painting

They were a grad student in engineering, the painting had been in works for a while but it was something in the first trump admin that was the inspiration for the final version — I think maybe the travel ban?

So are the attacks on Iran even coordinated between the US and Israel? Seems like Israel went on their own in bombing those oil facilities. I hear this is the largest disruption in oil production in history.

Thanks Obama!

Trump speaking at 5:30 eastern. I hope he gives new figures about how much drones and missiles from iran have decreased in past few days. Last fri they were saying how it had already went down like 85% etc. I figure trump cuts bait by march 27ish if we haven't subjugated them by then...he will be like ok lets gtfo we won etc etc

Rumors that taco is happening today. Markets already reacting as if Trump is winding down. Very ominous for the people of Iran if Netanyahu now is being blessed to do whatever he wants though— unclear how this affects oil markets unless they’ve negotiated a withdrawal in exchange for opening Hormuz back up.

Fits with the trend of big showy military action then move on to something else. Wouldn’t be surprised to see something in Cuba soon as they’ve been telegraphing.

I honestly don’t believe a word of it anymore.

Also, if coal companies can remove mountain tops in VA and W. VA, why do we still have a straight of Hormuz? Let’s just America that sumbitch into a straight canal.

Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again - Death, Fire, and Fury will reign upon them
— But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen! This is a gift from the United States of America to China, and all of those Nations that heavily use the Hormuz Strait. Hopefully, it is a gesture that will be greatly appreciated.

When bush started threatening Iran it allegedly caused a backlash where regular Iranians shifted their support to more anti-American candidates. Will be interesting to see what happens this time. Will be a huge tragedy if after all this the thousands of protestors that died in Iran a few weeks ago died for nothing.

Allegedly Iranian drones are making into uae— seems like the defense shields are out of ammo

So I guess trump telling irans neighbors to shut up about the interceptors wasn’t disinformation

I’m not seeing how any of this helps contain China either — seems they’re more empowered than ever.

Wouldn’t have happened if there were no Iran war currently.

So we have:

1) The school bombing
2) Friendly fire from Kuwait (likely not our fault but still looks bad)
3) This latest accident.

I realize accidents happen in war, but I certainly don’t remember hearing about as many in previous conflicts. Is that because the coverage is better now? Or is it because we’re just not what we used to be?

Quote :
"I'm starting to sour on this. I said by march 27 the other day, I don't even think Trump has that long. Its clear their citizens aren't going to overthrow the government. We can't keep them from attacking ships in the straight of hormuz, and arab countries are not going to offensively help us. The question is how do we get out without Iran looking like the victor. Really had hoped this would have went like Venezuela...oh well. At least we tried! If I'm Iran, its clear a nuclear weapon is needed.

This administration has no idea what the fuck they're doing and have shown their willingness to completely ignore the military leaders who know better.

I'm sure someone on this board will call it hysterics, but they're absolutely going to get more troops killed for no reason.
