You can memorialize a FB page where no one can ever mess with it and it'll stay there forever, basically. My aunt did it for my grandma's page. That lady loved her FB.

While I get why people do it, it's hard for me to write anything on her wall. I did it once or twice since she died but it felt really awkward. My mom, aunt, and great aunts do all the time, though. I don't see it as trying to get attention... Seems like it actually helps them grieve. I know that sounds silly but I'm not sure if I can really put it into words. My grandma said hi to everyone via FB every morning while she drank her coffee, and I think still being able to send something helps them through it even if they know she can't really read it. That all being said, I think the whole FB thing helps people more in times of a sudden death where they had no time to mentally prepare.
