Ah, about to crack my first ever Sierra Nevada Estate Ale!Highland Cold Mountain should be out in the next week or two... asked about it.
11/4/2010 7:41:08 PM
2009 Cold Mountain was A+. Still have a few bottles locked up after I found them at Total Wine for $1.
11/4/2010 7:54:29 PM

11/4/2010 9:24:15 PM
They also had St. B's Christmas Ale, which I'm going to pick up next trip along with ORIS I saw...[Edited on November 5, 2010 at 8:04 PM. Reason : ,]

If it didn't have so much work to do this weekend, I'd be all over that Olde Rabbit's Foot release.Picked up a 6 pack of Bell's Java Stout. Absolutely delicious.
11/5/2010 8:21:08 PM
just had the magic hat winter for the first time... I love it.very smooth
11/5/2010 8:26:03 PM
Anything from the Roth Brewing Company
11/5/2010 8:26:36 PM
Had some delicious Smuttynose Old Brown Dog old ale on tap at Busy Bee. Great. Make an ice cream float with that
11/5/2010 9:05:47 PM
3 Bottles of Olde Rabbit's Foot
11/6/2010 11:27:23 AM
drinking on some Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale. not as good as the oatmeal stout, but a very good nut brown ale.
11/6/2010 9:28:08 PM
^shit is whacky (IMHO)... I mean, it's ok, and I can see how people like it... but something about every samuel smith beer just hits me wrong[Edited on November 6, 2010 at 9:29 PM. Reason : /]
11/6/2010 9:28:59 PM
^I used to have problems with them being skunked because they were in clear bottles, but since they changed to brown glass I haven't had that problem.I picked up a bottle of this for $4.99 tonight:
11/6/2010 9:47:08 PM
^hmm, I don't think I ever had one in a clear bottle... guess I'm just not a fan and ^ looks interesting...!
11/6/2010 9:53:37 PM
ive been trying out all the seasonal winter beersI like this one the best so farhave sam adams and new belgium left.
11/6/2010 10:48:41 PM
^^^^ i can understand that. they are a bit different. the oatmeal stout is top class, imo.
11/6/2010 11:17:59 PM
Currently enjoying a fresh Smuttynose IPA (bottled 10/11) which was on sale for $8.99 at Whole Foods
11/6/2010 11:26:43 PM
This is soooo delicious imo. For some reason I didn't fully read the label and was expecting something along the lines of a pumpkin lager. Was pleasantly surprised when a Belgian Dark hit my tongue.
11/7/2010 9:45:02 AM
Picked up some Kona Pipeline Porter at the store tonight, one of my favorite coffee beers.
11/10/2010 10:43:17 PM
^indeed, mine too!Boulevard Seeyoulator Doppelbock - Dry, pretty full-bodied beer with caramel and brown sugar flavors.Big Sky Moose Drool, I poured it from a can and it poured a nice dark brown with about 3 fingers of carbonation, pretty impressive for a canned beer. Aroma is just a nice gentle scent of roasted malts. In terms of mouthfeel this is about as smooth as it gets. Flavor is a good blend of roasted malts, chocolate & coffee, maybe a hint of fruit, and just blends well for a nice sweet touch[Edited on November 10, 2010 at 10:46 PM. Reason : ,]
11/10/2010 10:44:53 PM
Anyone seen Cold Mountain anywhere yet?
11/10/2010 10:45:37 PM
i'd kill for anything from Short's, preferably a Huma-Lupa-Licious or a Black Cherry Porter
11/10/2010 10:54:50 PM
^I've wanted to try their beers for a while but I think they're only available in Michigan...they make some crazy stuff though (key lime pie, s'mores stout, strawberry short's cake, etc.)
11/10/2010 11:01:00 PM
Fuck yeah, i'm all Cold Mountained up over here. Flying Saucer tapped the first keg yesterday at 11 and it was gone by 9. It's very good this year. Also just got word my Local beer store just got in bail top big bottles of it as well so i'm heading there after lunch to grab a couple. woot!
11/11/2010 10:40:55 AM
having my first celebration ale of the seasonone of the many reasons sierra is awesome -- having a delicious ipa as their winter seasonal
11/12/2010 9:20:08 PM
I have yet to have Sierra's celebration/winter but I need to.Less a what am I drinking and what I'm looking for, has anyone seen the Guiness Foreign Stout anywhere around? It is not at the Lion and I'm told the Teets no longer has it.
11/12/2010 9:29:55 PM
^^ I'm on my third six-pack of it already this season! Also, Busy Bee is having some sort of Sierra 30th Anniversary event on Monday night. I didn't catch all the details but I might check it out...
11/12/2010 9:55:58 PM
i sadly discovered that my beer mini fridge quit working -- luckily all my ipas (except an already way past its hoppiness dorado) were in my main kitchen fridge so it was mostly a bunch of tailgating miller lites and the remnants of a pyramid variety pack someone left at my place that warmed upi'm assuming/hoping a lone monk's cafe and an '08 anchor christmas will still be ok...
11/12/2010 10:09:05 PM
tonight we broke out a 750 of Pisgah Solstice that I bought a couple years ago and stuck in the back of the beer fridge, still really nice, dry with a lot of apple flavorsome goods picked up this week - Sierra Nevada Grand Cru, Bell's 25th, passed up a Firestone Walker 14, and keeping an eye out for Terrapin Moo Hoo
11/12/2010 11:18:30 PM
anyone going to watch that new brewmasters TV show?
11/12/2010 11:30:37 PM
Quick, tww...I'm going to have my first legal drink in a few minutes, what should it be?Also, in before "why aren't you there now?". I had work until a short while ago, and now I'm heading out, waiting for my ride.
11/12/2010 11:53:14 PM
Something alcoholic
11/12/2010 11:54:29 PM
^^ Cold Mountain. Tis the season
11/12/2010 11:57:25 PM
^^^An ale, stay away from the lagers.
11/13/2010 12:48:43 AM
Is it bad that I already can't remember what I got?Also...backspace ftw.
11/13/2010 2:44:05 AM
Had a Rogue Mocha Porter the other night and didn't really care for it. I couldn't really distinguish any good flavors in it, just alcohol and bitter. Kona Pipeline Porter is next on the list.
11/13/2010 5:28:15 AM
^ I agree; I love Rouge Chocolate Stout and Rouge Shakespeare Stout... but the mocha porter was horrible.and I thought Kona Pipeline Porter was horrendous.
11/13/2010 7:55:26 AM
Anyone know if you can get Founder's Breakfast Stout anywhere right now? Seems like this is the time of year it should be available according to their website.
11/13/2010 10:37:43 AM
^^, ^^^ agreed about the Rogue Porter. I love most stuff by Rogue, but the Mocha Porter is just not good.^^ What didn't you like about the Kona??
11/13/2010 11:50:44 AM
^^I've been trying to bring it in to my store, but the distributor has been dragging their feet on it. They say it'll be in this week.
11/13/2010 3:56:43 PM
^^I wish I could remember... but sadly I don't. I just remember hating it. If I remember correctly, it had a very different taste than most porters...
11/13/2010 5:53:01 PM
ruination!the beer that made me a hophead, still delicious
11/14/2010 1:05:16 AM
totally out of order, but now having an sd county collaboration session ale -- even more impressive that this can stand up and be tasty/hoppy post-ruination at only 4-ish%kelsey mcnair is a hell of a homebrewer -- wonder if i've ever seen him out and about at obriens/hammys/etc in san diego...
11/14/2010 2:14:42 AM
11/14/2010 2:24:26 AM
yeah i've had to buy it in individual 12-oz bottles out here too, though it's been on tap around town as wellthis would be a great beer to buy in 12-packs, hoppy low-alcohol (session) ales are hard to come by...
11/14/2010 2:37:39 AM
Oh my...what an amazing beer. When it's still got some chill to it the hops really come through on the back. Almost like a black IPA even. As it warms the hops are just slightly detectable, which means the stereotypical IRS characteristics have more time to mingle on the taste buds. The consistency is perfect for me. A really nice almost milky texture. I'm seriously blown away by this.I'll be buying more next time I see it. Until then I also have the chocolate aged yeti that has yet to be chilled.[Edited on November 14, 2010 at 2:15 PM. Reason : seriously this is phenomenal]
11/14/2010 2:11:40 PM
^Had that on tap at my bar a couple years ago. Love that beer.
11/14/2010 2:21:03 PM
Just bought a growler of the Victory Moonglow Weizenbock from Busy Bee. Delish.
