my friend got married in jamaica and they did a seashell bouquet. they bought them from micheals or whatever and then put a pearl glaze on them, to give them a bit of a shine.looks really pretty
11/19/2009 8:15:35 PM
i actually think feathers may be forbidden...i'll have to look
11/19/2009 8:20:55 PM
saw your post in chit chat, if it can't formerly be alive then a shell may not work either :/
11/19/2009 8:24:59 PM
looked at the rules again. the cruise line we are most likely using just says no flowers may be brought aboard, and any flowers purchased through them can't be taken off. i will get more specifics when we actually book. i think i like the button bouquets the best though.
11/19/2009 8:27:42 PM
LK, that felt bouquet is STUNNING!
11/19/2009 8:27:50 PM
I know right! When I saw some of these things and I was so taken back with the "oooooh--pretty!!" that I would've done it, but they so weren't me/us.WEDDING PORN *droooooooooooool* hahaha
11/19/2009 8:33:40 PM
omg i was looking at bouquets the other day....WANT
11/19/2009 8:46:18 PM
LOVE that one! but i'm thinking i could make the button thing pretty sentimental, with family members collecting buttons that mean something.
11/19/2009 8:47:24 PM
DO WANT
11/19/2009 8:50:47 PM
Indeed.It's very Amelia Bedelia.
11/19/2009 8:51:30 PM
i need to keep myself out of this damned thread
11/19/2009 8:59:12 PM
ahaha I feel like a dumbass. Those felted flowers are from my friend in California's wedding I thought they looked familiar.
11/19/2009 9:07:01 PM
so I'm pretty sure want my skirt to look like this....i'm still trying to figure out the bodice. i would love something with a jewled accent.
11/19/2009 9:11:35 PM
gorgeous! my ass/hips are a bit large for something like that, but if they weren't that is what i'd go for.
11/19/2009 9:12:38 PM
very pretty
11/19/2009 9:15:44 PM
^^ haha yeah same. Too much junk in the trunk!

somebody mentioned yellow. My sis wanted me in yellow so I wore yellow. Here's an idea:[Edited on November 19, 2009 at 10:42 PM. Reason : j,,,]
11/19/2009 10:41:15 PM
<3 yellow! looks good on you, too!
11/19/2009 10:51:11 PM
someone i know did yellow and it was hideous. the dress posted above isn't bad but its a very delicate balance between shade of yellow and type of fabric and cut
11/19/2009 10:53:45 PM
Yellow is sooooooo tricky for white girls. I never even try sylver, you look SO good in that dress - it does great things for you.
11/19/2009 10:55:03 PM
ummmm okthis is probalby going to be dumb but i'm tired so if it is really dumb just pretend i didn't askso i really like the feather bouquet i think that is a cute ideabut the problem is the feathers yes - because they might have come off something alive? aren't there synthetic feathers? would those be allowed?
11/19/2009 11:28:01 PM
Yeah synthetics would be fine. Natural feathers are probably a no no because they can transmit disease to native bird populations.

ok...what do you think....bodice:i just like the beading/jeweling on the bodice. the neckline would be more corset-y like:this isn' the best example. what im looking for is hard to find.skirt:so mind that when they are made i'll make sure they match a little better, but this is kinda the look i'm going for.also....opinions?[Edited on November 20, 2009 at 9:37 AM. ^^^eh??This is their 2010 collection, but I know for a fact there's gonna be more than what's on their website. My dress was never on it. Could have something like what you're going for in a bridal shop.[Edited on November 20, 2009 at 10:17 AM. Reason : ]

11/20/2009 10:25:34 AM
w00t! I did good nice that they'll be making your dressthis skirt is more fluffy, but it's got the layers...yet the corset has more jeweling, though not a cluster. It's from their 2009.

^my hips/butt are far to large for that. beautiful though.this is the closest i've seen (even in my searches) to what i want.make the skirt a little less poofy and a little more sheath.and also bring the beginning of the skirt/bottom of top up a little.add a little jewel accent to the top and you pretty much have what i envision in my head.thank you sooooooooooo much elkaybie[Edited on November 20, 2009 at 1:39 PM. i have never looked at wedding dresses and i am in no danger of being engaged anytime in the future but I really liked the lace on one of the provonas dresses yall posted so I went and poked around on their website. I saw 2 dresses that I literally couldn't believe how beautiful they were and how much I liked them. They really have some great gowns
11/20/2009 11:33:03 PM
Their lace is so beautiful...it's what made me fall in love with their dresses.
11/21/2009 12:54:48 AM
Anyone ever hired a steel drum band before?
11/22/2009 7:14:03 PM
No but that's what I want for my beach wedding, as well as a violinist for the walk down the aisle. Have a feeling I'll have to pick between the two in which case I'll add steel drum band music to my iPod for the reception.
11/22/2009 7:20:37 PM
I thought for sure I was going to do an ipod reception but after going to a wedding that did the ipod thing I'm now not sure I want to do it
11/22/2009 7:29:17 PM
haha what made you change your mind??
11/22/2009 7:52:50 PM
i,too, want to know this.
11/22/2009 8:44:56 PM
I've been to three weddings where the people did the music themselves (ipod, CD, 96Rock , etc ) and two weddings that used a DJ or band. What I have found in weddings that did not have a DJ or band is that there wasn't much direction in the reception. For the dinner portion it's not a big deal and I think the ipod works really well, but after dinner I have definitely noticed a big difference in how many people dance, mingle around, etc with DJ and without. If your DJ is good, they can direct the mood of the reception and get people out of their chairs and rocking. But at every wedding I've been to that used an ipod format, you had bridesmaids or whoever practically begging people to get on the dance floor or just out of their chairs in general. I've even noticed that things like toasts get a bit weird with timing and stuff when there isn't a DJ directing the flow of the reception. So I think it really depends on what sort of reception you want to have. If it's just going to be dinner and drinking then an ipod is a good option. But if you are wanting people to dance and mingle around from my experience having a good DJ or band leader seems to be the way to go.
