21With all the uncertainty surrounding the COT in a restrictor plate race, I wouldn't bet on any of the dark horses. Jr. is about has far down the line as I'd go because of his previous superspeedway success. But you have to go with Jeff, Jimmie, and Tony... Kenseth and Harvick would be my other dark horses.

Although that is a C list, I think that Dale Jarrett is a pretty big stretch. He's done pretty bad all year... but its your list! I never say my picks...

^^Off the top of my head, I'd say Truex... I'll have to give it some more thought.YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST GUYS.... JPM will fuck himself and at least half a dozen other cars up.]]
10/3/2007 5:22:31 PM
^^^well him and Jeff Green were about the best of the C list options based on the past couple years' performances at Talladega specificallyalso the C listers just kind of suck...Ken Schrader, Boris SaidJJ Yeley and Reed Sorenson have been about the best C listers this year^JPM? is that Jamie McMurray?[Edited on October 3, 2007 at 5:24 PM. Boris Said is a wash, JJ or Reed might do ok.... but this race is not the place for a C-lister to get a breakout win. The big dogs will be out to play, and to win.I guess there should be an obligatory mention of the Busch brothers as well. One other thing to consider is #17's pit crew advantage when it comes to making adjustments and shit on the stops... the pit crews will have to be flawless for any driver to have a chance and they have the best.
10/3/2007 5:27:18 PM
i've currently got Jr. and Kenseth on my A-List...I'll wait for qualifying and pick one of themI have 2 starts each remaining with Johnson and Gordon and I figure I can get a good A-List finish from Jr. or Kensethi never expect much from a C-lister but everybody has to play 1 of themalso I'm completely used up on Kurt and I have only 1 more Kyle start (they're both B-listers...A-listers just means you made the chase last year, in case you didnt know)
10/3/2007 5:29:29 PM
JPM = Juan Pablo.or as they call him at the track, John Paul Montoya
10/3/2007 6:44:19 PM
oh yeah...Juan Pablo Montoya...aka Pedro de la Accidente

it was funny today when Villeneuve caused a big wreck at dega in the truck race and the announcers tried to say he is a champion and his car must have "broke" cause it couldnt have been his fault.toyota finally got their engine program going considering they have 5 out of the top 6 startin spots for the cup race
10/6/2007 10:19:44 PM
Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me to see the big one in the first 3 laps today, after seeing the starting lineup.
10/7/2007 12:21:28 PM
ha, and he's starting up close to the front too, that's just a clusterfuck waiting to happen.
10/7/2007 1:11:34 PM
LOL @ Jr....He's leading at Talledega and he said:"What's the score on the Skins game?""16-3, Skins""Hell yeah!"
10/7/2007 3:15:28 PM
10/7/2007 3:17:42 PM
inorite, I think he's probably relieved to be out of the Chase... it's well known that Jr. really and truly just wants to race and I think he's glad to have all the pressure and politics off him. He's driving like he's enjoying himself.
10/7/2007 3:19:59 PM
Wow, two more DEI/RCR engines let go.... who'd have thunk it? Make that 3, the #8 just blew up. DEI's Engine team = [FAIL HARD]]]]]
10/7/2007 4:23:46 PM
well damn. there goes Jr's motor
10/7/2007 4:39:06 PM
6 DNF's from engines is unconscionable.
10/7/2007 4:41:18 PM
ha, there goes the wreck. looked kinda small though

that was a crazy last lapcan't believe no one ran into each otherman i totally missed Gordon getting in front of Stewartcan't believe Jimmie Johnson didn't try to block Jeff more on that one [Edited on October 7, 2007 at 5:56 PM. Reason : asdf]
10/7/2007 5:53:12 PM
I was driving home on 220 (driving entirely too fast) and I'm passing people left and right listening to the race, so wrapped up in it... then Jeff Gordon was pushed my Tony Stewart to the lead in front of Jimmie Johnson, and I'm all screaming and cheering and going nuts, clapping and stuff.I bet poeple thought I was crazy! That puts Jeff Gordon first in the Chase, followed by Jimmie Johnson by 9 points...(Then Clint Bowyer by 63, and Tony Stewart by 154.) It's finally spreading out a little. The past couple races, the Chase has only been by a point or two.
10/7/2007 6:29:38 PM
Is anyone here going to the race next weekend? I want to go so bad, and I could go because we have a guy with tickets, but we have to work... It would suck working all day Saturday, driving to Concord, and driving all the way back to Raleigh to work again on Sunday at 7:30. Then again... this is the last race before May next year, and the chase is close with my main two drivers in the top two spots... and I would freakin' love to be there.[Edited on October 7, 2007 at 9:47 PM. ^^^^ Wait, you're not a Junior fan? Or are you just bandwagoning?
10/7/2007 11:20:08 PM
i'll be there too. plan on getting there around noon to tailgate all day. does anyone know if you can camp right at your parking spot? just set up a tent behind the truck?
10/8/2007 12:33:00 AM
^^ If you have ever read any of my posts in this thread, you would know that I am not a Jr. fan.If I was a Jr. fan, that would be bandwagoning. Where did that question come from anyway? I haven't mentioned Jr. in my recent posts.I have been a Hendrick fan for a LOOOONG time, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson have been my drivers ever since I have been a race fan... which has also been a LOOOOONG time. (See page 1 through 21 for proof! And last year's thread too, if you can find it.)[Edited on October 8, 2007 at 11:26 AM. Reason : ]

fuck Jamie McMurray and Mike Wallace and Dale Jr. dropping me to 2nd place in my league
10/8/2007 11:28:52 AM
Well really, fuck DEI/RCR's engine team would be more accurate.... speaking of accurate if you'd followed my advice you'd be golden.
10/8/2007 11:31:33 AM
shoulda gone with tony...i have 2 more races each left with jimmy and gordon...gotsta play jimmy next week at lowe'si could only play one of those 3 in my league as they are all A-listersleast i didnt play truex![Edited on October 8, 2007 at 11:49 AM. Reason : .]
10/8/2007 11:49:10 AM
I still maintain that Jr. and Truex were both solid picks... I mean I really didn't think DEI/RCR's engines would blow up AGAIN... And both Jr. and Truex clearly were doing well as far as driving goes. Did you guys hear the comment on ESPN that DEI was dragging down RCR through contact?

I think they need to change the races that are in the chase. There should be a road course in there. Pocono would also be a welcome change. They could replace any one of those 1.5 mile ovals that make up the majority of the chase races.
10/10/2007 4:31:06 PM
hell no pocono shouldn't be in the chase. That track and it's races have sucked since they implemented the gear rule. Let the teams and drivers shift and the racing will be better. Give them softer tires, and let them shift, and the racing will improve.
10/10/2007 4:43:01 PM
yeah pocono is a bad addition.they need bristol, a road course, get rid of a couple of the mile-and-a-halfers and it will be a lot better.nascar is growing in popularity, but the racing itself is worse than ever.
10/10/2007 6:19:55 PM
I was just using Pocono as an example since it's a 3 turn oval and it's definitely different compared to the other tracks. Since Pocono is ran twice, I figured one could be thrown in the chase. I definitely don't like the race, but I'm sure Nascar can find a way to make it enjoyable. I just want something that's different from the 1.5 mile tracks. Bristol or Richmond definitely come to mind too. Too bad they're both settled in right before the chase.
10/10/2007 7:17:43 PM
Heck yeah!! Tomorrow night, I'm going to qualifying! I've actually never been to a qualifying.
10/10/2007 7:22:15 PM
i will be there for the cup race saturdaybeen going for 16 years now
10/10/2007 9:14:33 PM
Lucky! Oh well... I have to work.
10/10/2007 10:20:16 PM
Why do they have that gear rule at Pocono? I've never understood that.
10/11/2007 12:23:26 AM
shifting gears is an advantage to some drivers?making everyone not shift keeps them equal?
10/11/2007 12:27:26 AM
I found a 2005 article on it. Doesn't exactly explain why but it's a decent read.Jimmie said he likes to shift, Tony said it makes him think too much.http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news?slug=bm-poconopre060805&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
