^ good callSru, did GNVC really close at 1.53 yesterday?damn, I certainly wish I bought some at that price yesterday.
6/13/2007 10:26:17 AM
^ not that i know of. it had one tick as low as 2.5, but i think that's as low as it got, and that might've been on one large trade.ok, USU is back where i bought it. this is pissing me off[Edited on June 13, 2007 at 10:32 AM. Reason : ]

ok, must be a yahoo finance errorgoogle finance shows something more reasonable. but check it out, good for a laughhttp://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=GNVC
6/13/2007 10:34:46 AM
it would be crazy if that was truebut yahoofinance is not making much sense right nowno way these intraday returns/yesterdays closing prices are correct:http://finance.yahoo.com/etf/browser/mkt?k=5&c=0&f=0and i blame only myself for getting burned on this one--i knew it was highly speculative. anything with less than 2 products in late stage clinical (phase II or III) research is a one trick pony, and should be considered highly risky.[[Edited on June 13, 2007 at 10:53 AM. 6/13/2007 1:19:42 PM
EWZ is up 28% since I bought in last December.VWO has leveled off a bit, it might be time to sell a bit of it.
6/13/2007 1:27:39 PM
i'm watching UVG. it looks like a solid etf.i also want to get in FCX, but its a bit fast.

So I sold a lot of June 80 calls on CLF when it was around 77 just over a week ago. It ballooned up to 92 at its highest. I assumed that I was going to lose my shirt buying them back, so I sold half as many puts at 80 and 1/4 as many puts at 85.Now its back at 77. I'll end up owning a good amount of the stock, but fortunately the options premiums are high enough that writing calls a few months out will completely cover my losses.
6/13/2007 2:27:04 PM
straddle that shit yo
6/13/2007 2:28:00 PM
Thats the plan.I'll wait out the week and hope that the prices will go up and drive up call premiums.

Morgan Stanley (MS) has been having a very nice year. Up 43.5% in the past 52-weeks, and 2.85% today.

we could investigate simply going contrarian to statehockey8, based on his daily sentiment.
6/14/2007 10:47:18 AM
same could be said about us and AAPL
6/15/2007 10:08:49 AM
^ what are you talking about AAPL is going to 150-160, maybe splitting...with some bumps here and there...hold on for the ride* Macbook 3rd Biggest Selling Computer on Amazon* Leopard 2nd highest selling software on Amazon with Preorders* Over 1 million safari downloads in 24 hours* New line of imacs coming within the next week* New touch wide-screen ipod* A little gadget known as the Iphone* Many more things I'm forgetting to mention, but the future for this company is looking bright[Edited on June 15, 2007 at 11:18 AM. heard somewhere that Apple is coming out with a phone
6/15/2007 12:04:44 PM
^^^^^ haha, agreed, though i would like to become contrarian to myself, it may bring in some bias to my projections

im about as passive of an investor as you can get... the last statement i even looked at was from Dec 31, 2006 simply for tax purposes...When i took my new job i had to move all my holdings into a company account so I was looking up the new share prices.Imagine my surprise when i saw Altria had gone from ~85 to 70. Dropped about 20 points in a fucking day due to some court ruling. OUCH.Basically wiped out all the gainers i've had in '07.Look at this fucking chart, I thought I was investing in asymptotes for a second. http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=MO&t=6m[Edited on June 17, 2007 at 3:15 PM. ^^ Weren't you assigned a few shares of KFT the day of the price drop?
6/17/2007 5:10:19 PM
^^ yeah ive got a significant chunk of my money in mutual funds but 4-5 random stocks that ive had a long time with altria being one of them...^ i have no idea... the stocks are a couple of random holdings outside my edward jones account so perhaps thats the case? i probably need to look into that haha
6/17/2007 5:30:50 PM
I remember the day that MO dropped and I almost shit my pants when I looked at my account. However, they assigned me enough KFT to cover the drop. Both stocks have gone up since then, so you should be alright.

also, maybe now is a good time to look at YHOO. whenever a founder or cofounder returns to manage a company, its stock starts doing well (recent example: Dell)

Here's my advice.Small caps, foreign, indexes, EFT'sdont even look at the name, performance, or relevant literature.Just dump the money in now and buy a yacht when you're 59.5.In the meantime spend your free time reading about sports and booking your next vacation destination.P.S. Yes, i got assigned shares of KFT on the day of the drop. Thank god. [Edited on June 19, 2007 at 6:58 PM. Reason : a]
