Yeah, I had just copied it from when I did it a couple months ago. Johnson is in the list now. isnt the Tracy Smith deal still not closed?
4/6/2007 11:38:29 AM
^he hasn't signed a LOI yet, as far as I know
4/6/2007 11:41:03 AM
if Tracy still hasnt signed his LOI the time would be now, rightisnt it spring signing time in aprilmaybe we need to plan ahead as if he isnt going to be here
4/6/2007 11:43:13 AM
April 11th
4/6/2007 11:45:35 AM
Should be pretty soon, yeah. He couldn't sign in the fall because he hadn't taken the SAT yet (IIRC).The question was whether the NCAA would qualify Mt. Zion academically for this year.
4/6/2007 11:46:02 AM
Mt. Zion is off the NCAA naughty list, i can't beleive i forgot Johnson
4/6/2007 11:47:16 AM
^in that case, then Smith is pretty much a closed deal.
4/6/2007 11:47:55 AM
4/6/2007 11:50:15 AM
we don't have any room for em, plain and simple. just let it go cuz it's not gonna happen.
4/6/2007 4:01:51 PM
so who all is coming? bill walker?

4/8/2007 5:52:24 PM
^well, i sure hope not everything in that article is true. cuz if lowe contacted a player who has signed an LOI you might as well add that to a growing list of NC State off season shenanigans. That would be a blatant recruiting violation, i mean wtf is going on here?
4/8/2007 9:28:25 PM
^yeah, definitely not happy about that article.
4/8/2007 9:33:44 PM
sutton said beasley said....beasley hasnt said a damn word. I hope Sutton is just talking out of his ass.
4/8/2007 9:44:27 PM
^^^^ son of a bitch
4/8/2007 9:55:45 PM
i would really like to know what's going to come of this. is this the calm before the storm? or is nothing going to happen cuz the kid didn't have his facts straight. this has really got me worried.
4/8/2007 10:02:34 PM
Sure the article didn't say Lowe contacted Sutton rather than Beasley?
4/8/2007 10:26:16 PM
i wouldn't sweat it too much.although what do i know about recruiting policies?[Edited on April 8, 2007 at 10:27 PM. Reason : i'm guessing as much as everyone else here]

Sutton is talking out of his ass. From what I've heard, intermediaries btw Beasley's camp and our's(notice i did not say lowe) have spoken. No one's talked to Sutton, we are not involved with him and I don't think him and Beasley are as much of a package deal as he thinks.
4/8/2007 10:35:13 PM
beasley is nastyhe looked ridiculous in the McD's AA gamedefinately will be a star in NBA if that game is any indication
4/8/2007 10:50:30 PM
so did mcroberts and paulus
4/8/2007 11:24:03 PM

^way to completely miss the point.Contacting a kid who has signed an LOI is a recruiting violation.

it seems like half of the posters in this thread have a NCAA recruiting handbook nearby.Where can i get one of them janks?
4/9/2007 8:57:15 AM
i found several copies in the dumpster behind cameron indoor
4/9/2007 9:01:17 AM
I think what NCSUMEB was referring to was how when Sendek left, Larry Davis and Dan Werner although still bound to us by the LOI's were getting contacted by other schools. Davis we know for a fact was contacted by Seton Hall, and probably a few others, and Dan Werner was definitely contacted by Notre Dame and Florida. No recruiting violations were brought down on those schools. I know we're NC State and that'd be some NC State shit if we did get some kind of punishment from the NCAA, but perhaps the NCAA tries to look the other way when a situation occurs like when the coach leaves. Most kids nowadays go to a school first b/c they like the coach and his system. Facilities, campus, academics, and the fans are secondary. So it's not exactly a bad thing for a kid to look around for a situation that might better suit them.

^^^bingo. The K-state AD can play "hardball", but the reason we let Davis and Werner out of their LOIs was because in the end it doesent matter anyways and Sidney didnt want it hanging over his head on the recruiting trail. We said we would play "hardball" with those guys too, but in the modern NCAA it really makes you look bad for doing so to any future recruits you talk to. The incoming coach for K-state wont have that because it will make it harder for him to recruit.I just love how we are suddenly in the mix for all of these top "go NBA early" players now that we have Lowe. These Carmello Anthony types are the ones that carry teams to championships and can actually help us match the talent we've been compared to at UNC for so long.Lets hope that Hill doesent stay at Kstate and that Bartosz and maybe even Harris' kid are ready to pay for school themselves![Edited on April 9, 2007 at 11:25 AM. I believe Simon Harris is already a walk on.
4/9/2007 11:38:33 AM
Larry Harris kid Simon is not on scholarship. He's a walk-on. I remember him saying in a preseason interview when practice was beginning something to the effect of that he always wanted to be a part of this program, and now had an oppurtunity to do so. Also he said that since he already knew the players pretty well, he was able to come in and feel like a part of the team from the get go.

^ if you go to the nc state basketball tags, a few articles down
4/9/2007 12:26:32 PM
Yeah obviously Simon has a connection to the team b/c his dad has been an assistant at State since the early days of Herb Sendek... when i was younger and used to go to the Herb Sendek basketball camp he was there at least one year I remember. I never even realized his dad was Larry Harris till i saw he was on scholarship over at Elon
4/9/2007 3:33:12 PM
I live in Kansas and everything I am hearing is that Beasley is staying now that they've hired the assistant guy as the head coach. We should just let these rumors die.

4/9/2007 5:09:58 PM
This is a good thing guys. Yes, I know he is a great talent but if he comes here, who are you going to bench? Costner? McCauley? He's one and done and would not stand to sit on the bench for our guys who have already proven to be dominant ACC big men. If Grant gets deported, let him come. Otherwise, this is good news.
4/9/2007 5:17:08 PM
Yeah I was already dreading the ego problems surfacing over playing time. Beasley would not want to sit on the bench much and we just have so many starters returning and talent coming in, he wouldn't get the PT he's looking for more than likely.
4/9/2007 7:02:09 PM
I agree, if this was a dominant guard coming in, then I would be all for it. But we just have too many good big men for them to all get as much PT as they want.
4/9/2007 7:13:58 PM
^^^^OLD and still speculative
4/9/2007 7:39:05 PM
Oh if it were the #1 PG in the country I'd be excited and all for it. But it's another forward, and I do believe Sidney has gotten us enough of those as it is.
