Graphics matter sometimes. For instance, there are shittons of war games out that are damn near identical. Graphics will be a selling point for these. Really, most games with guns and smoke in general will be easier and more enjoyable to play if the graphics are top notch. They are realistic games and that is typically reflected in the graphics. However, that is not what Wii primarily caters to. And even when Wii has games like Red Steel, the graphical differences between consoles will be overshadowed by the use of the new controller.

^ Agreed.I want a Wii. As much as I hate not getting HD graphics, I'm still planning on getting on ASAP (if the funds allow). The next Mario Kart will be

Look at the graphics of something like Super Metroid. In my opinion, that was one of the funnest video games ever made and it kept me (and still does as I replay it every few years) occupied for hours. So then look at some game like that one that 50 Cent released last year. Sure the graphics of it are a hell of a lot better then Super Metroid, but it doesn't even hold a candle to the amount of fun. Graphics can only do so much.

http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=11696Third Party wireless sensor bars will be available which is great news for someone like myself with a projector who doesn't want to run cables to the front of the room.

anyone know if ebgames will let you pick it up midnight saturday?
11/11/2006 9:01:40 AM
i thought this was pretty good.http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/home-entertainment/nintendo-delivers-wii-in-ice-cream-trucks-214044.phpthats just funny
11/11/2006 10:56:38 AM
^^ I'd like to know that as well. Or are any Best Buys or Wal-marts or anything doing a midnight thing that Saturday?
11/11/2006 2:00:47 PM
if anyone cares, http://www.engadget.com has tons of unboxing pics & vidz of the Wiilucky punk even got Zelda & Excite Truck already [Edited on November 11, 2006 at 2:07 PM. Reason : .]
11/11/2006 2:07:00 PM
Now this is new:http://wii.ign.com/articles/745/745360p1.htmlApparently Excite Truck supports custom soundtracks through the SD card. Definitely something I'd like to see implemented in other games.

AHAHAHA!
11/12/2006 9:22:59 AM
I looked in today's sales papers in the newspaper and Wal-Mart was the only one that mentioned anything about the Wii. They are selling them first come first serve at 12:01AM sunday morning... limit 20 per store...Best Buy is doing a ticket process for the PS3, as well as Target, etc....What are these stores doing for the Wii? I Guess they aren't doing anything since they don't care to advertise... Or else I'll have to go up to the store and ask the managers.

Side by side comparison of the regular cables vs the component cables.I'm not sure that's worth $50, but I'll be getting them anyways.
11/13/2006 5:41:29 PM
those are awful pictures to compare...you can't see crap
11/13/2006 7:38:43 PM
Yeah taking a picture of the screen isn't the best way to get the point across. GC component cables were $35, so unless these are some ultra-high quality cables, it's a ripoff. Needless to say, I'm still picking them up.
11/13/2006 7:49:40 PM
I got pissed and lost interest a bit about a month ago because I was out of town when EB was doing preorders, but I'm pumped for Sunday now. At least I have Zelda preordered.
11/13/2006 8:42:39 PM
Are all the Walmarts doing the midnight sale thing Saturday night? If so, I think that's what I'll do...
11/13/2006 8:48:10 PM
They're only selling twenty a piece.
11/13/2006 8:52:50 PM
only 20 hunh? how soon do you think i'll need to get there?
11/13/2006 8:56:22 PM
I dunno I don't work there. The guy I talked seemed to believe people would begin lining up Saturday morning, but I can't see that happening.
11/13/2006 8:57:57 PM
I think I'll drive by there around 10 or so, and if there's a huge line I'll go to Target or something in the morning.
11/13/2006 8:58:37 PM
is best buy doing a ticket process like they are doing with PS3?
11/13/2006 9:13:32 PM
I got my Wii and Zelda pre-ordered at Toys R Us yesterday
11/13/2006 10:09:49 PM
are you guaranteed a copy on sunday? i need to call
11/13/2006 10:33:46 PM
Yep I am.
11/13/2006 10:40:12 PM
If I didnt preorder, where is the best place to pick one up at midnight on Saturday?
11/13/2006 10:44:13 PM
^ word on the street is Target or Walmart. Walmart is doing midnight sales some places? Target is getting a bunch, though apparently, but won't be doing midnight. I'm trying the Nintendo World Store and crossing my fingers.
11/13/2006 11:05:35 PM
^from what I read (on joystiq, I believe), the manager at the Nintendo World Store in NYC said that there should be plenty to go around on the first day. Of course, YMMV.
11/14/2006 9:39:31 AM
1 million at launch. 3 million by Jan 1st.seriously, there should be enough to go around. just dont get in MY way
11/14/2006 1:41:54 PM
My roommate's picking one up at midnight at the Nintendo store, yay.[Edited on November 14, 2006 at 1:49 PM. Reason : on saturday]
11/14/2006 1:49:18 PM
i am going to call around some local stores to find out the deal on the Wii release...whether they are opening normal hours, special hours, ticket process, or what...i've gotta get my hands on a wii and zelda
11/14/2006 3:51:14 PM
^^ Nintendo Store is not doing midnight sale. Neither is Toy's R Us. I'll get there about five a.m., I guess.
11/14/2006 5:14:21 PM
I played Excite Truck today.FUN. AS. SHIT.
11/14/2006 5:37:31 PM
Other message boards and stuff suggest getting in line 4-5ish that Saturday at WalMart or wherever. I really don't see the point though...if each WalMart gets 20 units, and there's like 10 WalMarts in Raleigh...we should be able to get one np that night...right??
11/14/2006 7:19:21 PM
I keep thinking to myself "No console has ever sold out a million units at launch", then I remember Zelda: TP.
11/14/2006 7:27:06 PM
I get a review at work soon, if it comes with a raise, then a Wii will be in my living room.
11/14/2006 7:35:46 PM
yeah the reason i want the system the day it comes out is so that i can play zelda... i can't wait to play that game..hopefully i can get one...but i refuse to wait in line/camp out more than 2 hours early
11/14/2006 8:32:28 PM
^Same here, I think I'm going to hit up Target about 6:30-7:00 on Sunday morning and see if I can grab one. As much as I love some Zelda, I'm not spending the night sleeping in front of Target/Best Buy.
11/14/2006 8:39:45 PM
My situation is unsettling. I'm guaranteed Zelda, but not guaranteed a Wii.
11/14/2006 8:56:06 PM
The Wii (Target) locator:http://wii.clambert.org/I wish they had one of these things for WalMart.
11/14/2006 9:11:17 PM
OK, I emailed Nintendo to bitch about component cables being online-only awhile back. Today I received a response saying that component cables are available over the phone a few days early AND they cost $30, not $50.[Edited on November 15, 2006 at 12:32 AM. Reason : ]
11/15/2006 12:19:23 AM
I honestly think Nintendo has been bending over backwards to help the customer as much as possible.
11/15/2006 12:23:23 AM
I still cant figure out how they can charge 250$
11/15/2006 12:39:54 AM
Because $250 sounds like a steal compared to $600 and $400.
11/15/2006 1:14:43 AM
11/15/2006 1:20:26 AM
I don't know much about the cables required to hook it up to a TV, but I assume that it comes with the standard connection cables (IE the AV cables).
