out of that list who would you rather have? I like what Gillespie has does with A&M. He seems to have turned that program around.. not sure how old he is. I like Crean and i think he's still fairly young but we'd have to fork over alot of money.
4/5/2006 10:28:49 AM
^^the fans ran him out of town too [Edited on April 5, 2006 at 10:29 AM. Reason : d]
4/5/2006 10:29:03 AM
If we are really out of the Barnes race thenTubby then Tom CreanCrean is an excellent coach although no one talks about him.
4/5/2006 10:30:40 AM
Kentucky fans want Tubby out just as much as we wanted Herb out. I am not really sure as to why but my guess would be because they havn't made the final four since 98 and they had a horrible year with alot of talent this year. I like Tubby, but would like to know if their are any other reasons for them wanting him gone.
4/5/2006 10:32:12 AM
Most of the media is saying to expect a press conference sometime today confirming Barnes staying in Texas, and his pay raise
4/5/2006 10:32:49 AM
we don't need to keep saying it in 12 different threadsBarnes is definitely out, so move on
4/5/2006 10:33:38 AM
4/5/2006 10:33:53 AM
i don't give a shit what any of these web runs say. nobody is out of the question as of now. nobody is gonna admit publicly that they are seriously considering taking another position, because if they end up not...it will screw them with their own fanbase. these articles mean shit, and they are just as worthless as predicitions being made on this very message board.
4/5/2006 10:34:37 AM
we need motherfuckin falco n' shit

^^rock me amadeus?
4/5/2006 10:37:03 AM
Well i don't to a whole lot about these coaches I'd prob go 1.Bill Gillispie - Texas A&M, Tom Crean - Marquette 2.Mark Turgeon - Wichita State3.Dana Altman - Creighton (how long has he been there?) 12 years4.Gregg Marshall - Winthrop i just don't think these guys will be able to Recruit atleast not right away[Edited on April 5, 2006 at 10:55 AM. 4/5/2006 10:37:22 AM
so why would you go in that order?is that the order you've been reading on message boards
4/5/2006 10:39:11 AM
fuck itlets get turgeon and get this over with
4/5/2006 10:40:16 AM
4/5/2006 10:40:50 AM
Is Tubby known as a good recruiter? I bet the name Kentucky is good enough for most recruits. I wonder how he would do at another school.
4/5/2006 10:42:32 AM
honestly, well probably have someone awesome say something promising, then theyll ditch out on us last second and well end up with haith.
4/5/2006 10:43:01 AM
4/5/2006 10:43:15 AM
anyone read the post on packpride about barnes history with job offersit was pretty interesting and promising
4/5/2006 10:47:15 AM
If there is anything I have learned during my tenure over the last 20 years as a State fan is that we have not been the best at getting decent coaches. I don't have my hopes up.
4/5/2006 10:48:16 AM
^^^ but you said you don't know much about the coaches you namedso why that order?[Edited on April 5, 2006 at 10:48 AM. Reason : ^]

^^becasue from the info picked up in the last day or 2 thats how i order them you just dont get to see those teams play as much as Texas, Memphis, and Nova.[Edited on April 5, 2006 at 10:51 AM. Reason : d]
4/5/2006 10:51:35 AM
I sincerely hope that Haith is much further down the list than the media has been indicating.
4/5/2006 10:52:31 AM
ok, so you made your list from what other people are saying....that's a good way to live your life, pal
4/5/2006 10:52:47 AM
basicallyhe has a history of telling the media he's happy with the job he has while making secret late-night meetings with ADs and presidentshttp://mb17.scout.com/fnorthcarolinastatefrm1.showMessage?topicID=55924.topic[Edited on April 5, 2006 at 10:55 AM. Reason : ]

If a large part of his renegociation involves more pay for his assistant coaches then it leads me to believe that he's staying in Texas(ala the Beamer situation from years past).
4/5/2006 10:55:22 AM
if calipari, barnes, wright, and montgomery all are out, then i think the next best option is Bill Gillispie. he is a solid recruiter and was key in getting dee brown and deron williams at illinois when he was an assistant.
4/5/2006 11:02:40 AM
4/5/2006 11:14:17 AM
can someone post the scout.com insider article on Biedenbach's reaction to Herb leaving??

inside word on street..barnes is 95% decided on coming.NCSU offered a little over $2.1mill...

Fowler is keeping things tight-lipped. I actually like that we're not out there officially saying who we want and offering right away. It takes much of the speculation out when it's that open and it takes the fun away. We're not going to know anything until there is a press conference. We're just not....
4/5/2006 11:23:42 AM
folwer knows its barnes or bust for his ass
4/5/2006 11:25:14 AM
everyone already knows how secretive barnes is...there no chance in hell he'd let anything get to the media before anythings final...but i heard ncsu is looking mightttttyy fine...
4/5/2006 11:26:37 AM
We'll probably get Larry Krystowiak from Montana.
4/5/2006 11:26:50 AM
KEV.....what are your sources..cause I dont believe you
4/5/2006 11:29:13 AM
4/5/2006 11:29:15 AM
I don't see how you can say the majority wanted him gone.On this board the Herb Haters were just more outspoken but it seemed as Herb still had more support than not. If we can find a good coach then ok, but what if we are stuck with Frank Haith? Was it worth running Herb off? The NCAA 2nd round is better than making the NIT.
4/5/2006 11:32:34 AM
Lee Fowler is very well connected in the college basketball community
4/5/2006 11:32:44 AM
^^Herb apologists are just as fucking outspokenLIES are what you are propogating here....EVERYONE was disappointed with this season, realized that it has been a DECADE under herb, see no light at the end of the tunnel as far as this rinky dink offense goes, is unhappy with herbs intensity/commitment to our major rivals, and realize that we were set up to take major lumps next year7/10 pack fans I have talked to say this "herb was good for the program, but I am happy he is gone, and excited as hell for the future"
4/5/2006 11:35:12 AM
^ i agreeHerb was good for us, he helped us rebuild...but I feel like he was at the end of his road and now that he is gone we have a chance to see if we can continue to build our program and become National Champions again...or at least ACC champions for a start.
