Thanks guys. ^ The photos were shot at 800 ISO so that helped immensely with the noise.^^^^ Ambrosia, what camera do you have?
6/21/2006 4:00:21 AM
Some shots from yesterday. I had my 30D and 24-70, as well as a 580ex and sync cord to play with. I have almost no experience with a flash, but I had fun playing with it. Luckily I have friends that weren't weirded out by me taking random photos of them.

yeah, not to turn this into a debate, but i doubt pirating would stop in any significant capacity unless prices were cut so low that the profit margin became unacceptable
6/21/2006 11:54:15 AM
some more lightning from the other night
6/21/2006 1:03:48 PM
Good stuff dude. Where were they taken from?
6/21/2006 1:05:05 PM
how do you catch those? i mean, you obviously don't sit at a window hope you snap the picture at the same moment the lightning flashes...do you just set your camera to keep taking shots at specified intervals until it fills up the card? i can do that with my camera, but i don't know how, yet
6/21/2006 1:06:45 PM
Long exposure.Put camera on tripod, set focus to infinity, and let her rip.I'm assuming that is how he did it. Either that or he has impeccable timing.[Edited on June 21, 2006 at 1:08 PM. Reason : .]
6/21/2006 1:08:04 PM
set focus to infinity? again, i don't have a dslr , but i do have both manual and auto focus modes
6/21/2006 1:09:55 PM

6/21/2006 1:11:15 PM

6/21/2006 1:20:35 PM
Ronny, I love that third one.
6/21/2006 2:22:35 PM
What kind of maintenance/upkeep should be done on a DSLR...whether regularly or periodically?
6/21/2006 7:16:26 PM
I try to clean the exterior of the camera/lenses every day that I use it. I sometimes get people at the club spilling drinks on it too.I need to send it to get cleaned though; there is too much sensor dust.
6/21/2006 7:22:59 PM
I just ordered this camera for my trip to China:I hope it works well for a compact camera
6/21/2006 7:30:40 PM

6/21/2006 9:17:10 PM
Ricoh makes the Caplio R4 - the all-in-one printer/fax/scanner/etc machine in our office is made by them. mckoonts convinced me to get it.From what I've read, the R4 came out in England and hasn't really made it over here yet.^Yeah, I commented on the lens assembly too.
6/22/2006 1:03:36 AM
Ricoh was a pretty good company way back in the day... no clue how they are now.
6/22/2006 9:08:01 AM

^holy cow that last one is cool....and haha shout out on the aim list. the texturegasm and books are pretty cool too. the books have an old school feel. i think it's the bookcase. maybe it's just the books themselves, and the pic. idk. ]

i´vé béén taking somé night shots off of my friend´s apartment building rooftop here in buenos aires, but somehow i feel like the mirror is causing the extra long exposures to become blurry, because the camera is stationary on the building... is that super common? i dont have experience with "locking up" the mirror. thanks!also: great that more people are now contributing, great shots on this page and the last.docido: i didnt catch those shots for some reason, théy arén´t loading on this internet cafe computer, i´ll have to check ém out later-!ZiP!-
6/23/2006 10:53:22 AM
its possible. then again the mirror doesn't slap for very long...
6/23/2006 12:52:47 PM
I've got a question about getting a new fast prime lens for some low light / portrait stuff, here are two of my choices:EF 50mm f/1.8 II is only $80, cheap price for a fast 50mm lens, no USM though so its slow to focusEF 50mm f/1.4 USM is $290, is it really worth it over the f/1.8?Also, I know they make this lens:EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM, its $385Exactly what advantage does this Macro lens have over the the two above? is it just the very small minimum focal length?
6/23/2006 12:54:50 PM
I'm loving the pix, but reading this thread makes me aware that I don't know shit about photography
6/23/2006 1:00:35 PM
^^ I have the 1.8 and I love it. Its a cheap build and I've heard of defective instances but everyone who has one can live with it over the 1.4. With that said, I know some people that live by the 1.4. If I had the money and inclination i'd get the 1.4 but I dont need it. I think the 1.8to1.4 does let in a good deal more light.
