its so obvious that the reason the plane crashed, and the other planes, is because of the bunkers magnet that drew the key. The magnet screws with the compass and guidance and stuff liek that to make them crash.During testing of the atom bomb in the marshall islands, there were recorded instances (castle bravo was one) that the radiation spread so far that scientists were trapped in underground bunkers and listening stations for long periods of time before they could be rescued. now, i think that the "timer" must be reset to avoid another disaster that may be set off by an old computer system that cannot be shut down. so, the cover up faction needs someone to reset it manually over time - someone who is very healthy - and have convinced desmond that the world is gone by holocaust or something. Placed him in the hole under false pretense, he is the one that is left with the burden.hurleys insane friend went crazy because he had to repeat the numbers over and over again, and hence the empty bunk and the crazy hospital. the number is also the "VIN" code of the location.the flight from australia to the US is always flown over the marshall islands today.

I missed the last 2 episodes. What is the deal w/ this desmond guy? I know he's in the bunker and all, but that's about it. Can anyone explain? I'm gonna watch tonight, but I dont' want to be completely in the dark about stuff.

another possible reason for the defined 108 countdowndon't power plants have to release the valves to dump out the steam every so often or they blow?(see the simpsons episode where homer gets fat to work from home)hehwouldn't it be great that once everything was explained it would be a case of "SIMPSONS DID IT!"

^^^^Desmond is the guy from the stadium that told Jack to believe in miracles, etc., before Sara found out she wasn't paralyzed. Then of course Jack and Sara got married and we don't know what happened after that except that now they are no longer together. I think that Desmond may have something to do with why they are not together anymore.[Edited on October 5, 2005 at 12:12 PM. Reason : adf]

haha that was the last timei once said i had 'chin' splints and got about 20 posts worth of comments, so i figured i needed to give you a couple of posts worth of ribbing for it.but yea i dont think the counter has to be some sort of safety against letting people into the bunker or off the island or something. my theory for the zero event is either the bunker doors opening or some sort of explosion

I still have no idea how the back half of the plane just snapped off. The magnetic field does not account for that at all.By aerodynamic forces alone, it is completely impossible to snap a plane like that. The wings and tail will stall well before the plane would ever see those kinds of forces.http://www.laurencescholte.com/flying/videos.htmlhttp://www.laurencescholte.com/flying/MD-80hardlanding.mpgThat's what's required to snap a plane in half. A hard landing a 1000 feet/min descent rate. That's the main thing that's pissed me off about this show. All the unanswered questions, mystical events, strange shit ... that's cool. The answers will all come out eventually, but they will never fully explain how a plane snaps in half in midair.
10/5/2005 7:18:24 PM
godzilla took both ends in his hands and went SNAP
10/5/2005 7:25:03 PM
What if the plane was not structurally sound before it took off? Could some kind of damage increase a plane's chances of breaking in half like that?If so, they could just explain it away by saying the plane was not inspected properly before takeoff.

wonder where the other 5 stations are?
10/5/2005 9:30:02 PM
maybe the creatures of the island escape and inhabit earth if they dont hit the button.
10/5/2005 9:30:17 PM
well b/c of the "incident" the code now has to be entered every 108 minutes according to protocol. what in the world could have happened that requires this nonsense?
10/5/2005 9:30:27 PM
the incident may have something to do with the french woman and her crew coming to the island and screwing things up
10/5/2005 9:31:05 PM
the station is the psychology/sociology experiment
10/5/2005 9:31:29 PM
I doubt that the computer controls anything important. The guy has probably been tricked into staying down there for some simple experiment or something. The guy on the tape didn't make it seem like the fate of the world was endanger. I bet Desmond freaks out when/if he finds out that it was nothing important.
