^^^^^ that is sooooo awesome!!!!!!!! (joie and cody's costume!)LADIES....what exercises do you do to firm your butt? stair stepper? or what? i need help. i am starting to work out again after being a fatass for a year and going back through pictures to see what i looked like at my first goal weight (which is 10lbs lighter than i am now) and my end goal weight (about 20-25lbs lighter than i am now...eek can't believe i've gotten so disgusting) my ass and thighs are always huge. like...i guess i am just bottom heavy.ok ignore the ugliness of this outfit i was forced to wear it for a fashion show thing and i and the outfit looked hideous. but this is to demonstrate my weight proportions...i think these jeans were like a 26 petite denim (joe's) or maybe a 25, i can't remember...def in that neighborhood though. aaand i probably weighed in the neighborhood of what, 123? 125? here i'm probably ~120 and sitting down, but hopefully you can see where my ass/hips/thighs are the widest part of my bodythese are for sure size 26 jeans and its still like thigh/hip cityso anyway, i am fat now (even though i look fat in these pics, i assure you i weigh < 125 in all of them; probably in the neighborhood of 120), but looking back, even at the weights i'd like to be, my thighs and butt have always been where the weight has been carried. so what are your exercises?? clearly they will never really shrink but at least i can tone them really well so they are muscly butt and thighs instead of meaty. i have the EXACT same problem.it is absolutely ridiculous how bottom heavy i am. lunges and squats are my friend. and incline walking/star climber are nice too )[Edited on March 7, 2011 at 10:24 PM. Reason : ps you are NOT big by any means! ]
3/7/2011 10:23:56 PM
ohhh thankssss!!! squats and lunges good call. with weights?haha....if my butt is going to be perpetually big i at least want it to be a firm butt. and just running isn't cutting it thus far!!!
3/7/2011 10:29:38 PM
Definitely lunges and squats. Goblets squats are a girl's best friend!
3/7/2011 10:31:03 PM
I was about to suggest squats also! (make SURE you have proper form if you do it free weight style) you'll get stronger no matter what, but of course if it's not combined with weight loss you will look the same.plus I'd say just learn to live with it ... maybe even like it! I'm a 38-31-42 and I think it looks great!!!
3/7/2011 10:33:21 PM
3/7/2011 10:34:36 PM
yes, def!i just need to lose weight anyway in general...but i know those areas are going to stay big (relative to the rest of me) no matter what haha..cause they've always been that wayi just want them to be firm like kim kardashian style instead of flabby. then at least i can be like look at my muscular big buttinstead of...look at my flabby big butt?!?
3/7/2011 10:38:07 PM
Seriously, appreciate having an ass. Some of us can't build one even after tons of lunges and squats... I think I made mine smaller in a way (from I guess tightening up?)
3/7/2011 10:39:40 PM
i love how i am talking about this while i eat a valentine's funsize pack of m&m minis in my bedi am so disgusting but it was just one little package! loli have issues. my running shoes and i are about to become bff again after a hiatus since like, nov :/ not looking forward to it, but want to wear a 2 piece this summer without feeling self conscious. so...that is my goal haha. regardless of weight i want to wear a 2 piece and feel good about myself!oh and other goal is to run another 1/2 in the fall and do it in or under 2:30. fitness goal and body image goal. i am trying not to make them too big. usually when i do that i end up failing majorly.[Edited on March 7, 2011 at 10:48 PM. squats, as already mentioned. But if you have experience doing them, or can work up leg strength without weights first, transition to doing them with weights. I do them in the actually squat rack at the gym. You HAVE to do this with proper form, preferably with a spotter, especially when you add more weights. But this is a guaranteed way to get a firmer bootay!

So for my bridesmaids gift I'm considering giving them a necklace and earring set that are the accent color for my wedding. Im also considering actually making them. Any suggestions on where to get materials? Outside of the obvious micheals or ac Moore.

ornamentea! they have really cool stuff there. imo, anyway haha. but a regular craft store would work too. they just sometimes have unique things at ornamenta. http://www.ornamentea.com/
3/8/2011 6:34:40 PM
Thanks!!! Is that a silly idea though? Should I go for a more traditional gift?
3/8/2011 6:41:35 PM
imo...no! i think its really cool and much more meaningful!
3/8/2011 6:53:01 PM

Kat come run with me. I run a few days a week out at Lake Johnson including Saturdays (my goal is to mKe it twice around the lake).

spinning really helped me with toning my butt and thighs. Lunges and squats obviously are great but they aren't very sustainable because, face it, they aren't fun at all. Instead, try outdoor cycling and incorporate some hills (those tend to work your quads and "power muscles" a lot more). Take up spinning and make sure you have an instructor that gets you out of the saddle. I've also taken up rock climbing which surprisingly uses a lot of those squat and lunge muscles but is a million times more fun. good luck>

I, too, have a large ass and it has recently gotten larger. In highschool I took weight lifting and had to do a lot of squats. However, that only made my ass larger. I guess it is better to have a fat ass rather than a fat belly, but it is annoying.
3/8/2011 8:08:28 PM
i think thats why spinning is so effective. not only does it tone, but it burns calories like hell. i was able to see results in 2 months.

I can't believe you guys are planning halloween already!! anyways I need help! for my new job I've been planning an event in NYC, it's my first big fundraiser event. a little bit about it: It's a jazz concert to raise money for one of our NYC programs and it's being held at the Forbes Galleries, and I'm having such a hard time finding something to wear. Since I'm going to be meeting/socializing with folks who will be cutting us big checks and have paid lots of money to come, I feel like I can't just wear something I bought at kohl's I like this from macy's:but I'm afraid it might be too plain ?I"m so worried of looking out of place[Edited on March 8, 2011 at 9:28 PM. i think it looks really simple and classy. and you can always make it exciting with a bright pair of pumps, as i realized when looking for shoes to go with a similar dress
3/8/2011 9:34:38 PM
3/8/2011 9:57:58 PM
Minkagrl01, that dress is classy but you can do sooooo much better. I'd wear that dress to a bar ... why not go with something more exciting! I would definitely glam it up!!! I have several dresses that are too formal/cocktail for 99% of my life ... but would be perfect for a fancy fundraising gala! I'm so jealous! take this opportunity to wear something nice! you probably have something in your closet that you haven't looked at in a while. ]

1- Linda- I am not [really] post stalking you.....2- Minkagirl- GO TO REVOLVER. That is the perfect place for you to find something high dollar, high quality, and unique. I've scored some super hawt dresses from there from various designers- all for less than $100.... Handle that. And have fun in NYC- that sounds like a great time! Wear a dress that will make you stand out and make NC look good!

I'm giving necklaces to my bridesmaids too I got them done by the same person who made my hair piece. Here's pics of them:

I gave my bridesmaids Swarovski necklaces.I got married in Vegas so I didn't want to give them something that they would have to lug back home.I gave them the necklaces at my bridal luncheon and they all wore the necklaces at the wedding. They all were some variation of a heart.

Looks kinda like the cording you can get done at Busch Gardens.
3/10/2011 7:10:53 PM
guess they are similar but they can be curled and flat ironed.in love love love with them. going to try to get some feathers to try it out.
3/10/2011 7:25:49 PM
wpgrrr- are you talking about the ones that are like friendship bracelets for your hair? I always wanted to do those growing up. I think I might get that done with Maya next time we go to Disney. My little one would eat that up as much as her mama would.
3/10/2011 8:37:09 PM
GoldenGirl my best friend told me about this a few months ago! Her hair salon in Wilmington offers it and it looks so cool. Take pictures if you get it done. What color are you thinking of doing?
3/10/2011 9:11:26 PM
i, too, am highly interested in this! lemme see!
3/10/2011 9:29:18 PM
^^^ Yes! I was never allowed to get it because it was expensive
3/10/2011 9:46:52 PM
aww...it was really easy to do! i remember walking around middle school with partially finished strings hanging from my hair that my friend and I would work on during lunch [Edited on March 10, 2011 at 10:01 PM. Reason : damn auto link]
3/10/2011 10:00:54 PM
Haha, my friends back in middle school would make what seemed like mad cash at the time hanging out at the marina and doing that stuff to the tourists.
3/10/2011 11:55:28 PM
oh super excited just ordered them. should get in next week. I'm going to diy. otherwise a friend who got them done by her friend said she normally charges $20.00 a single extension. DIY feathers aren't as cheap as you think around $1.00 a feather.
3/11/2011 12:04:57 AM
punchmonk It's super easy! Mom used to wrap my hair all the time. Just have to get embroidery thread and beads if you want them.
3/11/2011 10:19:15 AM
I would try doing it myself if I weren't afraid of messing up Maya's and my hair. I need a step by step tutorial, I guess.
