Would anyone be in favor of firing Lowe before the season ends?Would anyone be in favor of giving Lowe a contract extension before the season ends?[Edited on December 29, 2010 at 10:25 PM. Reason : ^well lets see who says yes to either of these hypothetical questions]
12/29/2010 10:24:58 PM
Neither of those are even remotely good ideas, and no one is going to say yes to either except maybe rally.
12/29/2010 10:26:35 PM
^^Don't think anyone is willing to go that far. Can't think of many circumstances where that does anything positive for a program. I'm willing to give Lowe another year...I'm not even saying he should be fired. My point is that I've just seen nothing to indicate we're turning things around other than recruiting rankings.I certainly wouldn't give him a contract extension[Edited on December 29, 2010 at 10:27 PM. 12/29/2010 10:26:45 PM
I don't think anyone actually wants him fired tomorrow. It's that people are already putting a wrap on the season, not letting it play out, not giving him a full year with his guys before making their decision. These guys have made up their minds without giving him a full shot.
12/29/2010 10:26:49 PM
honestly, lets say we get Smith back 100% before conference play, and start 0-12 in conference playi could see him being fired theni just don't see that happening]
12/29/2010 10:27:48 PM
Not saying I think this should happen, but with a new AD probably wanting to bring in "her guy" and Lowe being in year 5, I think Lowe will get canned if he doesn't make the tournament. I think Lowe knows this, too.Edit: As do most of youDefinitely not mid-season, though. [Edited on December 29, 2010 at 10:32 PM. Reason : ]

I would keep him for the whole season regardless of the results...we're just going to look like assholes if we don't wait until the season is over to fire him...plus firing him during the season leaves a longer window for other coaches to poach our recruits.
12/29/2010 10:31:23 PM
I wonder who Yow's guy isWellman's was BzdldlekzldkThat's going well
12/29/2010 10:32:01 PM
ive got a better questiondoes anyone really think if we make the ncaa tournament (and even go on a run of some sort in it) with our current talent that it will be a sign of sustainable program improvement that lowe can continue?or would it mean that we would just have a really shitty version of paul hewitt?

^^^It depends on if we make the tournament by actually playing well during the regular season, or get lucky and win the ACC tournament as the 10th seed.[Edited on December 29, 2010 at 10:35 PM. Reason : .]

what if we win the ACC tournament as a 12 seed and make the Final Fourwhat if we win the ACC regular season, get beat by 40 in the first round of the ACCs, and lose by 30 to a 14 seed in the opening round

i gotta be honestim going to be pissed if we end up with gregg marshall. id rather dick around with lowe for another 2 years to wait for better options than settle for himthough i guess you could argue that we've already chosen that option for the last 5 years
12/29/2010 10:36:54 PM
Let's hear some names of coaches you guys want and we actually have a chance at landingRick Barnes is not an option

Valvano got lucky and won an ACC tournament and an NCAA tournamentShould have fired him the year
12/29/2010 10:40:58 PM
mccauley also had decent basketball talent that could be utilized by most basketball teams. iirc he was recruited by pittpart of coaching is taking parts that don't necessarily fit perfectly and making them fit as well as they can. horner was a really shitty player outside of herb's scheme. the rest...

This is all JJ Hickson's fault

Really it's Lee Fowler's fault, and he was finally held accountable.

Jesus Christ, you people are dense
12/29/2010 10:51:31 PM
I realize you were tongue in cheek, ernieWasn't the NCAA tournament fewer teams when Valvano made it, too? That's why I never put much stock into the "Herb first coach in NCSU history with 5 straight" argument. Someone on here was arguing he was obviously better than V and Sloan because of thatEdit: 1985 was when it was expanded to 64...so at least part of his time here there were only 48 teams[Edited on December 29, 2010 at 10:56 PM. im pretty sure everyone "defending" lowe at this point is either trolling or half heartedly making up bsthe only posts i dont reply to anymore are by rally's worst alias yet. if he busts mamba back out ill respond to that shit eventhough it's not really serious either

I'm definitely trolling. Rationality has gone the way of the dodo.[Edited on December 29, 2010 at 10:57 PM. Reason : Fuckin ipad]

Off topic, but I wish I actually found out who Mamba was. The IP was pretty unique and where it said it was from. I personally thought it was part of the hcnguyen chain, but I never found out...[Edited on December 29, 2010 at 10:57 PM. Surprised no one has ripped my list apart yet I know college BBall decently well, but not like I follow college football. I honestly don't know all there is to know about these coaches, just a list of 'up-and-comers' at smaller schools that I think we'd have a good shot at most/all of them. I honestly couldn't tell you what offenses they run, etc and many of you are probably more familiar. If we have to find a new coach, I just want one that has a decent non-princeton variant offense and that stresses the hell out of defense and toughness (See: Tom Izzo / Kryzooski style of play)That list obviously isn't a wish list for me. I'd like to have Mark Turgeon or Mike Anderson, but those aren't going to happen (Not in the "ridiculos to ask" category, but neither will leave)[Edited on December 29, 2010 at 11:03 PM. Reason : ]

NOBODY on the court wanted to win more than McCauley, I don't see how that's disputable.[Edited on December 30, 2010 at 1:03 AM. Reason : ^^Nope same shit we heard in 2009, 2010, and in 2 days 2011]

yeah, Hodge didn't want to win at all...he was pretty calm and reserved usually...didn't let his emotions show at all...and didn't prove that by singlehandedly leading us to our best season in the last 10 years or anythingnope...McCauley wanted to win more than anybody...not even disputablei'm not trying to hate on McCauley either...I liked him as a player...just don't know why you're acting like Hodge didn't have as much heart as anyone[Edited on December 30, 2010 at 1:11 AM.
