I tried Hello and couldn't get used to the tabs. I use 8sms and it works great. I still have random problems getting MMS messages for various people. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Anyone that has an N5 that is willing, posting your MMS settings por favor. I want to compare mine.

Yeah my go-to team is Rocketeer and Bombardier, each attacking over 3.1k, and I switch between Recon (1700) and Engineer(2000)...trying to work Assault (2000) in more. Also trying to develop Scientist (528 ) to where he earns more XP for the other guys. Haven't really used Saboteur much, though I might for the Ruin ability. Would be particularly helpful on the boss levels. [Edited on June 5, 2014 at 4:32 PM. Reason : pretty much just waiting on an update now ]

I got 4.4.3 on my Moto X before my Nexus 7.
6/7/2014 7:36:18 AM
I now really, really wish that I hadn't installed the latest OTA update from Verizon on my Droid MAXX. I am increasingly seeing that my data is dropping back down to 3G (I even saw 1X today for the first time), and my network traffic connectivity both up and down is extremely inconsistent. Even my GPS signal has been lost a few times. Whatever they think they fixed or were trying to fix, I think they screwed up the radio even worse.
6/8/2014 1:44:49 AM
^I also wish I hadn't installed the update although the data drops haven't been as bad or frequent as yours apparentlyHopefully we'll get 4.4.3 relatively soon

I'm using blackberry, which is AWESOME, especially since I can run all my android apps natively. The problem is, the blackberry software doesn't backup any of the android VM content. Any recommendations on a free app to backup the content? I used titanium backup in the past.

Swiftkey is free in the Play Store
6/11/2014 5:51:09 AM
^ i wonder if that's a permanent thing...their website says "All the great features that defined SwiftKey Keyboard as Android's #1 best-selling paid app, now for free!", so perhaps it is
6/11/2014 8:10:25 AM
Att HTC one m7 got 4.4.3 in the past few days, manually ran the update check and got it last night. A few nice improvements but everything on the home screen seems shifted a bit with an extra gap at the bottom now.
6/11/2014 9:04:39 AM
^^Not sure. I previously had it installed through the Amazon store and got some email yesterday about the new Swiftkey store where you can buy new keyboard themes, of which I had 10 for free for being a long-time user. So maybe they're going to keep it free and try to monetize the add-on themes instead of the app itself. I like some of the new themes that don't really show the outline of keys, but I can't bring myself to use one since they don't show the Shift/long-press characters for each key like most of the other themes do.

I use the dialer pretty infrequently so I'm completely oblivious to why it sucks. What major issues do you have?
6/11/2014 2:38:32 PM
I just don't like the layout. I don't like having to hit the call history button every time I need to see a missed call. I feel like that should be the default screen, not favorite contacts. I miss my S4. I never thought I would like Touchwiz better than stock Android but I guess I am just too used to it. WiFi and LTE still sucks asscrack on the N5. I am not really thrilled with this phone in general.
6/11/2014 2:49:25 PM
Booyah! Droid MAXX 4.4 rooted! Took me over 6 hours of trying to decipher instructions in about 6 different threads on XDADevelopers, but I got it done. This was a hell of a lot more work than rooting any of my previous phones. But now I can once again give Verizon both middle fingers and wifi tether with my unlimited data. (And those godawful ads in the WRAL app are long gone.)

dirty flashed from 4.4.2 to latest 4.4.3 CyanogenMod nightly yesterday with zero issues thus far after hearing others have the same success[Edited on June 14, 2014 at 10:40 AM. Reason : Nexus 5]

^ what's the benefit of rom'ing when you're already running vanilla Android? I'm sure there is some, I'm just not much of a rom-er.
6/14/2014 11:31:47 AM
4.4.3 bricked one of our phones. Thanks assholes
6/14/2014 6:47:07 PM
^^ Cyanogenmod is waay better than vanilla Android. I absolutely love CM11
6/14/2014 9:57:50 PM
Why's it better?]
6/14/2014 10:55:08 PM
I use it for blacklisting, privacy guard, and whisperpush - mostly the security features^^^ which phone? Not only have I still not experienced a single problem yet, but it's obviously better than before. Sorry to hear your experience didn't go well.[Edited on June 15, 2014 at 4:51 PM. Reason : f]

I've never messed with Cyanogen before, but I hear great things about it. Come to think of it, I've never seen it running on anyone's phone before so I don't have a basis for comparison.Oh, hey, is there a way to disable OTA updates, or make them manual only? I want to prevent my phone from trying to get 4.4.3 before I am certain that it's not going to screw up my root.[Edited on June 15, 2014 at 7:08 PM. Reason : OTA]
6/15/2014 7:07:47 PM
if you freeze a specific process or two with titanium backup, you can prevent it. don't remember what they are offhand though

So this just went on sale today,http://oppostyle.com/find-7/85-find-7-white-us-version.htmlSpec wise, it's basically the best Android phone available today. Would like to read a review from a reputable site, but it looks like the best choice for buying an unsubsidized top-end phone.
6/18/2014 11:55:38 AM
A buddy of mine has a monster boner for his Oppo Find 5. Says they're still releasing fixes/updates for it and Oppo is a good company etc. I guess they have forums where company reps regularly participate.]
6/18/2014 11:58:40 AM
Doesn't appear to be water proof.
6/18/2014 12:15:13 PM
Yeah I'm not sure it's clearly the "best" Android phone out. Build quality-wise, probably.
6/18/2014 12:48:44 PM
any opinions on the best s5 case for a public transportation commuter. don't want to go full otter, but it needs durability
6/19/2014 6:11:02 PM
the medium strength Otterbox might work well. More flexible than the Defender but good protection.
6/19/2014 6:31:03 PM
is that the commuter series? would make sense
6/19/2014 7:04:38 PM
I think so. I'd just go into a Verizon store and start opening boxes and feel what feels right.[Edited on June 19, 2014 at 7:25 PM. Reason : even if you're not a Verizon customer ]
6/19/2014 7:24:46 PM
I got an OBD 2 reader of amazon that supposedly works with Android. About to try it out.
6/19/2014 7:30:13 PM
Thoughts on Amazon's new Fire Phone? Some of the 3d recognition stuff sounds cool, but it doesn't come with Google Play Store (doesn't support Google Play Store, just Amazon App Store?) and seems like it is integrated into Amazon as much as iOS devices are with iTunes. Same cost as other high end Android phones. I doubt it will be as successful as they hope except maybe with people who care about seamless integration with their Kindle.
6/19/2014 8:58:46 PM
3d effect is neat I guess. What would be much cooler, more related to Amazon's services, and probably not too much more expensive, would be a phone that has more of a dedicated reading bend.So since the back of the phone is gorilla glass anyway, instead of just having it be plain black with a logo, it could be an e-ink screen. That could be used both to allow easy customization of your phone's appearance, but would also be fantastic for low power reading. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
