^We got a JUCO DE and JUCO CB. We have another JUCO DE visiting this week apparently. We still have some big fish on the line, so it'll be interesting to see how many make it to the game tomorrow night. Not saying we'll win but the atmosphere SHOULD be electric, at least early. I know we have a 2019 5* RB coming, but would really like to see some group of McNeil, Davis, Gwyn, and Wilson in attendance. Would love to flip Wilson from UNC.

JUCO DE Joe Babros committed today

https://scout.com/college/football/recruiting/Article/Gotay-to-Take-a-Wait-And-See-Approach-74913458I know this guy's dad. He says he's going to come here to be closer to him if he can start as a Freshman.
10/9/2017 9:34:29 AM
^I wouldn't bank on guaranteed starting time as a FR at this point, esp at LB when we only play 2. That's one nice thing about the status of our program right now, we don't HAVE to start young guys but we can give them the chance to EARN a starting job early. Also he has the size that we could move him, like we've done in the past, and move him to our NB position as we'll need to replace Boone.
10/9/2017 10:22:43 AM
This may be overly optimistic but I don't think the coaches will be in a position where they need to give into demands of a 3*If Gilyard and artis commit elsewhere and we can't flip Wilson, then maybe Gotays demands will be heard
10/9/2017 10:56:07 AM
Nicholson is apparently done with football, curious if that means we take an extra LB now
10/9/2017 12:23:45 PM
3/4* LB Eriq Gilyard chooses bw State and UCF on 10/22
10/9/2017 9:24:35 PM
^Worth noting we were his only OV. Feels like we're going to start filling up at positions and only hold a few spots open for our "big fish". Also get the vibe the whole Payton Wilson thing was overblown, so I expect we'll be taking 2 more LB commits, hopefully Gilyard and either Gotay or Artis. Though I imagine McNeil, Davis, Gwyn, and Wilson will have spots regardless of when they announce.
10/10/2017 8:41:58 AM
seems like we're in good shape with gilyard...probably based on ^.

10/11/2017 7:51:17 AM
sounds like Clemson and maybe VT are trying to flip him as well.

To me that sentence seems fine to me

Alim mcneil announces he will no longer be committing during army AA game...he will be committing within the next week. Presumably to the Pack
11/1/2017 8:04:38 PM
Saturday morning at 10AM on WRAL^
11/1/2017 11:35:16 PM
I think he's supposed to be at the Clemson game later in the day and we're supposed to have a bunch of guys on campus for visits. Wonder if Doeren encouraged him to make the announcement this weekend so he could help recruit while he's here and start the recruiting weekend off with a bang.
11/2/2017 7:57:23 AM
My head tells me he does ^ that.My gut tells me he commits to clemson and does the opposite.
11/2/2017 11:37:01 AM
nah, he's gonna pick state
11/2/2017 11:53:36 AM
^^ at no time has clemson even really been under consideration. VT, michigan, fsu...sure. not so much clemson on this one
11/2/2017 4:55:31 PM
Welcome to the Pack, Alim!
11/4/2017 10:04:51 AM
done deal, dude says he's playing baseball too!
11/4/2017 10:07:28 AM
Over Alabama. Woot!
11/4/2017 11:51:41 AM
Yeah his offer list was the who's who of college football. Clemson was in early but they fell off and haven't been in his top 3-4 for a while. His top was NCSU, VT, Michigan, and UNC. I imagine Bama would have ended up in the top 5 when he got to the Army All-American game in January just for name-value.
11/4/2017 4:21:25 PM
Welcome to the team Alim. You should be in line for some playing time with all of our seniors on the d line.
11/5/2017 7:28:32 AM
Sounds like we landed some CB in the 2020 class. Doesn't seem official, just something he posted on twitter, makes me wonder if his offer was a committable one at this point. He didn't seem to have any other offers and if we accept his commitment this early he has to be a "no-brainer" take.
11/5/2017 3:40:01 PM
It's also 2020 so even if it's a commitable offer, I would still take it with a grain of salt. So much changes over the course of 2-3 years.
11/5/2017 5:36:42 PM
Who was on campus this weekend? anyone we see pulling the trigger soon? What about the UNC LB commit that we uninvited a 4* recruit for?
11/6/2017 4:45:42 PM
Wilson and Gwynn both there, wouldn't expect to hear anything new from either anytime soon
11/6/2017 5:06:44 PM
^^we didnt uninvite artis because of wilson. Wilson likely ends up at a position other than linebacker anyways. We got wind that artis was a silent to VT and cut ties instead of wasting an OV on him
11/6/2017 5:24:52 PM
Waste an official visit? That doesn't make sense. I could see artis not wanting to waste his visit but State doesn't have an official visit limit, right? I'd be pretty pissed at the coaches if they just passed on a chance to change his mind.Besides, if Wilson was an OV (not sure) the logic doesn't even fit since Wilson is more than a silent commit.I feel like the "coach canceled his visit" is some "Roy didn't want him" presumptionJust saw the Artis tweet that did imply coaches canceled the visit so egg on my face I guess. I still think/hope the reason isnt that they gave up.... [Edited on November 6, 2017 at 5:35 PM. Reason : Uodate]
11/6/2017 5:30:47 PM
^Well we didn't actually cancel his visit, we tried to move it to the UNC game and he was pissed. I think he tweeted that it was because we "had another LB visiting". I understand why you wouldn't want 2 guys at the same position visiting and no way do you ask Wilson to come in for the UNC game. I think most knew Artis was a strong VT lean, so I think our staff prioritized Wilson over Artis. I get the "Wilson is more than a silent commit", but he's a player we recruited a lot, that committed to a rival school that is having an awful season and he reached out to our coaches to see if we still had interest in him. So he's now made an unofficial visit and an official visit, and I can't imagine he saw anything at UNC like he saw Saturday in Raleigh. If you can flip a 4* player from your state away from a rival, no reason not to go all-in on him.If we manage to land Gwyn and flip Wilson, that would be a really strong finish to the class. Problem is I doubt you see either of them commit or decide anything anytime soon.
11/7/2017 8:21:21 AM
yeah the "wilson is more than silent commit" doesn't hold water when he's actively reached out to other teams. you could say he's close to being a silent de-commit it seems.
11/7/2017 8:52:58 AM
It absolutely holds water as he has publicly committed and reaffirmed that commitment recently. Artis has done neither.Wilson may not end up at UNC but he is def more of a "commit" than Artis. I mean Artis talking to other schools too obviously.
11/7/2017 10:22:41 AM
i get that. but the staff prioritizing one guy over another - maybe because they think they've got a better shot at Wilson - isn't that crazy is it?
11/7/2017 12:21:15 PM
^^He "re-affirmed" his commitment to IC and then scheduled 2 OVs with ranked teams. That should tell you where his head is. You don't reach out to schools if you're 100% committed, but you're obviously going to tell a UNC publication that you are if they come asking. I mean IC was saying he "only visited NC State because a teammate was visiting" the first time he visited...and then he scheduled an OV and came back. IC is in denial, he might end up at UNC, but right now I'd consider him a soft verbal at best. Artis was scheduled to visit for Clemson and then got mad we wanted to reschedule him to visit for the UNC game. Screams a guy just trying to see the big-time game. No different than McNeil taking visits to see big games when he was all but a silent commit to us. Whether or not Artis is a silent commit or not, our staff clearly knew they either didn't lead or wanted Wilson more.[Edited on November 7, 2017 at 12:23 PM. Reason : .]
11/7/2017 12:23:06 PM
It just seems strange that the coaches felt that like they couldn't host 2 LBs at onceBut whatever I'll drop it
11/7/2017 1:04:42 PM
11/7/2017 1:37:19 PM
^there is? What's the limit? I couldn't find one in ncaa rules online

nice. 3* with a solid offer list...MD, Michigan St, Ark, GT, UL, UNC. sounds like it came down to us and UNC

payton wilson officially decommitted from unc today
11/22/2017 3:41:40 PM
would be a good get
11/22/2017 3:51:18 PM
definitely. he's visited state and notre dame and has been in contact with clemson and ohio st. hard to beat out those teams, but who knows
11/22/2017 3:53:15 PM
Wilson to visit State this weekend and we cancel another 3* OLB that was supposed to visit. Obviously not a done deal but clearly our staff has to like their chances.
11/23/2017 3:38:34 PM
^Read an interview with him earlier. He said his decommittment from UNC had nothing to do with football. Said basically, the culture/student body didnt align with his interests. Said NC State did. Said he loved our atmosphere. Said he loved our coaches. Liked ND but compared them to us. Said they were a highly religions school which appealed to him. Still going to visit Clempson.
11/27/2017 10:48:39 AM
So NC State is a highly religious school?
