I'm not freaking out at all. I said I was a little nervous that we don't appear to be on the radar with any 2011 recruit. You gave me a list of four names that we are longshots for, big whoop. Then named one guy that is reclassifying, that helps. And one 3* kid that we haven't even offered. My point is, it would be nice to address our needs, PG and PF/C, and do so by adding quality players, not two 3* kids ranked in the 140s, which was the case with the '08 class.

uh it's not so much the lack of commits as it is the lack of anyone being highly interestedThe damage control on PP is that it's going to be hard selling playing time to this class, which is true, but that doesn't stop some other schools in this conference. I mean I don't think anyone is expecting Lowe to pull 3 five stars out of his ass again but it'd be nice to get a Tracy Smith or a Richard Howell out of it

You made a leap in logic that I have a sky is falling mentality. I was simply talking about the possibility of what can happen if we don't land any decent talent; it'll be a shit class. The sky isn't falling it's just reality. I also wasn't wondering who we were recruiting' I can look at scout the same as anyone else and see that. If you read my post, you'll see that I asked who we had a realistic shot at landing. I know that no one can read the future; I was just trying to spark some conversation about the 2011 class which no one has really talked about. If you look up at tower's post you'll see a good response to the question I raised. You jumped all over my shit and read me a list of names from our scout page. Just stop man.

This thread would have only been like 50 pages if not for pissing matches...I'll try to keep it to a minimum it just pisses me off when I try to help someone and they start insulting me for it.

^ you speak truth. Half the time i dreaded like Hell even looking in this thread. Football recruiting has fairly remained a bastion of informational give and take.
5/3/2010 4:48:14 PM
Something tells me the biggest names you need to keep an eye on are Lawson and Daniels for 2011.
5/3/2010 11:19:16 PM
^Lawson is a bit short to play the 4, no? Maybe his measureables haven't been updated in a while. Daniels would be a solid pickup though, I suppose.[Edited on May 3, 2010 at 11:59 PM. Reason : nm, Rivals has him at 6'8]
5/3/2010 11:58:16 PM
6'8 and growing and athletic
5/4/2010 12:03:07 AM
Not that it matters, but has Ian Miller always been rated higher than Ryan Harrow? On scout Ian is listed at no. 21, while Ryan is at no. 25. I really haven't heard much about Ian, even when he goes to school in Charlotte.
5/4/2010 12:10:38 AM
Miller is good, but he ain't as good as Harrow. Rivals has him ranked about where I'd have him as the #62 player overall and #16 PG. Also the fact that Ray McCallum and Joe Jackson, a kid Harrow embarrassed when they faced off, are above Harrow is also a joke. Sadly I have to look at the Rivals list as the more accurate this year, with the exception of Leslie being behind Terrence Jones. Leslie is definitely better than Jones.[Edited on May 4, 2010 at 12:19 AM. Reason : ]
5/4/2010 12:15:40 AM
Miller is good. I wouldn't take him over Ryan but at least he lives up to the reputation of being a "winner" better than Kendall MarshallI have a bigger problem with Ryan being behind Jelan Kendrick (chemistry ? mark who seems more like a 4 star skill wise), McCallum (solid player but I think Ryan is a better PG), Joe Jackson (similar size, seems the only reason he's rated ahead of him is because he was on the scene earlier) and Deshaun Thomas (just seems like a chucker from what I saw in all star games)

i really hope we get bishop daniels. a couple years of harrow to bishop daniels would be nice, if he does nothing but dunk for four years, it will be worth it.[Edited on May 4, 2010 at 11:23 AM. Reason : .]

5/4/2010 8:08:01 PM
They will be there in a year.

looks like cothron will wind up at auburn, if he qualifies

5/5/2010 6:19:40 AM
since 2010 is winding down, let's look ahead to 2011!first off, who is leaving - Tracy, Javi, maybe Johnny (still has RS year)this gives us 3 scholarships to work with and maybe 4 if we don't pick up another guy in 2010looking at the departures, we should look for guard, a wingman, and a center with an emphasis on both pg and sgThe state of NC has moved a lot of talent already.5* P.J. Hairston - UNC4* Marquis Rankin - VT4* Desmin Wells - Xavier3* Terry Whisnant - FSU3* Anthony Gill - South Carolina3* Tyler Poole - Ole MissI don't have a lot of insight as to who we're specifically targeting, but some names that have been floating aroundF Jacob LawsonG Bishop DanielsF Deuce Bellofeel free to enlighten me as to who else we're looking at.
5/5/2010 11:45:02 AM
I feel we'll go hard after a C, PG, and Athlete
5/5/2010 12:36:06 PM
^^ ummm....shouldn't our #1 priority be on the center position? we need to emphasize the hell out of that since we won't have a center on the roster in 2011 (unless we're planning on another year of a 6'8" center in Painter)
5/5/2010 12:42:16 PM
I agree about the center, although i'm thinking that jordan should be half-way serviceable by 2011.
5/5/2010 12:53:29 PM
i hate to be a pessimist, because I like JV, the guy....but I don't like JV, the basketball playeri just see him being a project that didn't pan out, like the majority of all 7+ footers turn out to be
5/5/2010 12:57:25 PM
Vandenburg has had one year with very limited minutes, might be judging just a touch too soon...
5/5/2010 1:03:43 PM
maybe he adds some weight and improvesbut come on lets be honest he didn't do much of anything while he was out therei think we all knew at the time he committed that we gave him an offer hedging on the 1/5 chance that he actually pans out
5/5/2010 1:12:06 PM
i guess i've been tainted by years and years of players like Adam Simons, Bartosz Lewandowski and Ruslan Pateev
5/5/2010 1:13:13 PM
I think Big Daddy Vandy will have his purpose down the road. But yeah, he's not going to a complete solution for a center. We'll need someone with some real size and scoring potential.
5/5/2010 1:13:51 PM
All I know is that The Big Dandy Vandy fucked up a lot of people's shit last year on the defensive end when he was in, and our rebounding improved a lot when he was in. He was awesome in the Arizona game.
5/5/2010 1:15:07 PM
^^ you fucked up his retarded nickname[Edited on May 5, 2010 at 1:15 PM. Reason : .]
5/5/2010 1:15:09 PM
i'm a fan of Vandenberg on the defensive endhe's just soo terrible on offense though HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU NOT DO A PUTBACK?
5/5/2010 1:17:57 PM
i understand he saw limited minutes in his freshman yearbut do we really expect his minutes to increase dramatically his sophomore season, considering we have Smith and Painter down lowso, going into his junior season, the only experience he'll have is from practice and from filling in when Tracy and Deshawn get into foul trouble or need a breather (or get suspended for calling out the refs)
