Looks like there's a restaurant carry bill being put together in the Senate as well. What are the odds these will actually pass?

M2 tube extension installation pretty simple ???Who should I get it from??

Anyone heard of IMI Defense Polymer 30rd AR15 Magazines? PSA has a LPK with no fire control group and 5 of those for $99. Seems like a good deal if those are decent.
3/21/2013 9:59:14 PM
i've got a Stag LPK i'll sell you
3/21/2013 10:13:09 PM
How much? Was really just looking for one without the trigger control group on the cheap. Have an extra go trigger but if I keep the lower it would be replaced with a nice one.
3/21/2013 10:52:03 PM
Stag's GI trigger is actually decent. Lighten it up with some springs and it wouldn't be bad at all. It's $66+shipping from stag when it's in stock. I'd do $65 shipped. Otherwise i'll keep it for spare parts.
3/22/2013 10:27:47 AM
I appreciate it but I talked my dad into buying those mags from me at a discount so I got the parts kit for around $25. Probably going to throw my SSA-E trigger in there and put my GI trigger in my other lower, add a PRS stock and make it my precision gun, use the other for my Aimpoint as more ranch gun
3/22/2013 10:56:45 AM
Sweet. Wish I could give someone a deal in it, but having one laying around for a rainy day carries a lot of value for me.
3/22/2013 1:06:57 PM
For sure. I am probably going to pick up an extra when things die down just to have a spare laying around. Anyone know where to find an A2 tube and buffer/spring? I already have an extra A2 stock laying around and I plan on replacing it with the PRS whenever I feel like dropping the cash on it so I don't want another A2 stock.
3/22/2013 1:09:03 PM
There's one for sale on carolina shooters club
3/22/2013 1:26:14 PM
Hey gents, started a thread about shooting and gunfighting on another forum I go to. Lots of good info in there. I'm trying to feel out the possibility of opening a shooting school here in a couple of years and it appears to be pretty well received. PM me if you want to take a look over there, trying to keep the tww trolls away.

November 1940 serial number. new CMP wood. 1+ on the muzzle and 1 on the throat.

I managed to by a box of 7.62x39 at Walmart this afternoon. My kingdom for some 22LR.
3/23/2013 7:04:04 PM
I'm considering buying a progressive reloader in the near future, since I think my 300 blackout build is going to be difficult to get ammo for otherwise. For those of you that reload, where do you go for primers, powder, and bullets? Right now I'm leaning towards a Dillon 650, but not sure if anyone has any recommendations otherwise for a reloader.
3/23/2013 7:29:58 PM
3/23/2013 7:38:47 PM
Meh. I definitely wouldn't pay over $1k for it even with today's prices. Normal prices I wouldn't pay more than $600 but that is mainly because I don't like that setup.
3/23/2013 8:23:21 PM
3/23/2013 10:02:02 PM
thats maybe a $600 rifle. ammo is maybe $.25/round
3/23/2013 10:47:08 PM
I've found a couple of places online selling new 300 brass for about $0.40 each, with the casings labeled specifically for the round. I don't really like the thought of modifying brass that's stamped for a different cartridge on the bottom, even if it is a very distinct shape. I have about 6 months of waiting before the NFA stamps come back on my 300 blackout build, so I have some time to let the market die down a little bit hopefully. If not, I'll make my own brass from the 223 brass I shoot between now and then.I'm consolidating all of my firearms down to about 7 rounds: 22LR, 5.56, 300 Blackout, 308, 12 gauge, 45ACP, and 44Mag. That ought to give me enough diversity to serve any purpose I have, with the exception of wanting some smaller gauge shotguns for shooting sporting clays. If I do that, reloading should be simplified down to only needing a handful of dies and reloading equipment.
3/23/2013 10:48:17 PM
Thanks for the advice. Does steel case not feed reliably in an AR?What part of that setup is the weak link?
3/23/2013 11:31:42 PM
if you plan to load most of those chamberings on the progressive, then i'd strongly suggest the 550 over the 650. caliber conversions are cheaper and faster.i only load my high-volume stuff on my 550. that's .45 ACP and .223 right now. i use small primer pocket .45 brass so i don't have to change the priming assembly when i switch between them. the rest gets loaded on my single stage presses.i'd like to do .30-06 on the 550 since it uses the same shellplate and locator pins as .45, but 4895 and 4064 are the go-to powders for the Garand and i'm not sure how they'll meter in the dillon powder measure. we'll see.^steel case is fine in an AR. iirc, that ammo isn't actually copper jacketed, just copper washed steel jackets. it'll wear your barrel out much quicker. however, copper washed ammo is usually so much cheaper than quality copper jacketed ammo that you can replace the barrel and still come out ahead.[Edited on March 23, 2013 at 11:42 PM. Concerning brass vs. steel-cased ammunition:http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/brass-vs-steel-cased-ammo/
3/24/2013 10:47:21 AM
or you can reload and shoot quality brass-cased, copper jacketed ammo for the price of the crappy ammo. even more money is saved if you reload heavy bullets for long range or premium and/or match bullets for hunting and target shooting.but, yeah, if all you wanna do is go blast at the range every once in a while, stick with Wolf
3/24/2013 11:17:29 AM
just looked at nrr's gallery... got wood....pretty garand buddy..
3/24/2013 8:55:31 PM
unfortunately it's a birch stock made by boyd's instead of the black walnut that's so beautiful. idk if CMP is cutting costs with the birch stocks or if their supply of walnut couldn't keep up. it doesn't look bad, just lighter and a little orangish. doesn't have the nice grain that the walnut has either. i'm gonna rub it with some linseed or tung oil and maybe it'll darken a little. loaded up 50 rounds to try in it, but it'll probably be a few weeks before i get a chance to shoot it.
3/24/2013 9:04:14 PM
i see it now... garands aren't supposed to fire full on bolt 30-06 right?but most ammo isn't loaded to those pressures anymore anyway if i'm not mistaken.
3/25/2013 10:15:51 AM
Long and skinny is the Garand was designed for M2 ball. That applies to the gas system and the sights. There's piles of info on loading for it. Generally need to stick to 4895 or 4064 with 150 or 168 gr bullets. You can change the gas plug and gain versatility. Otherwise you'll screw up the op rod and they ain't cheap. I got M2 ball pulldown bullets and loaded them over 4064.CMP is still selling HXP M2 ball and some companies (hornady is popular) make garand-safe ammo. If u want to go buy whatever hunting rounds and shoot them in a Garand, then a gas plug would ne a good idea.[Edited on March 25, 2013 at 11:53 AM. Reason : sdd]

I need some advice from the guys on here into sporting clays. Bought my first O/U and will be testing it out at Deep River this weekend. Have shot there before but it was with a 20 gauge pump and no choke. As far as chokes go I just plan to put an IC in the bottom and M in the top and forget about them (other than removing to clean the gun). I figure it is more important to get comfortable with the gun than worry about chokes. This seem reasonable or should I go IC in both barrels?
3/25/2013 8:19:34 PM
Deep River is such a short course, I'd use IC tubes on both barrels. If you ever go to Drake Landing, you'll probably want to use Modified chokes since their throwers are typically further away.
3/25/2013 8:32:27 PM
What kind of O/U?
3/25/2013 8:36:24 PM
12 gauge, 30" version. http://www.stoegerindustries.com/firearms/stoeger-condor-competition.phpFirst for me so I was not going to break the bank in the off chance I get bored with the sport.
3/25/2013 8:44:01 PM
How does the wood look? I dont have a problem with Stoeger, but so many companies put up these beautiful pictures and then deliver the most plain grain ever.
3/25/2013 8:48:34 PM
Wood looks good. Honestly, for what I paid I am completely happy with all aspects of it so far. Keep in mind this is a statement made prior to squeezing off the first shot. Hopefully I will have the same opinion after this weekend.IC in both you say? I'll have to pick another one up. It came with one of each. [Edited on March 25, 2013 at 8:53 PM. Reason : df]
3/25/2013 8:52:27 PM
Does it open stiff?I dont know enough about O/Us... Do they all have inertia triggers?
3/25/2013 9:08:48 PM
Anyone here have strong feelings or opinions about AK mags? I'm in the market for some and they seem to be available again.
3/27/2013 11:55:34 AM
fuquay gun and gold posted up 2 big shipments on their facebook page.they're probably sold out but had 10/22's for $240 for those who are looking. probably sold out.
3/27/2013 7:45:03 PM
Brownell's had AR parts kits, free float tubes, foreground, pistol grips, etc in stick last night. Even a few stripped lowers (lightweight lowers for $190 or so).
3/27/2013 7:56:10 PM
BCGs and lowers aren't even really difficult to find now. you're just going to have to pay twice the normal price.
3/27/2013 8:01:55 PM
I get bored...
3/27/2013 9:08:22 PM
^^ No, I mean at pretty normal prices. I ordered 2 lower parts kits (without trigger) for $22 each, a Hogue grip for $19, and an extra mag for my Xdm for $23.
3/27/2013 9:31:27 PM
3/27/2013 9:55:20 PM
^^and i was saying that items that were almost impossible to find a couple months ago (BCGs, especially) are available, but you'll pay double for them.but i agree with you. most accessories are nearing normal. ammo is still ridiculous, but they'll catch up. excluding Pmags, AR mags are available for $15 or less on most forums.[Edited on March 27, 2013 at 9:59 PM. 3/27/2013 9:58:34 PM
Still need a DPMS-style .308 BCG
3/28/2013 1:06:28 PM
any of you people screw with swedish mausers? i'm picking one up tomorrow.need 6.5x55 brass, bullets, and dies, as well.
3/29/2013 10:05:10 AM
Ive got a few, Samco Global used to be big in swedes. Get some of the wood bullet gallery rounds and pull the bullet, its primed brass for $.10 ea.
3/29/2013 10:20:50 AM
is the brass the same as regular 6.5x55? i know it's not safe to trim .30-06 blank brass down and use it for regular ball rounds because it's not as strong.[Edited on March 29, 2013 at 10:25 AM. Reason : just looked. it's berdan primed. not wasting time on that.]
3/29/2013 10:23:36 AM
I'm finally getting around to converting my 7.62x39 Saiga. Can anyone recommend a gunsmith to thread the barrel and install a muzzle device? Assuming I provide the muzzle device, how much should I expect to pay? Also, I'll reiterate my previous question: Does anyone have any strong opinions about AK mags, particularly for a Saiga? I don't have any at the moment but the Tapcos see to be ubiquitous again.
