Seem a few places describe him as a hopeful JaySam replacement
6/20/2017 3:37:32 PM
not likely going to be a RB at 6'4
6/20/2017 4:14:41 PM
no, he'll be a jaysam.
6/20/2017 4:17:15 PM
more of tight end hybrid-ish position.
6/20/2017 5:30:36 PM
Isn't every good HS athlete
6/20/2017 9:52:23 PM
I meant that could be the position he'd play at State.[Edited on June 20, 2017 at 9:54 PM. Reason : A]
6/20/2017 9:54:16 PM
Go ahead and hand him MVPIF YOU WANNA CROWN EM
6/21/2017 1:54:58 AM
I'm not sure I'd lump him in with JSam just yet but I think that's the type of utility player the staff hopes he can become. I've seen him compared to Funchess when he was at Michigan a LOT. Odds are he'll redshirt and get in the S&C program and see how he develops. He either ends up a big WR or a play-making TE like JSam. I hate comparing players to JSam, we're talking about comparing HS kids to a guy who is getting some preseason All-American picks. I appreciate versatile guys, but JSam just does so many things at such a high level. I've read that Robinson is truly more of an athlete than any one position, I've seen some suggestions that he could even fill out and play DE if we needed. Hopefully he'll work out at TE since we're supposedly not taking any other TEs this class.
6/21/2017 10:41:55 AM
Nobody means he's gonna be the same player they mean his position could be the JaySam position. We don't have to say Leary is gonna be the Rivers position bc the word "quarterback" exists
6/21/2017 4:38:59 PM
JaySam is a WR, TE, RB, FB "hybrid"What will this guy be?
6/21/2017 4:50:12 PM
He'll be a JS
6/21/2017 7:02:59 PM
6/22/2017 10:28:13 AM
to answer the question....given his height, i think he'd be more of a pass catching threat for us than an RB. WR/TE combo kinda seems reasonable. but also could be moved to DE depending on how he fills out. basically...it just depends. seems like the goal with some guys like him are to recruit guys that are athletic and long and have certain desirable physical attributes...then find a place for them once they get on campus and put on muscle, etc.
6/22/2017 11:23:52 AM
kinda like Pharoah
6/22/2017 11:29:52 AM
I think he's going to end up at TE. I doubt he is a hybrid like JSam. He'll be a TE that gets flexed out some to WR. Kind of a replacement for Moss.

jasiah provillon3* wrI think we are done at offensive skill positions
6/24/2017 7:30:15 PM
gabriel gonzalez3* OT
6/24/2017 7:58:06 PM
Gonzalez had offers from vt, Minnesota, wv, and some lesser schools. Jasaih had offers from UL, Michigan state, Michigan, penn state, miss state, and several others.
6/24/2017 8:51:00 PM
Gonzalez has only been playing for 1 year and only 2 of the sites have reviewed him so far. Scout actually has him ranked the #1 OT in the state. Had offers from Duke and Vandy as well, so kid had options. If we can land Gwyn that would give us one of the top OTs and OGs in the state.
6/25/2017 11:42:08 AM
Getting the top linemen in the State each year should be our goal...Glad we are pulling in some good local talent.
6/25/2017 9:49:27 PM
solid fucking week for Coach D.
6/26/2017 9:32:01 AM
Leary's latest interview says he's 100% with NC State and isn't listening to other teams. Also sounds like his family has gone "all-in" with NC State too. So not really worried about PSU, Louisville, etc. anymore.
6/26/2017 12:09:55 PM
Tyler Williams 3* safety out of Raleigh State was only real major offer (ECU and Colorado St in there) but he camped at State this weekend. Guess the coaches liked what they saw
6/26/2017 3:15:24 PM
Seems like he is a guy that was getting some interest but teams were waiting for him to camp to decide whether to offer. Sounded like our guys were really impressed and offered him as a CB. Puts our class at 13, so probably looking at 7-12 more guys. I imagine some of the guys(McNeil and Davis in particular) are going to wait a while to announce so we should have the core of our class committed and then focus on the higher ranked guys that are waiting.
6/26/2017 3:38:32 PM
shaping up nicely but the #'s just seem low at this pointhow many do we expect to graduate/go pro?
6/26/2017 4:20:01 PM
not sure of exact numbers, but have read where this is expected to be a smaller class. my quick count on the gopack.com roster says 20 seniors...that probably includes some walk ons though.we've got 13 commits right now, which isn't that bad. for comparison's sake there are 23 (by my count) schools that have more than 13 commits. so we're not that low right now. a couple weeks ago we were...we've added like 5-6 commits in the last couple weeks alone. Wait isn't 25 the max you can take each year? I think this will be close to a max classPlus UT DB Griffin and maybe a JUCO dline transfer that I don't think count against that as number Oh and on grad transfer K[Edited on June 26, 2017 at 6:57 PM. Reason : Eee]
6/26/2017 6:55:02 PM
Yeah think this class will be about 25. We are still waiting on some of our bigger recruits who will be waiting a while before deciding, and I believe there is a JUCO camp coming up next month where I bet we'll be looking at some DL and DBs.
6/26/2017 10:31:21 PM
6/26/2017 11:49:14 PM
went back and re-read what i thought indicated we would have a smaller class this year....i just read it wrong. so yeah, y'all are right....we'll probably take a full class.also somewhat interesting (although ultimately insignificant) recent commit Jasiah Provillon was a 4* on Rivals up until a few weeks ago. they've since dropped him to a 3*...all other services have him as a 3
6/27/2017 8:44:19 AM
Think there was some optimism we'd land Gwyn this week but it sounds like he's pushing his commitment out and it seems like we're not leading as much as most speculated. Hopefully our guys will be on him this weekend at The Opening.

6/27/2017 12:56:11 PM
yup
6/27/2017 1:59:52 PM
Big weekend for Leary. Hopefully he can perform as well as he did at the Elite 11. Also hope he and Person are there recruiting hard for us haha.
6/27/2017 3:26:46 PM
I know we want him to do well but wouldn't we rather not get anymore spot light on him.
6/28/2017 2:46:08 PM
I mean if Penn State couldn't sway him and he's from NJ and has ties to PSU including an interview stating it was once his "dream school"...I don't see him flipping. The better Leary and Person do it only helps their position while recruiting for us. Hopefully they'll be on Gwyn all weekend. The more recruits hear positive buzz about our recruiting class it can only help, esp. since we have some big fish still on the line(Gwyn, McNeil, Davis, etc).
6/28/2017 2:56:15 PM
I think he likes his odds of getting a lot of playing time here
6/28/2017 3:14:19 PM
I mean, he'll redshirt one year, and then as a RS-FR be competing with RS-SO McKay(3*) and whatever true FR we get in the 2019 class for the starting job. Definitely a great depth chart from his perspective.

6/29/2017 7:17:14 AM
Haha, yeah Amile didn't surprise anyone, it was always 50-50 on NCSU vs. Duke. That came down to his parents wanting Duke and him wanting NCSU, and he ended up at Duke. For Leary he wants NCSU and his parents are pushing for NCSU as well...so not really sure what your'e really concerned about. If he wanted to be committed to PSU by now, he could. PSU wants a dual-threat, so he knows it is a bad fit for his skillset and they already have some high-ranked guys in past classes. Only thing that could hurt us with Leary will be an awful season and Doeren being fired. And if Leary goes to another school in that situation, I doubt it will be PSU.
6/29/2017 8:35:17 AM
also...Rivals guys made it sound like the Penn St stuff was a tad overblown to begin with. by all accounts he is solid and always was. the staff will continue to recruit him, that's all part of recruiting....even when a guy commits, you don't stop recruiting him.
6/29/2017 9:09:30 AM
He knows the best way to the league is to go to QB U, AKA NC State. He's not going anywhere.
