I put this in the classifieds thread, but I'll put it here too.Anyone want to swap their 6 position carbine AR stock for my fixed A2?
3/11/2013 9:45:58 AM
I have 500 rounds of Tulammo 223. Unopened sardine can. Anyone interested? I am in Greenville and would prefer not to ship...
3/11/2013 4:20:43 PM
the HK 121 looks pretty badass
3/12/2013 1:41:42 PM
Wow. Very nice. I am just astonished by the kind of control those guys exhibit when shooting 7.62 at full auto. I am much too small for that...
3/12/2013 3:32:41 PM
it has nothing to do with how big you are. the gun is just designed to minimize muzzle rise.
3/12/2013 4:04:11 PM
That doesn't look like a good idea dumping a hit barrel in water... Yeah it still functions but what's the new aim point ?
3/12/2013 5:40:54 PM
i think the whole point was to show that it could handle it
3/12/2013 5:45:08 PM
but they didn't really... i mean i can do the same with any of my guns... the aim point will move some but it's not like its going to jam...
3/13/2013 11:57:52 AM
The aim point will not move enough to matter.A machine gun is an area fire weapon used for suppression.
3/14/2013 5:35:59 PM
Has anyone been able to find ammo anywhere?I have checked every site that I know of, plus the ones google returns.I also go through 3 walmarts every other day.I can't find 9mm or .40. Even .357sig is out nearly everywhere.I'm at the point where I can't go to the range and shoot or I'll be out of ammo.
3/14/2013 6:01:43 PM
Everyone's in that boat except NeuseRvrRat because he reloads anything that sits still long enough to have a bullet seated in it.
3/14/2013 6:11:36 PM
thing is, reloading components were/are subject to panic buying as well. they did seem to start to rebound a little quicker than factory ammo. luckily, i had a decent stockpile simply because reloading components are cheaper in bulk. but now we're at a point where you can find most components if you know enough places to look. ammo hasn't gotten back to that point yet.[Edited on March 14, 2013 at 6:34 PM. I was sitting on 1500+ rounds of every caliber. I though that ammo would return before I ran out, as I don't really shoot that often. Now I'm down to 3-500 per caliber. The problem is that my usual outing is 500 rounds of center fire and 1-200 rimfire.I'm going to go to the range next week, but I may have to stick to maybe 200 rounds total.
3/14/2013 6:54:57 PM
if i was in raleigh i would tell you guys to buy some components and come use my equipment. i've had a few buddies from work doing that lately.i've also had dozens of people trying to get me to sell them reloads
3/14/2013 7:09:52 PM
If some of you live in Raleigh-ish area and do want to do that, let me know. BYO components, and I have equipment for:9mm45ACP44Mag357Mag357Sig7.62x397.62x54303 Brit30-30 Win45-70 Gov'tWe can also cast bullets for just about all of those if you can get some lead wheel weights.[Edited on March 15, 2013 at 7:04 AM. 3/15/2013 7:03:52 AM
you re-load 7.62x54? damn... you must be serious...
3/15/2013 8:54:05 AM
It's not just about saving money
3/15/2013 9:48:03 AM
i've got lead wheel weights i need to get with you to cast some bulllets for the 45-70. what grain molds do you have? If you know of any extra brass floating around that would be great too! i only have a few pieces of brass for it.
3/15/2013 9:58:09 AM
i meant a serious shooter... I wasn't trying to mock i know you can get more consistent loads and better accuracy too... that's why i said that... no one would load mosin ammo for financial reasons.
3/15/2013 10:29:25 AM
I got into reloading x54R when I had a PSL that I was working on. I don't have it any more, so those dies haven't been used in at least a couple years. I don't have a lot of 45-70, maybe 100 pc. total, so I'm not ready to part with any of it. If you bring what you have, we can load it up. It's kinda hard to find spent brass for that, so what little bit I have is from the few boxes of commercial loads I've bought for it at the $rape prices that 45-70 has always gone for (~$1-2 a round). I don't even want to know what it goes for now. Here are all the molds I have in case anyone else is interested in using them:7.62x39, x54R, and .303 Brithttp://www.midwayusa.com/product/752956/lee-2-cavity-bullet-mold-c312-155-2r-762x39mm-312-diameter-155-grain-2-ogive-radius-gas-check.38 Spl./.357Maghttp://www.midwayusa.com/product/145006/lee-2-cavity-bullet-mold-358-125-rf-38-special-357-magnum-38-colt-new-police-38-s-and-w-358-diameter-125-grain-flat-nosehttp://www.midwayusa.com/product/263780/lee-2-cavity-bullet-mold-c358-158-swc-38-special-357-magnum-38-colt-new-police-38-s-and-w-358-diameter-158-grain-semi-wadcutter-gas-check30-30 Winhttp://www.midwayusa.com/product/574963/lee-2-cavity-bullet-mold-c309-170-f-30-caliber-309-diameter-170-grain-flat-nose-gas-check.44 Spl./.44 Maghttp://www.midwayusa.com/product/511417/lee-2-cavity-bullet-mold-c430-310-rf-44-special-44-remington-magnum-44-40-wcf-430-diameter-310-grain-flat-nose-gas-checkhttp://www.midwayusa.com/product/520228/lee-2-cavity-bullet-mold-429-200-rf-44-special-44-remington-magnum-44-40-wcf-429-diameter-200-grain-flat-nose45-70 Gov'thttp://www.midwayusa.com/product/588362/lee-2-cavity-bullet-mold-457-405-f-45-70-government-457-diameter-405-grain-flat-nose[Edited on March 15, 2013 at 11:59 AM. ^thanks, i've got some 45-70 dies i just need to cast some bullets and find more brass. looks like you can get starline brass for 50-65cent each. i might just buy a hundred or so, with my loads i don't think i'll wear it out quickly. I'll be shooting through an 1873 & 1884 springfield trapdoor so i'll be keeping loads on the light side. i've never cast my own bullets before, i assume it's a pretty straight forward process. do you water quench yours?i would also like to cast some 30-30 bullets while were at it. do i need to smelt it and bring ingots or just bring raw weights? [Edited on March 15, 2013 at 12:52 PM. Reason : ingots vs raw weight]
3/15/2013 12:35:07 PM
For all the rifle bullets and/or anything that needs a gas check, I always water drop. Stuff destined for non-magnum handgun loads, no need - they come out perfectly air cooled on a pile of wet towels.Having clean ingots makes the process go faster since cleaning up a pot of lead takes a few minutes, but it's not a big deal if all you have is a bucket of weights. Figure about 20 minutes a pot dedicated to picking out clips, sorting zinc weights, and fluxing until it comes clean. If you want to clean up a bunch and make ingots, I have a muffin pan that I use to make them, and it works pretty well

Thinking of selling my lower but not sure if it would fetch more if I built it first. I can get a lower build kit from PSA w/o fire control for $99 and I have a spare GI trigger laying around that I could throw in it. Of course, if I do that and don't sell it then I have a feeling it will turn into another rifle...
3/17/2013 6:01:49 PM
what brand lower?to be honest, prices are going down. you may find a sucker. but its not easy making $300 on a lower anymore.. even if it has its parts kit installed. PSA is always posting up lowers for $120if you dont need the money, may be worth building up over time if you have the parts.
3/17/2013 6:43:54 PM
Sold my built BCM lower for $820
3/17/2013 6:52:09 PM
It's a CMT Tactical billet lower. I might just keep it for another build or save it for the peak of the next great freak out
3/17/2013 7:08:00 PM
PSA has lowers in stock right now for 119.
3/17/2013 9:48:09 PM
feinstein pwnd
3/19/2013 8:46:36 PM
Feinstein was a pawn, her plan was designed to fail from the start
3/19/2013 9:38:39 PM
now the bills that actually do make it to a vote in the gun control package will be touted as "reasonable"in other news, my CMP order for a SA service grade finally showed up in the E-store:
3/19/2013 9:48:00 PM
^ awesome dude... i'm still waiting on my 8mm to show up then i'll be done for a while i think... although i really want an XDs for carry.
3/20/2013 8:20:57 AM
FYI: All ATK ammunition at Lawmans' is now restricted sale according to the sales clerk I spoke with this morning. That covers Federal, Speer, Blazer, American Eagle, CCI, etc... That means sales to public safety personnel only. Remington and Hornady ammunition is still being sold to the general public, but ATK brands comprise the majority of Lawmans' stock.
3/20/2013 11:53:24 AM
why?
3/20/2013 12:00:07 PM
I was told they had a new contract and those where the terms. I guess they have to justify their super-cheap pricing. It just occurred to me that it's probably an effort on someone's part to make sure ammunition supply to law enforcement is minimally effected by the current super-high demand.[Edited on March 20, 2013 at 12:13 PM. 3/20/2013 12:06:02 PM
I'm gonna call bullshit and say it's nothing more than cops looking out for each other.
3/20/2013 1:30:53 PM
God dammit, that was my go to place for Gold Dot ammo. 50rd boxes for the same price as the shitty 20rd ones you find anywhere else.
3/20/2013 8:25:02 PM
^ Me too.
3/20/2013 8:38:59 PM
how much are you shooting defense rounds?
3/20/2013 8:49:46 PM
Occasionally I'll run a few mags through my main carry gun to make sure it's 100% with hollow points. Also they had great prices on Speer .357 Sig FMJ.
3/20/2013 9:35:57 PM
Not bullshit, i know the guys up there. When they reupped their contract they was part of it. Keeps other vendors happy that don't but at as good of pricing.
3/20/2013 9:37:38 PM
Good idea, lets stop selling to 95% of the public to keep our prices 4% cheaper. No thanks
3/21/2013 12:36:20 AM
^ that sounds like a valid argument... but honestly they probably don't have enough ammo for that 5%.And i know they get special pricing from the distributers.[Edited on March 21, 2013 at 8:01 AM. Reason : .]
3/21/2013 8:00:54 AM
interesting. hardly went there. the employees I dealt with were annoying pricks. Of course, I think most gun shops/ranges have annoying pricks as employees.
3/21/2013 8:37:17 AM
^ditto
3/21/2013 8:44:02 AM
^ ditto... i bought my para 1911 there used cause they didn't catch that double stacks are worth twice as much as para singles and got it for single stack prices.Hills seems to be be the most comfy gun shop in raleigh for me.imho.
3/21/2013 8:56:54 AM
Someone sent me a link to this. I've never shot anything with an aluminum (or for that matter, steel) casing. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm a bit wary.http://www.9mmammo.com/ammo-by-caliber/handgun/9mm-luger/50-rds-9mm-luger-cci-blazer-115gr-fmj-3509.html
3/21/2013 9:20:00 AM
It's safe
3/21/2013 9:34:41 AM
Blazer in good ammo and I'd shoot it without hesitation. As for steel case ammo, most of it is Russian. The case isn't the problem. The problems are the fact that the QC is poor and the ammo can be inconsistent and that Russian bullet jackets aren't pure copper. They have steel or some other hard metal mixed in and they wear out your barrel faster. Of course, the savings are such, at least with rifles, that you can by a new barrel and still come out money ahead.
