10-6 = LOLthat reversal of last seasons ACC record would be an amazing turnaround on it's own, and even more so considering our slow start and tough ACC Schedule]
12/22/2010 2:23:01 PM
10-6 in the ACC will be the minimum to go to the NCAA. For any team. The ACC is awful this year, and if you can't win 10 games, the only place you deserve to go is the shitter.
12/22/2010 2:31:31 PM
Honestly I don't see the ACC sending less than 4 teams to the tournament. So finish in the top four and you pretty much be guaranteed. Forget wins and losses.*Of course if UNC finishes 5th they may just leapfrog the 4th place ACC team...[Edited on December 22, 2010 at 2:46 PM. Reason : asdfasd]

The ACC is the 4th best conference this year and we in all likelihood have the toughest schedule in the ACC given that we face its likely top two teams twice. We have faced 3 elite non- conference teams, 1 upper echelon one and we have a win over george mason who will steamroll their conference this year (it'd be nice if they did it with 0-2 losses). We will get consideration on how much better we are when tracy returns.8-8 with an acct win gives us a shot, 9-7 with an acct win we are almost definitrly in.The comparison to VT is irrelevant, each year is viewed independently. Our resume, rpi, and team success will hold against any bubble team in the country if we can achieve those things.I've been following tournament selection sites for 10 years, I understand these things beter than you
12/22/2010 2:50:00 PM
nah dude. i've been following the ncaa tournament since the AOL boards and Usenet groups in 1995.Consider yourself called out faggot.
12/22/2010 2:51:25 PM
I invented the sport of basketball and the concept of using tournaments to determine the overall best competitor.Y'all bitches ain't shit.
12/22/2010 3:00:08 PM
i've been supportive of lowe since day 1..but recently my boss (a state grad) told me that he has a professor friend at state that teaches one of the women's bball players. he asked the player (no idea which one) how bball was going and practices and what not...she said it was fine but that the men have it easier. she went on to say that the men work on fundamentals for 15 to 20 minutes per practice then scrimmage the other 2 or 3 hours.she said the women's bball team does fundamentals 2 to 3 hours and scrimmages maybe 1 hour.i'm beginning to change my mind about this...he better make the tourney or i'm done w/ him after this season.
12/22/2010 3:11:19 PM
That's a dumb post
12/22/2010 3:13:14 PM
maybee the guys are just more fundamentally sound than the women.
12/22/2010 3:14:02 PM
then the women must be pretty fucking terrible at fundamentals
12/22/2010 3:18:29 PM
Good, fundamentals are for retards and women. What we need is conditioning, in-game situations, and experience in up tempo controlled scrimmages. You really think layup lines, dribbling balls around cones, and box out drills are what we need? You get better by PLAYING basketball and putting yourself in situations that are relevant to what you do in games. There is a reason mma fighters grapple and don't sit around all day lifting weights.
12/22/2010 3:19:35 PM
Clearly whatever Lowe has been doing is working wonders.
12/22/2010 3:24:59 PM
I guess I just don't get how you fucking fags think its impossible that our young guys could start playing better during the league play, then add our best player back to the mix to save the season. Sure, I'm a fucking state fan, and I don't believe it will happen, but i'm sure as hell not gonna sit here and make an ass out of myself by calling for Lowe's head mid season when in reality we have been much more competitive in the 4 big OOC games (obviously not wisconson) than I would have expected. We're giving up 16 points a game and big time experience down low. Honestly, if the 3 frosh can get their heads out of their asses and play like we know they're capable (like...making wide open shots) then we can win a bunch of games even without tracy. We were close in 3 games and most of them played like dog shit too.
12/22/2010 3:26:03 PM
^^^no, hold up...We do need some box out drills.[Edited on December 22, 2010 at 3:27 PM. Reason : ^s]

I wonder if last year's leading rebounder being healthy would help those numbers...
12/22/2010 3:34:50 PM
Just for argument's sake, if Tracy is out or ineffective for the remainder of the year and we go 5-11 or 6-10 in ACC play, would you keep Lowe or not?
12/22/2010 3:40:29 PM
I don't care to think about that now.Is it just a coincidence that NYM has a tendency to keep out of these discussions?[Edited on December 22, 2010 at 3:42 PM. Reason : brag]

12/22/2010 3:50:06 PM
Thank you for validating everything I saidAnd for furthering the suspicion you created in the Dana Bible thread that you're a fucking boxscore-watcher who has no idea what's actually happening on the field of play[Edited on December 22, 2010 at 3:53 PM. Reason : ]

You can call it narrow-minded or immature or whatever, but at a certain point everyone gets tired of excuses rather than results, it's just that some of us get to that point quicker than others.
12/22/2010 4:05:06 PM
^^I'm not saying I want him (Lowe) fired.I'm just saying it's not ridiculous to expect results, your job doesn't work any differently. At the end of the day, the high ups don't care about the little hiccups along the way, someone has to be accountable for having all these resources and still not getting the job done.[Edited on December 22, 2010 at 4:09 PM. Lowe is right, some of you do live in a fantasy world. We lose our top scorer/rebounder/all-acc power forward (senior leadership and go-to-guy for a basket) and we're not supposed to miss a beat? supposed to knock off top 10 teams? I, too, would love to think we're Duke or Kansas and can lose a key player and continue to roll everybody we face.

When I was in middle school, I wore a flannel shirt or a jacket and had my WALKMAN (remember those) tape player with radio in my pocket and one of the headphones, that i broke, slid up my sleeve so I could listen in class undetected. This was before AOL for DOS was even released.

i don't know if it's been posted or not, frankly i don't care. i'm not trying to defend anyone and i'm sure this will mostly fall on deaf ears, but we are (according to Ken Pomeroy's stats) the 332nd youngest team in basketball this year at 0.91 years. that's out of 345 teams.that's an experience value based on experience weighted minutes played. so without tracy smith for as long as he's been out, we are super, super young. that's obvious since we all know we play freshmen a lot, but numbers help put some things in perspective**to some people**for comparison:Georgetown is 111 at 1.93yrsWisconsin is 114 at 1.91yrsArizona is 276 at 1.38yrsSyracuse is 290 at 1.32yrsand how about that, the two teams we played closest in our 4 losses were the younger of the two. tracy's experience (and talent) is sorely missed.[Edited on December 22, 2010 at 6:31 PM. Results of tonight's matchup with the Hornets is a tough loss. Fire Lowe, then hire this guy:
12/22/2010 7:07:23 PM
12/22/2010 7:56:02 PM
more experienced in running a completely different system
12/22/2010 7:57:02 PM
We only got worse once they were more experienced in his system.
12/22/2010 8:17:31 PM
We only got worse when they were exposed as shitty players with shitty attitudes
12/22/2010 8:20:00 PM
I certainly think that was part of it, but it's easy to argue Lowe didn't integrate the recruiting class with the established players well.
12/22/2010 8:24:12 PM

I blame Lowe's playcalling and coaching for Wood going 1-7 tonight. Fuck that, I blame him for the 0-6 start. The putback was the first play of the game where Wood ignored Lowe's shitty playcalling.I also give 100% credit to Howell and Painter for getting new career high point totals, despite Lowe's terrible coaching[Edited on December 22, 2010 at 9:04 PM.
